BLT Studio, Made Odd on Purpose?

We had the exact opposite problem with our clock - you couldn't read it at all unless you turned the light on. As far as the kitchen/bathroom, the kitchen is HUGE compared to any other studio - lots of storage which we use for misc stuff from garden grocer. I really liked the set up - we had lots more storage and places for things especially with the pack-n-play in use as well. You can't beat the location (except for EPCOT resorts :) ) and the TOWL is a great bonus!! The only thing my hubby wants is a lock on the bathroom door so our 2 little guys stay out ;)

I agree. If they knew in advance there would be a challenge creating the standard for DCV studios due to shape/size constraints, they should have had the architects employ the services of someone who designs Airstreams for the studios. There is no reason the bathroom counter should have been that close to the kitchenette.

Oh well... what's done is done. It's a beautiful building in a great location with some killer views. I look forward to booking a single night at BLT in a studio to start our trip - and then moving over to a more comfortable studio location for the remainder.

Challenges, that's a nice way of stating it. Rather than, the architect was on drugs. ;)

as much as I love BLT - the studios definitely have major problems - they work great for single or couple - but more than that you have problems.

that say - definitely think DVC wants DVC members to use 1-bedroom - first the 1-bedrooms are large - only OKW and now Kidani are bigger.

they could have easily taken a little room out of the 1-bedroom to use in the studio if they wanted too.

they did NOT.

that says to me - want members to stay in a 1-bedroom or bigger.....

anyone else notice that the model villas at SSR had the icemaker - but the real 1-bedroom and up does not.

4) The shower. I am so tired of reading about people complaining about the strength of the shower. OPERATOR ERROR. The toggle that you switch to make it into a shower, is also the flow regulator. Just turn the darn thing down, you can have it at a trickle if thats what you want.

Speak for yourself. Even with the toggle only pushed far enough to switch to the shower head instead of the faucet, it was still too strong for me.

1) true no soap dish, is it really that big of a deal to put it on the edge of the tub? I would much rather do that, then see a moldy under side of a soap dish that doesn't get cleaned.

There are no soap dishes in the shower in the master bathrooms for one and two bedrooms, either. No edge of a tub to use, I guess you're supposed to put the soap on the shower seat.

2.The Ipod dock station clock is too bright at night and also should be infront of the TV and not on the left night table.

I completely agree! Had 5 nights at BWV in a refurbished studio and i had to cover the iPod dock overnight as it was so bright! So glad someone else agrees! Also only one bed side table in studio so person on the right side had to put their book and glass of water on the floor!

I put a sock over it way too bright!

I had an ice maker in my 1 bedroom at BLT when I stayed in Sept.

We also had an ice maker in our 1 bedroom at BLT in December. It was turned off to conserve water/energy. We turned it on when we checked in and turned it off when we checked out.

I don't think they give a hoot where you stay, they sell all the points so they expect it to be full up with DVC members in every room type. If they expected all the DVC members to stay in 1BR or up what do they expect will happen to all those points left over if no on uses the studios?

Bad design doesn't have ulterior motives and it isn't a conspiracy, it's just bad design.

I stayed at the BLT with the lake view in December 2009 for 4 nights. I love the overall look and feel of the hotel - but I do agree there are a lot of flaws in design.

I love the bathroom door - but no lock is a real issue. I went with my 4-year old and my friend and her 18 month old. A REAL challenge trying to get privacy.

Plenty of storage space and the kitchen has nice amenities, but eating and doing your hair in the small space is just gross!

The sinks are too high for the small ones to brush their teeth and no step stools in site!

Not enough places to hang your towels either.

I didn't mind the IPOD station being so bright, it works great as a night light.

With everything said - I will NOT get a BLT Studio again. :santa:

Would anyone not put a mirror or electrical outlet in the bathroom and put them in your kitchen instead? In the morning I was drying my hair in the kitchen while DW was trying to make a bagel--not the most appealing breakfast item when hair is flying around. What were they thinking? When you are trying to use the sink and someone else is trying to use the kitchen there is not enough room to move around. We also thought the strength of the shower was just too powerful (it felt like layers of skin were being ripped off!), and DW had a problem with the height of the sinks--they were just too high for her to properly wash her face without flinging water everywhere. She's not short either--5'5", so I could see major problems with people who are even shorter.

First off, let me say we loved our stay at BLT.
1 week studio, 1 week 1BR.
We do prefer a 1BR over a studio at anytime, though.
In regards to flaws in the design of a studio as stated above.....
My DW also pointed out the "Hair spray factor" in the kitchenette.
Hair spray all over the toaster and coffee maker, and anything else left on the counter.
A mirror in the hall area would be nice, or one in the bathroom and an outlet.
LOVED the storage space, though! :thumbsup2
The counter did seem a bit high thinking back.
As far as the shower pressure goes, it was a bit rough until I figured out the toggle and turned it down.
In ours, you could get it to a dribble if you wanted.
And the free standing safe in the closet takes up valuable empty suitcase space, which is not as much of a problem in the 1BR due to 2 closets.

In the 1BR, no internet jack in the living room, (that we could find) only the BR. :headache:

I don't remember if the models had an external or internal ice maker at the moment.
We had an icemaker as well (internal), which the bellhop turned on for us as soon as we moved in.
