BLT Studio comments

If you look closely at the floor plan on the DVC site they have the sink and counter in the bathroom and the solid wall against the kitchenette which makes more sense since there is a sink next to the microwave.

I wonder if the builder made an error on the model?? Let's hope so!

I liked the studio layout. The Studio does feel smaller, compared to the SSR studio. The reason I liked the layout is it takes the kitchenette out of the walkway. It drives me crazy that the kitchenette clogs the walkway.

I agree totally. I don't have a problem with the bathroom sink being in the kitchenette area, but that is probably because we do not usually fix any food when in a studio, other than snacks and drinks, and that is usually later in the day, not in the mornings when folks are getting ready for their day.

I also don't have a problem in the one-bedroom having the extra bathroom located enar the entrance of the villa.

The only design problem I have is that the closet in the master bedroom is beind the door to the bedroom. You have to close the bedroom door to get into the closet. I am used to those nice big closets at OKW. There also is very little storage space for luggage. Other than that, I am just thrilled with my new home. :goodvibes

Um ... all the other studios except OKW (and most of the hotel rooms at Disney) are the same way, are they not? The sink is outside the toilet/shower room, requiring you to open the bathroom door to wash your hands.

Yes, you are right, you would have to do this in all other studios, except the ones at OKW, which have a sink in the bathroom and a small sink in the wetbar area.

I just looked at the link...it doesn't show a mirror or outlet IN the bathroom itself. If there were, this would solve some of the blowdryer issues.
Ah, sorry I misunderstood your question. I see what you were asking now and you are correct, the bathroom has just a tub and toilet, no mirror or outlet.

I noticed that as well and wondered if the original idea was to have the vanity in the bathroom and then it was changed when they built the model.

Our BWV 1 BR was like that as well - toilet/sink in one room together.

And I guess it's the closeness of the vanity/kitchenette area at BLT that bothered me. Like the other poster said, lots/all of the studios are that way, sort of, but the kitchenette counter and the vanity counter are much farther apart.

I agree with you. While the vanity and kitchenette are just a few steps apart in the studios at the other resorts they feel like completely separate areas. You can have someone using the vanity area after taking a shower and someone else making coffee and toast in the kitchenette and not get in each others way. That is definitely not the case in the BLT studios. You will be occupying the same space and it will be difficult to have two people moving around in there at the same time.

yea - but they also don't have the counter space that BLT does. it has alot of counter space - that I do appreciate - bring a lot of junk.

have to have room for my hair - so will do the daily brushing in the bathroom or bedroom/living room area) no there is no way to do in the little bathroom sink/kitchennett. far to much hair.

what think that most of us will enjoy is nothing is close by - so no looking at your neighbors on their balconies - except standard view and CR - but think they are far enough away that it won't be much of a problem

oh sorry forgot the bay lake views - they will be able to see each other (I think). won't know until at least Sept...

not sure but the door in the bathroom might have a mirror - remember seeing a big mirror just not sure where? that say if you plan to stay in studio - just pack a mirror to use in the bathroom.

what I love about the 1-bedroom is that you see the firework from the tub....

don't remember if you can see the TV (like you can in most of the DVC's) - but definitely the fireworks.

as far as the livingroom goes - only glass floor to ceiling - no balcony. that might be for little ones who would love to see the fireworks but their little ears can't stand the loud noise.

so one parent can go out on the balcony in the bedroom with most of the kids - and the other parent can watch with the younger child(ren) from the livingroom. would think the sound proofing would be pretty good. Of course no turning the TV on in the livingroom to the music.

same for the bay lake with EWP.

I think a girl designed it for convenience. Now, she can get my dinner ready while fixing her hair. Multitasking. :rotfl2: Just kidding.

:laundy:

Love it, Bob. :rotfl2:

On the other notes, I always thought the galley style kitchen in the one and two bedroom non-OKW villas was too small for two people to work in efficiently. Evidently the architect for BLT didn't agree with me on that one. It just seems like it would have been so much easier to just turn the wall around so that the sink and counter was in the bathroom instead of in the kitchen.

You know the old joke about you got chocolate in my peanut butter, no you got peanut butter in my chocolate? Well, we're going to hear, you got hairspray in my grape jelly.

Even with the other studios, when you exit the toilet/tub room, the sink is right there as you exit. You don't have to go around the corner to get to the sink.
