I haven't been around here for a couple years and am out of touch.

Are BLT rooms assigned before arrival or when you arrive?

In other words, how important is it to get there earlier in the day?

We have the "lake view." 2 BR. Sun the 27th.

Rooms are assigned prior to arrival. Some have said they had little luck in getting the CR to change the assignment once there.

If there is something you are hoping for, I would put in a request via MS and hope for the best. That is what we have done and have been happy with what we got.

Good luck and have a great trip!

We just returned from Bay Lake Tower and our room was assigned prior to arrival. We arrived early during busy Spring Break week and our room wasn't ready. We enjoyed the pool until we were able to get into the room. Loved the resort!

I think at all DVC resorts the rooms are assigned before arrival, even if you have not done online check in. I saw on another thread that they are assigning rooms two weeks out.

What happened to Room Ready?

IN the past, OKW would allow you to take a room that was ready if you arrived before the assigned room was ready. They would take out a map and say "you can take this room or this room or this one -- or you could wait for your room." WE have been able to get a room as early as 11 am, but sometimes checking in early would mean not getting all our requests.

That was OKW in the past. They haven't done that the past few times, but I think that was because the resort was full.

Room Ready was no rooms were assigned. Guests who arrived got the first room that was ready. And if they didn't want that room, they were able to wait for the room that better met their requests. DVC implemented Room Ready maybe five or so years ago.

But it seems like they don't do Room Ready anymore.

I really didn't like room ready. It stressed me to have to decide on the spot which room I wanted, although I had thoroughly researched it my mind went to mush!

We were at BLT a month ago. Arrived around 2:00, room was already assigned (had not done online check-in). I had requested an outer circle room, high floor. We did get one on the outer circle, but only 3rd floor. It overlooked the marina and although I would have liked to be higher it was a nice room with a nice view.

I stayed at BLT last December - arrived around 11am and the CM said our room was ready to which we were very pleasantly surprised. Until we heard that the room was not where we wanted to be and only on the 6th floor. We asked if anything else was available and she offered a room on the 10th floor which was also ready so we took that one instead. It never hurts to ask if any other rooms are available if the one they offer isn't what you wanted - the worse they can say is no.

This has been my experience at BLT also.
