BLT incentives....

Does anybody know when could the current incentives (Developer points and $5 off p/p) for the BLT will expire?

Could they be offered days before the price increment in January?

Or could we expect better incentives in late December-beginning January?

I know any answer could be especulate but, I guess we could get even better incentives as sales appears to be slow (they didn´t even has met the 1,000).

What do you think?

Only AKV price increase was announced for 1/15/09.
BLT was a minimum add on point change for existing members.....
No newbie price increase announced for BLT...yet..

Here's how it's stated:

NOW
Pay $104. per pt. @ VAK
Add on @ BLT for as few as 25 pts.

After the Price Increase 1/15/09
Pay $112. per pt. @ VAK
Add on @ BLT at a minimum of 100 pts.

No opening date has been announced but it's commonly assumed the resort will open on 1 September 2009. Points cannot be used before the resort opens, meaning that you can't use your points at another DVC resort while you wait for BLT to open.

I may be mistaken but I believe the BLT points are '09 Use Year allotment points. I haven't heard of getting '08 Use Year points with BLT purchase unless perhaps for December Use Year ? - maybe someone here can confirm that.

BLT is expected to open September 1 2009. Members who own points at BLT will be allowed to make reservations there as of March 1 2009 for stays beginning Sept 1 2009 or later. Members who do not own points at BLT may begin making reservations there beginning March 15 2009 for stays beginning Sept 1 2009 through October 15 2009 (& then moving forward as non-home resort 7 month booking rule applies - ie On March 16 a nonBLT owner may call to reserve BLT for stay beginning on October 16 2009 and so on).

And what Tara stated is correct : BLT points can't be used to book any other DVC resort for stays that begin before BLT opens. Same as AKV Kidani points - these too are not available to use to book stays that would begin before Kidani Village opening.

You get points in your account when your use year begins, you just can't stay on them until the resort opens. We have a February use year, so we'll get our 2009 points then. There are no 2008 use year points in existence.

As for having your money tied up, I guess it's a matter of perspective. To me it doesn't matter when I start paying - I'll just have my ownership paid sooner than if I started paying the month the resort opens. Getting 280 developer points to use through next October certainly helps, too. Of course, we got those retro-ed - they weren't a factor in our decision to buy.

Congratulations !! I had read the thread on DPs being given to BLT purchasers who initiated their purchase before the DPs began. Good for you !

We will probably just do a BLT add-on for less than 100 before the add-on minimum goes up Jan. 15 but those DPs sure make you sit and do the math and wonder if perhaps we should buy more to get them ....

We just did an add on at AKV and these are Kidani points and they are in our account now for our August 2009 use year and are fully bookable for Kidani (opening May 2009) or other resorts....at least that is what our account shows.....it does indiate that these points can not be banked, but they can be borrowed.?????

Yes these points are available for you to use right now to make reservation for trip either at Kidani or any other DVC but the stay can't begin before Kidani opens.

As to why the points from the Kidani add-on are showing cannot be banked at this point .... I would say it is because August 2009 Use Year doesn't begin until August 1 2009 and that would be the first day you could bank those points into your 2010 Use Year (?) but I could be wrong so you'd want to call MS and have them tell you for sure. They could be borrowed now into 2008 Use Year which is Aug 1 2008 - July 31 2009 but again, for stays May 2009 or later (Kidani opening) either at AKV or any other DVC.
