Blind man and service dog get removed from flight other passengers stand behind him

What's I don't get is that they didn't seat the dog with the owner- the dog is a SERVICE animal, and he's doing what he's TRAINED to do. And why did the flight attendants ask other passengers or other passengers move when they realized that there was going to be an issue with the dog being separated from his person? My husband and I always get seats together due to some medical issues, but we would move for this.
