BLT Standard View?

We got lucky and were able to book not one but two 1 BR's at BLT with a standard view for next year's spring break! :yay:

I say lucky because I know they are often booked way early (and there are very few of them). We own at BLT and have stayed in a room with a theme park view but were disappointed. It was mostly parking lot although we could see MK if we craned our heads to the right. Also the rooms were super hot and sunny in the late afternoon, early evening which made it impossible to sit on the balcony to relax for any period of time then.

Next, we stayed in a lake view which was nice, but we mostly were looking across the resort at other hotel rooms and their balconies. I feel like unless you are at the center of the "U" it's mostly a hotel view.

My thought since then has always been to get a standard view since it is by far the most affordable, and any view will not be disappointing as our previous experiences have been.

Just curious what your experience has been with a standard view at BLT and what we could possibly be looking at? Any recommendations for a room request would be appreciated.

Thanks all!

We have stayed in a 1 bedroom standard view at BLT 3 times. 4th stay is next month.

1. Asked for North side, outside C. I got inside C, 2nd floor over the community center (none of my request). Looked at my neighbors every morning...

2. Asked for North side, outside C, high floor. I got inside C, 1st floor next to community center looking at the trees and a game court (maybe shuffle?) (none of my request).

3. Asked for North side, outside C, high floor. I got outside C, ground floor looking at the Marina (but I got outside C for the first time)

4. Next month I'm booked in a standard 1 bedroom. I asked for North side outside C high floor.....to be continued.

I know my requests are only requests and I know there are a small number of standard rooms. But as you see, I don't get my hopes up at all, but I do continue to make the same request. Please set your bar low as to getting any request here. At least the 2 out of 3 times I've been ground level, it was easy with the stroller and zipping to and from the pool.

We stayed in a standard studio last year. I requested high floor, even number. I was lucky enough to get the 4th floor in the North Tower. Although the garbage dumpster was below it didn't bother us too much if we looked to the left it was Space Mountain, to the right the lake and directly in front the tennis courts.

As PP said requests are only that. From reading here it varies all over the place how much those are meet. I will have to say we have been usually lucky and so far often do have our requests granted.

I wonder if there is a link to a map that explains what rooms have what views. I have seen this b4 I think for BCV, and also for GCV. They even have quite a few people that have posted pictures of their views. If anybody knows of anything like this for BLT, please let me know! Thanks...interesting report on the views so far.

I thought there were no "Standard" on high floors? Once you get higher than like 4 you are lake or MK view?

We stayed standard once and were looking towards the marina on the ground floor. I LOVED the location.

We snagged a standard for our Sept trip a 1 bedroom this time and I really want outside C as well.

You're right, but I was calling the 4th floor high....:rolleyes1 I guess I was hoping for something higher than 2. Still the savings of the standard room is worth any view we end up with.

The marina view wasn't bad, but we had issues that we did report to MS. We had bird poop everywhere and even on the outside furniture. We reported to housekeeping, but no one would do anything about it. We know they can't handle the wildlife, but housekeeping had to be aware that this occurs. It was like that the day we moved in and we could not get the front desk to clean it. Other than that, it was a very convenient location and close to the door to the pool. We do always try to find positive in each room we stay in. Being able to quickly fill our mugs during the day at the main pool was a nice extra.

There are three 2BR lock-off standards on the 5th floor along that north wall facing north; otherwise there are none above 4. Floors 3 and 4 in the front/center portion of the building that used to be theme park rooms are now standard (change was made effective Jan 1, 2013 and was done because those rooms in fact had mostly parking lot view)

Ew, that would bother me too.

We were ecstatic to snag a 1 bedroom standard for Sept at just 5 months out. I won't be too picky but I still hope to get on the outside.

We stayed in a standard view on the ground floor which overlooked the marina. For us it was perfect. My boys got sick and we spent a lot of time in the room. They enjoyed watching boats come and go.

Have just got back asked for a high floor in a standard view got floor 5 room 5106 which was north side and could see castle and space mountain easily. Last 4 nights we had a lake view one bed and had floor 14 room 8404. Had clear view of castle fireworks etc. fantastic rooms. Being our first dvc stay it was lovely to get such great rooms. Requested minimal requests and was told the more u request the less likely they are met. Have always been lucky but tbh would be happy anywhere. Blt is not my home resort WLV is.

We will be there in 3 weeks - 1 BR standard and have made no requests (other than possible early check in as our flight arrives from PHL at 10am). This was the first time I could get BLT and so looking forward to staying here this year, even if it's only for 4 nights (and then move to BWV for 3 nights)!pirate:
