My 4 year old really wants to do some of the tube rides at Blizzard Beach, but he doesn't swim. Do the tube rides generally empty out into a pool of water or something very shallow? I know some of the rides are too old for him, but there are a couple that look a little more tame.

Can you get life jackets there?

How deep is the pool under the part of the park where kids can walk on the "ice bergs" and ride the t-bar? Is that part of BB too old for preschoolers?

the tube rides empty out into a pool about 2 1/2 feet deep. The playground area you asked about is i *think* around 4 foot deep, and too deep for pre-schoolers.

Quite a few of the tube rides have double rider tubes. My 5 yr old couldn't swim so we went of the double rider tubes without any problems. When you get out I would get off and pull it over to the steps and he would get off. There were enough choices that we finally quit when I couldn't walk up another flight of steps carrying a tube. Talk about walking off those mini donuts!

The family tube ride is fantastic for kids who don't swim and the adults can have a little fun too. The kids area is also great but the adult slides empty into a fairly deep pool that is not good for a non swimmer as I quickly learned. The Lazy river is good also.

Just so yo know Runoff Rapids empties into 4 ft of water, but you have the option of riding in a double tube down the unenclosed slides. Teamboat Springs (family raft ride) empties into 3 ft of water, but the raft floats to about 1.5 ft deep before you are asked to get out. The iceberg area is 3-4 ft deep, I can't remember at the moment, but you can be in that area with them. Also you can rent lifejackets there and all you need to leave is a form of identification as your deposit.

The "iceberg area" has many features. The "iceberg" obstacle course part is, in fact, rather deep for a preschooler, and the older kids there (6 - 10ish) can get pretty rough. But there are also slide-type things in this area, and a zip-line that might work for your son. Check the guide map for height restrictions, just as in the regular parks. karen

We jsut got back and my girls are only 3. We spent most of the day at Tikes Peak which was a great preschool area. They had a little tube slide for the kids as well as a couple twisty slides. We also took them on the lazy river which they also liked but we were by a group of people that were being a bit rough and did not realize this was the relaxing part of the park.

My girls did not meet the height restrictions on alot of the others and I thought they looked too rough for them anyways.

I do recommend Tikes Peak though It is great!!!

Yes, lifejackets are available...I think you have to leave a driver's license but the lifejackets are free.

The icebergs are in a "training school" area w/somewhat bigger slides than tikes peak, but still smaller than the "big ones". The water under the icebergs was about 3 feet deep, but w/a lifejacket should be OK. Parents can also be in the water next to the icebergs as they cross. ;)

My petite 5 yr old enjoyed tikes peak early in the day but really wanted to do the big stuff w/the bigger boys. She enjoyed the family raft ride alot and the toboggan race (which was WAY faster than I thought it would be). The iceberg area and wavepool was where we spent most of our day.
