We are headed down in about 3 weeks. With our conference tickets we get a "free" one time admission to a water park. We have a 3 year old and a 5.5. Which park should we check out and why. Thanks

Typhoon Lagoon has 3 unique features that set it apart from most water parks. Unfortunately, none of these 3 are appropriate for 5.5 or younger IMO.

So, were I you, I would choose Blizzard Beach :)

I do not know if you will find that much at either.
BB is more very big slides and coasters.
TL has more tame body and tube slide, two pools one of which is a wave pool that has 2 cycles... smaller consistent waves and HUGE waves -- I warn you to make sure to get a life jackets (free) and hold them with the big waves.
TL is a more family park... get there at opening and plan to leave around 12 as it does get very busy... likely you will done before that as I would think when they reach the 7 range they will have more to do if they are not afraid of big slides and tube coasters.
Both have lazy rivers but they take about 20-30 minutes to go around the parks which is forever for kids that age to sit still in a tube.
They would likely have more fun at the resort pool and mini golf if they allow you to use the ticket for that.

We LOVE both water parks, as do our 4 children (they were 8, 6, 4 and 22 months on our last trip though we've been enjoying the water parks since we only had 3 and the oldest was 4 and the youngest was 5 months). Our kids prefer Blizzard Beach. I love that Disney lets really little ones on many of their water slides. Our 22 month old was able to go on quite a few things and loved them all. My husband and I do not like the lazy river but our kids really, really love them at both parks. You can get on and off at multiple places, you don't have to stay on for the whole circuit.

BB doesn't have a coaster. The coaster (Crushin' Gusher) is at TL and it has a height minimum - one of those 3 features I mentioned that aren't really appropriate for little ones. The other 2 are shark reef & the wave pool.

BB, OTOH has a much tamer wave pool and an EXCELLENT family raft ride that is not only better & longer than the one at TL, but it also rarely has much of a line. :thumbsup2

Blizzard Beach IMO has by far the better children s area. It is beautifully themed with lots of age appropriate exciting things to do.
