I am a very new member - signed up last week :)

I am getting married at Disney next year and was originally planning to do a Sago Cay dessert party so that I can get fireworks pictures in my wedding dress. I have decided to scale down the wedding a bit due to the fact that I signed up for my DVC membership....do you think I could bring my photographer up to the lounge to get fireworks pics from there? If so that would be wonderful - and a good reason to stay at our "home resort" for our first DVC stay!!!

I would suggest contacting DVC to run the question past them. You may get a "no" response or a "maybe", but I doubt that you will get a "yes, absolutely."

DVC has stated that access to the lounge will vary from one day to the next and they will not publish a schedule in advance. So you won't know until 5pm on the day in question if you will even be allowed up to the lounge that night. The lounge also has limited occupancy each night. Crowds have reportedly been light thus far but one never knows what will happen between now and your trip. If the open it up to all Contemporary guests, crowds could really explode.

And while they won't prohibit photography on the deck, they won't be very tolerant of setups or arrangements which impact the experience of other guests.

Oh, and unless they make an exception, your photographer would have to be registered at the hotel using DVC points to gain access. Room keys are checked for each individual before they are granted access to the deck/lounge. Disney has its own event photography services you could hire so I doubt they would waver on that point.

Thanks for the info - I thought it out after I submitted the post and came to the same conclusions - IF they would even allow me to have photos taken they would certainly make me use Disney Photography for it....oh well no big deal...we'll figure something out!

How many people are staying with you and what size room are you getting?

If you are in a studio, you can have up to 4 people on the reservation. 5 in a 1 BR, 9 in a 2 BR, and 12 in a GV.

If you have room in your occupancy, then just add him to your reservation. This will get you a KTTW card at check in with his name and "DVC Member" on it. Then he could use that to get up to the lounge, regardless of whether he is actually staying with you or not. Just give it to him to get in to the lounge and take the key after he's up there.
