Blizzard Beach Lockers, Summer, and Cell Phones?

I have not been to Blizzard Beach during the summer before. We will be there in the middle of August this time. The upper operating temperature range for an iPhone/ iPad is 95 degrees F and 113F if turned off. If I recall correctly, the lockers at Blizzard Beach are shaded, but not temperature controlled. They are outdoors under a shaded awning. We were planning on hitting Blizzard Beach before checking in to the hotel. I am now second guessing that plan because I am not sure our iPhones will be safe as far as the temperature in the locker. Any tech or temperature experts out there? I know electronics are not safe in hot cars, but what about shaded lockers in the Florida heat?

We have the exact same plan down to the month and I had not considered this. Thank you for bringing it to my attention!

My husband laughed and has assured me that the locker temperature will be similar to ambient temperature outside and not like a hot car. ??? Maybe I’ll be bringing a thermometer and conducting an experiment.

Well then it sounds like you should turn them off and put em in the locker. You would probably split long before the temp ever got to 113 F :)

LOL... I think that will be plan...Powering them off and enjoying the day. Plus, I can blame my husband now if the cell phones crap out after leaving them in the locker.

I still can’t help but be curious about the temperature inside the lockers. I imagine my husband is right because there is a certain mini greenhouse effect happening inside an air tight car on a sunny day via the glass windshield that does not apply to shaded lockers. ? I need to ring up Bill Nye, the science guy.

We have crappy phones, so I don't care much about them at all. We don't use lockers. We just roll them up in our towels and have them in our beach bag. They're always fine.

Without their phones on them at all times, how would guests survive at the water parks?

Jokes aside, if guests are putting phones in lockers, it wasn't on the days I've been at the waterparks. Everyone seems to have their phones with them.

I did see quite the collection of various clear plastic pouches that could be waterproof.

We have one of these and it’s amazing! We love it! We use it at pool, the beach, various picnics/festivals or big public events where we may have to leave or chairs and leave something valuable. You just lock it to your chair. We usually lock it to the chair underneath in the shade and throw a towel over it. Or sometimes I just position t in the bag on top of the chair and lock it to it that way so it just looks like the bag is sitting on the chair. If it’s too hot out though or the chair is in the sun, I’ll put it underneath in the shade.

It’s roomy as well and hold all 4 of our cell phones plus a wallet and passports.

Unfortunately, we will have an iPad with us as well because we are heading to BB before hotel check in so I don’t think the safe will work for us. It’s a great idea for phone and wallets. Temperature wise I imagine the devices would be subjected to similar temperatures in the safe versus the lockers? It’s good to know that people have used these at the beach and water parks with on ill effects on their phones.

Why not leave the iPad in a locked bag with bell services at the resort? I wouldn't take one to leave in a locker at a water park.

I accidentally left my cell phone in my car in late May or June last year (so already warm in CA). I was meeting a friend and hopped into her car as we were going to a funeral together and did not realize it right away and too late to turn around. I was worried for my phone, but was not able to get it for about 5 hours of sitting in the hot car. It powered on almost immediately and then just told me it needed time to cool down, so I let it sit on a table while my friend and I had dinner and it was fine. Still using the phone almost a year later with no ill effects. I am sure it will be fine.

But I do agree that I would leave the IPad at the hotel in one of my bags that Bell Services would be holding. I have left my laptop with Bell Services in its carry on bag many times with barely a second thought. It is in a locked up area.

Our iPhones have survived the water park lockers in July and August, and we did not power them off. I am glad this issue was raised because I never really thought about how hot it could get in the lockers. I will definitely turn them off from now on.

Thank you for this. It’s good to know others have not had issues with their phones and the heat in the lockers.

I have stored an iPhone in the BB lockers during the last week of August on, at least, two occasions. I've never had any issues.
