Blaze has an appointment for this afternoon

He wouldn't touch *anything* last night food-wise. I tried chicken (granted, it had been frozen and I know after you freeze it it loses some flavor), the moist kitten food he was liking, the packets with the gravy and kitten food -- he wouldn't even eat more than a bite or two of that, chicken baby food -- usually something he'll not turn his nose up with at all but this time only two big licks... not even chicken broth. I finally ended up mixing some moist kitten food (chicken flavor) with chicken broth (no, it didn't have any onion powder, I checked) and got it to a consistancy I could feed Blaze through a syringe and essentially force-fed him two syringes worth. That wasn't much, but at least was something.

So, I called the vet this morning and they're totally booked and booked on drop-off appointments which meant a squeeze-in wouldn't be seen until about 3 anyway, so I just made his appointment for this afternoon. He's looking better (brighter, more energetic, etc) this morning so I think it's safe to wait until afternoon.

Just to let you know I am thinking of you and Blaze. Its awful when pets are ill - like very young children, you just wish they could talk to you verbally and you could comfort them with words as well as hugs. Let us know how it goes .....

I really know what you are going through. It is so hard to tell when they can't tell you in words. I'm thinking of you and sending good wishes. Please post an update.

{{{hugs}}} Hope all is well with Blaze.
I'll be thinking about you.

Tammi

Good luck. If you are not happy with the opinion from this vet, you may want to consider going to College Station and having Blaze checked out by the clinic at A&M. My sister is an A&G grad and my mom has used the A&M vets before.

Again, good luck.

I'll be thinking of you and your kitty today. Hopefully it will be something simple (or nothing at all other than a finicky little kitty).

As an example: When I went through my cat not eating/throwing up episode a couple of weeks ago (for which I got a lot of support here on the CB), the vet thought she had eaten something she shouldn't have, but it ended up being an infection. Some liquid antibiotics and she's back eating and as good as new.

Thinking good thoughts for Blaze.

Kyle,

I actually very much like this vet clinic. I just don't like that they're 30 minutes way. I sure don't want to go as far as A&M unless I have to.

I'm going to have them do bloodwork this time -- they offered 2 weeks ago, but made it up to me and said they also felt it was probably related to the change in diet, and nothing made me think otherwise until Sunday evening. Now I'm worried enough I want the bloodwork done regardless, especially with how he was feeling last night.

Dodie -- I sure hope it's just him being finicky. He's always been a light eater, so him losing weight wasn't that much of a surprise. But to have lost so much and look as frail as he seemed last night -- that scared me and was too much.

{{HUGS}} Tammi... I can understand how you feel. Get that blood work done and hopefully you can find out what is wrong asap (if anything). My Gwenie is a bit more of a finicky eater as well (though not as much as Blaze seems to be) and it is hard to find something special she likes to eat for treats. I did just find out that she likes rice so I give that to her now and then (I have been told it is great for cats). Also has Blaze or the others been shedding? I know Cleo won't eat when she has a hairball that is about to come up (sorry if it is a little TMI). Actually I can tell about a day before if she will have one. She doesn't eat and sits around a lot more because she isn't 'feeling well' so hopefully it won't be anything for you to worry about. Hang in there and more {{hugs}} to you and Blaze.

I will be looking for a positive update later??
I have 3 kitty's so know how much they mean to you...sometimes I think they just like to give us a good scare!

I am thinking of you both...

Rajah I feel so bad for you and I totally understand how you must feel. You've already been through so much heartache with Sage and I'm hoping it's nothing but good news for you and Blaze this afternoon.:D

{{{{hugs}}}} to your little fur baby and to you too.:sunny:

{{{{{HUGS}}}}} Please let us know as soon as you find out something!!!

I sure hope they find out what is wrong with Blaze and he gets all better quickly. My thoughts are with you and Blaze.

Hello my friend. :) Thinking positive thoughts and waiting for an update! Blaze is lucky to have a mom who cares as much as you do. :)

Tammi, how's Blaze? Any news?

I've posted another thread, but I'll put the news here, too.

Blaze has lost over a pound in less than two weeks, despite eating more than usual. We ran bloodwork, but won't get those results until at least tomorrow and possibly Thursday. The vet said there were several possibilities, but because of his history, the most likely is the dry form of what got his brother. We're all praying for bloodwork to return with a positive reading on something treatable. We both think it will come back positive with FIP, but that doesn't mean anything since he was exposed earlier.

I do not want to go through this again. I do not want to lose him.

I think I'm going to go hide from the world for a while.
