BLT--many "pros"and one "con"

the pool is definitely too small.

but what is funny is your complaint about the sun - been there Spring, fall - and both times the sun was not a problem. the cold because of the building shading was a problem. It can be so cold.

got told they got more complaints in the summer because of lack of tables - in the spring, fall there are too many tables.:rotfl:

so guess it depends upon what season you go.

the love bugs are in May and Sept.

Just got back from BLT Fri/Sat.

Lovebugs weren't a real problem (very common in early spring everywhere).

What I did notice on the first floor by South Elevators was an abundance of mosquitos camping out at night inside on the walls.

I would imagine this is due to the doors being overly used as people walk over from Contemporary in the evening for convenient access to the elevators.

Also, we stayed in 7132 and there seems to be some type of Cast Member area sharing the wall with the bed. We had a few instances of loud thumps as some type of hotel items were being 'stowed aggressively'.

Sorry, didn't read the few posts before mine regarding 'midges'.

Those are what they were.

No they were not love bugs. We've been going May and October for the last 20 years and certainly do not have a problem with love bugs. I too saw the bugs. They were some type of night bug that is attracted to the lights. Every morning when we went to our car the sidewalks would be filled with the dead ones. They were alot like a flying ant. They were at the pool too, but not nearly as bad as when the sun went down. They were in swarms, not like love bugs that just float along and look like fire-flys (lightening bugs).

As previous posters indicated, they aren't love bugs as I had thought. You must have been lucky to miss the love bugs, because they come out in Spring (April-May) and late summer/early fall (Sept-Oct).

We've been lucky as well in our nearly 15 years of May/October trips and only had 4 trips that were really bad in regards to the love bugs.

Will be trying the BLT pool at XMAS, but how does it compare to VWL and BCV?

We usually use the main pool at WL because the VWL pool is nothing compared to BLT, and that is longer stroll than BLT to the CR main pool-or about that same. So both BLT and CR pool will be great options for us. At BCV, SAB is even further from the BCV pool-which is also much smaller than BLT.

n2mm: We probably saw you at the pool--saw the trivia game several times!!

jade: Can't really make a fair comparison except to suggest again it's too small for the size of the resort--in May anyway!!!

We went in Oct. and are going again this Oct. We had our pick every day near the pool. It was never more than half full each time we went. I guess that is one advantage of going when all the kiddies are in school...smjj

We went the 3rd week of October, and while it wasn't busy/packed - it did get cool when the sun went behind the tower and the shade set in with the breeze off the lake. Waiting your turn on the slide was downright chilly!!

We were there April 15-21st during CT school break. Best thing we liked about about BLT was the location - walking to MK and monorail to EPCOT. We liked the pool well enough, but could see how it could get packed when busy/hot (we usually went in late afternoon, so it wasn't bad.) Parking is good, and the rooftop lounge was nice.

Other than those few pros, however, I can't say we were particularly impressed with BLT. Rooms are the smallest on property, and it has to be the most un-Disney feeling resort on property. Felt sterile, institutuonal, and cold. We stayed at BCV for the second half of our trip, and only then did we really feel we were on a WDW vacation.

smjj: I thought all the kiddies were still in schoolin early May:)

They are, I guess I should have read the post a little more closely. We do make sure when we go to go when the schools are in session though. When we went this last Oct., we had great weather and the pool chairs were never more than half full. But there are always kids around and we are no execption. Our next trip is this coming Oct. and we will be in a Grand Villa with our two kids, their spouses and four grandkids(fall break for them). Can't wait...smjj
