I am looking for suggestions on getting custom sized faux wood blinds. We are getting new windows installed and need to replace the very old verticals, mini blinds,,, I was in shock at what a price dif an inch can make. Our home has non-standard sizes so home depot type(in stock) will only work in 2 openings, and that isnt a great fit but acceptable.

If anyone has any recommendations, I would appreciate it. I am still getting over the window costs. Thankfully we did half the house about 8 yrs ago, but this is quite a budget buster for me. Thanks!

You can custom sized blinds order from home depot/lowes...
my aunt did this to her home, she had the lowes guy come out, measure, order and even installed them. they asked them about which side they the strings to be on and how each blind will open...

FYI, both Home Depot and Lowe's have specials on custom blinds right now. Home Depot's is 20% off and Lowe's is 20-25% off. Home Depot's promo ends Nov 3 though. I know that Levelor has a line of faux wood blinds at Lowe's that are various set sizes and then will cut them to your exact measurements.

We used blindster and had a great experience. They were the cheapest I could find for what I wanted (wayyyy cheaper than Home Depot/Lowes). I got 25% off using a code I think, and I've seen as much as 30% off but that's really rare.

I was very happy with blinds.com. Did 22 windows for about $1,000. Quality is good.

Lowes carries Levelor faux wood blinds that they cut to length in store.

Before we installed plantation shutters we always had blinds cut to size at Home Depot or Lowes. Measure the inside of your window and bring it to the store and have them cut to size.

I have looked online at hd and lowes, HD has similar, counld not find online at lowes but will go in there today to check. I have a several windows that are 73 in wide and larger so they are not an instock item which is why I am looking at custom.

I will ck the other sites as well, including JCP. My mom usually gets like 20 % off everything from employee discount-even hough she is retired. I will have to ck to see if it will work on the window blinds as well.

Thanks for the replies. I will be working on this all day.

When I lived in California I used Budget Blinds. At least where I lived, Budget Blinds we individually owned and operated. I did research and came across a guy who owned his company, came out for the consultation and took all measurements and did the install himself. I was more than pleased. I had plantations shutters put in my living room, dining room and laundry room. I wanted the kitchen but due to granite and sink issues, it couldn't be done. In my old house, the windows were large and not average in size at all. If I recall correctly, it cost about $2500. I looked into the Home Depot and Costco route but in my area were very poorly rated. Costco by far the most expensive. They deal with Douglas with is expensive,

We bought off the shelf blinds at Lowes and they cut them to the correct width at no cost. They look great.

I was at Lowes on Black Friday last year, looking at the cut-to-size mini blinds.

Much to my surprise, the Lowes person actually convinced me that what I needed would be cheaper with the Black Friday weekend special, where they were 50% off. She was right, and we ultimately ordered blinds for 6 windows.

Need to do 6 more windows and a patio door, and I am hoping they will be on sale again on Black Friday this year!

We ended up going with blinds.com. They ate owned by Home Depot. When I called the home depot custom blinds number , the rep went over what i wanted, budget, sizes and timing. He offered to place order for me as their call center is for both.
Price was a little less then HD custom and was about 2 weeks quicker.
Thanks for all the helpful andwers!

We bought ours from Blinds To Go. They are all custom made with choices of faux wood or real wood.
I don't know if they're a nationwide chain.

This company, Select Blinds has the best service representatives I have ever contacted. http://www.selectblinds.com/
I measured incorrectly and they still replaced the blinds for free. They also often run a buy three and get one free promotion plus a 30% off promotion. Also, the blinds are top quality and very well made.
