Blah, and now March. Februarys wont be that great either. Westjet flights for January. Cancellations coming

That's really frustrating since on the app it still shows my flight as an upcoming trip. Guess I'll request a callback, and hope it doesn't take too long.
Yes, they are super frustrating! And I can never make the changes I need online, only having to clog the phones lines which they clearly can't handle properly at this point! :rotfl2:

I have been checking often...finally late Sunday night I noticed our flights were changed :sad2: :furious:

We now only have just under 2 hours to get through customs in Toronto to catch connecting flights both to and from Orlando.

We had purposely picked a later flight into Orlando (especially) to make sure we would be able to catch the connection. Now I'm unsure what to do.

Here is my question, because they changed our flight, not thinking about logistics, if we change it...does that count towards us changing our flights. We bought the insurance so that we can change our flights....but I don't want to burn up our " changing" rights - if that makes sense. I am unsure of what to do now.

Ugh. I hope ours don’t change. But I’m sure we will still have a direct flight the same day. Could just mean we lose half a park day if they move us to an earlier return flight.

we have had success when we call them and ask for a different flight than the one they placed us on as replacement.

Thanks. Maybe we will call this weekend to see what we can do. I have checked to see what is available, we might have to try to fly connect in Calgary flight. I'm scared that the direct flight out of Calgary will be cancelled too. Guess we will see.

we had our direct Van to Orlando cancelled and they changed us to go through TO. We called right away to ask them to change it to go through Calgary instead (just fewer problems than TO and significantly less overall time). Not sure how full flights are but recommend calling asap as others may do same. This was not considered a cancellation or change - we still have this option if needed.

My flight is Saturday. It has not changed or been cancelled (beyond a 30 min time change)...this will be the first time a flight I have booked with Westjet since Jan 2020 has not changed (or been cancelled)

Have a great time!

We decided to call WJ last night about our flights that they rescheduled without taking connections into consideration.

We have a scheduled call back for tomorrow at 7:00 pm :sad2: :scared1:

I'm guessing they are a tad busy with all the cancelled flights :rolleyes1

When we cancelled at Christmas time, right when Omicron was exploding and the phone lines were so busy, we chose the call back option. I think ours took 2 or 3 days.

They called back exactly when they said they would, the agent was nice and helpful and the whole thing took 10 minutes. Hopefully yours goes as smoothly. I will always take that option now vs. waiting on hold.

Yup. I figured it would be quite the wait. We will be waiting for the call back. Crossing my fingers about the flight changes. It is going with the flow and changes of things of wanting to travel during a pandemic ::yes:: I am trying to remember to be flexible and roll with the punches

Update on our call from WestJet

We were able to get our return flight home changed as we had a very tight timeline, and we scored the direct flight home. On the way down, our window is still short, but " claims" they took those timelines into consideration. Crossing my fingers we make the connection.

Once I seen dh download the ArriveCan app, I knew there is no turning back now!!!!!!! 21 days until we step foot in Orlando. I can't wait. Now to book a few other things from my to-do list!!!

Curious if anyone has WJ flights booked for early/mid March for Spring Break? We have direct YVR-SNA flights, and if not canceled completely, I fear they'll mess with them!

We’ve booked direct flights to the Dominican Republic. Fingers crossed that as omicron loosens it’s grip on us, fewer flights are impacted.

When we were talking with the WJ agent last night, he hinted that they may be adding more flights again, as crews are coming back to work after being sick. He told us to keep checking for different flights for our trip into Orlando as something may spring up.

WestJet cuts 20 per cent of flights in March, calls for reopening timeline (msn.com)

It would be nice if we could hear some news out of Ottawa on the future direction on the type of tests required to travel and maybe taking it down a notch or 2, and also fully vaccinated Canadians having to quarantine while waiting for test results if selected upon arrival. It would be great to have clarity from the government, when a number of other countries have moved forward with travel and testing.

Ugh I know. I really hope we get an update ASAP on this. Like if they know just say this will end March 1, or March 31, or whatever, just let us know the plan at least!

Thank you so much for the heads-up that the March flights have been affected. Turns out that my husband's return flight MCO to YYZ was cancelled; he has scheduled a call back to get it resolved.

You saved us much dismay by learning of the cancellations sooner rather than later. Thank you!!

My yvr- mco flights apr 2-15 were chsnged from direct flights to stopover in Calgary anout 2 months ago. WJ agent told me to check flights first week every month as that is when changes happen. So far so good for February and wondering if March will bring changes. I did find the scheduling a callback works extremely well and it was better than sitting on hold for hours.
