It looks like the Gold AP will work for the dates we have planned. I know our October 2016 trip is fine. Looking at the February/March 2016 dates, I THINK our February / March 2017 trip will be fine. We'll be on the February 26th sailing of the Wonder followed by four days at WDW starting March 2, 2017. That is too early for Easter and Spring Break.
Anyone think I am being risky going with the Gold?

The black-out dates will be the two weeks surrounding Easter. If you were to run into a black-out date, you could always upgrade your AP. If you had to buy the Platinum pass, how would that change your current plans?

Not at all. Getting a 6 day hopper and a 4 day hopper is infinitely more $$ than the Platinum at DVC renewal rate. Plus, we are addicted to Memory Maker. That is another almost $300 savings.

Buy the gold. Worst case; you have to upgrade. There's no downside if you're prepared to do that.

Do not say infinitely more expensive. We have to believe there is a finite limit to how much money Disney can extract from its addicts.
