BLT's experiment rubbing off on other resorts?

We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at BCV this past Saturday to find the desk in the villa lobby to be manned. We'd parked in the self-parking lot, and were walking through on our way to the main hotel lobby when we saw him. Yes, he told us, he'd be happy to check us in.

The primary purpose of having the desk manned is to provide concierge services, but he was more than willing and able to check us in, re-print our keys, and save us the walk to the main lobby to pick up our online check-in package. (When we later walked through the main lobby on our way to breakfast, we were even more appreciative of his assistance when we saw how long the line was there.)

If DVC is reading this post, thank you for adding another premier level of service to one of our favorite resorts. Having our own Concierge made me feel just a little bit special as a member.

That's great to hear , it can be a pain having to go over to the BC and wait in the queue there. I felt this as well on our last trip to BLT when we had to wait in a half hour queue at the CR. On our September trip we should be able to go straight to BLT :cool1:

I like the idea if it works. The downside is that we pay for it and I wonder how it will affect our cost.

:earsboy: Bill

This has been tried before. It is convenient if you know about it and are driving.

Yeah, they've tried that before at BCV. We'll see if it sticks this time.

It would take them letting people know the service is available. If no one knows the service is available, how/why would anyone use it?

The first time we stayed at BCV, I made the mistake of going into the DVC lobby to check-in, and then had to walk to the main building to check-in. Not fun. :rotfl:

I forgot did BLT add check in or do we still have to go to the Contemp lobby?

He pointed out to me that the primary purpose of the desk is for concierge services. He was happy to check us in since we were walking through from the self parking lot, but I doubt they'll advertise it as a check-in site.

Check-in is available at the BLT lobby if you're driving. If you're arriving on a DME bus, you're supposed to still use the CR desk.

Thanks for this info. We'll be there next month and I wasn't aware of this change. :thumbsup2

I'll be arriving on the DME in October and I trust that the CM who greets me would point me to the BCV check-in if there is one.

I loved the check-in process at BC in February. Someone met us as we got off the ME bus and walked us straight to the desk. Our folder was produced, I selected a pin number, DD's card was re-printed to non-charging and we were done. Not even 5 minutes.

I'm not a huge fan of the check in at BLT. Was nothing but mistakes when we used it in.february. Our Keys were cut for the wrong room and we had to go back down queue again and wait ages for them to sort it out, our neighbors had the same problem.
