Black Friday 2006 Buddies Needed for the Best Bargins Yet!!HOME FROM THE TRENCHES!

We don't usually end up needing too many things for black friday - most of the doorbusters (electronics) I already have something I'm happy with. Last year I did run to Circuit City at about 2 but it was somewhat organized. Only a few people there, and no one out of their cars yet. We didn't even line up til probably 4:30 when some high school kids came by and jumped out of their car. Until then we had a nice understanding of who was first in the "invisible" line. But the kids forced us all out into the cold. They came out before the store opened to hand out certificates for the doorbusters (laptop for $400, TVs, desktop PC, camera's, etc) and started from the front and when they were out, they were out.

Of course, the computers got slammed with so many stores online and crazy busy, so they couldn't process our orders. . . so since we had the certificate we could leave and come back anytime that day and the things would be held. So we ran over to Walmart - still crazy, but the madness was over which was great. The things we wanted there were toys for the kids, so most were still in stock (there was only one that we were going to get that was sold out, and it wasn't even something my lil cousin asked for . . . so it was no heartbreak that it wasn't available) Actually, most of their doorbusters were still in stock.

That was my first time doing Black Friday. I usually check a LOT the week of Thanksgiving to see if any deals are online. Walmart's good about that - my uncle wanted to get his wife a new camera and was begging me (guilting me) to go stand in line and get it a couple years ago. I called him at about 11 on Thanksgiving and told him the camera was online. He had to run and grab a few forgotten ingredients so he stopped by and we ordered. Had to pay shipping but the extra $10 was SO worth not having to deal with the crowds. LL!

I ned a computer for my kids too. Although I'd take a laptop for me for $300. I ned something to upload my photo's on when on vacation. Does anyone remmerb if it had a CD burner?
dvd/cd burner, on mine now!!!!!!!!!!!

And i thought my sisters and i were the crazy's ones who get up at two and get int he best buy line. We love calling out line cutters and having the best buy line guard kick them to the back. It makes staying in line worth it. But anyway here is the link to the 2006 black friday. It opens in sept. I love knowing asap!!!http://www.dealtaker.com/blackfriday.html

Because they price match ...

DH goes to WalMart at 11:30 on Thursday night, with the BF ads from all the stores, gets what they have available, and checks out shortly after midnight -the start of BF. He has never had a problem doing this. He usually does this for DVDs and such because stores usually run out of those items early. He says there is nobody there.

Just an idea ...

A warning though. I ran into a problem last year at Walmart. If it is a doorbuster, only available 6-9 am, and you check out before 6 am at Walmart, the cashier may not give it to you.

count me as one of the black friday wacko. I don't think I will get to go this year. I don't take the kids and my parents won't be here to babysit. DH and I usually go and shop till 10am then breakfast and home to start the day with family. I will miss it if I can't go this year. I may have to score some deals on line. :badpc:

Love shopping day after Thanksgiving. It's something I look forward to every year. Started about 10 years ago. Money was scarce in those days so I was very grateful for all the wonderful freebies. Not very many freebies these days. But I do love making my list, checking it twice and getting up in the middle of the night to stand in line!! :rotfl2: :woohoo: :woohoo:

who out there knows FOR SURE last year that door buster items were available for purchase online at the same time?? not you heard, etc. what did you PURCHASE online and get at doorbuster prices......my sil and i got the fisher price sets from wally world for $10 each last year....

I know there were, I just don't know what. Not ALL doorbusters were available, but I do remember reading on various black friday boards and even checking myself that there were SOME.

Last year I left my sister and mother at meijers to get $25 bikes (the kind that are suppose to look like choppers) well the police had to be called! They had told people to line up at the bike rack and their were some handicapped people in the very front. Well about 30 minutes before the price buster deals started, they called over the intercom that the bikes were going to be at the service desk. Naturally all the people from the back ran over and got the bikes. The handicapped people started yelling that it was descrimination. Thankfully, I had left them at Meijers and ran to walmarts in hopes of price matching the bike. Sure enough they had 2 of them and I got them both. My mother and sister had to take a taxi to walmart since we drove together and they would only let me buy one bike! Thats our best black friday story!
Sadly, I wont be traveling home for thanksgiving this year and I will just have to black friday shop all alone. Its not as much fun alone...

My favorite shopping day of the year. My mom and I are out by 4:30 each year. I'm sure it will get earlier as the kids get older. We are actually leaving for Disney that day but I told DH that we can't leave till the afternoon as I need to shop first :teeth:

dd and I enjoy going. Its not really a need though. there are a few items that I will pick up at the disneystore and TRU. I would never go to walmart or best buy, etc. just too dangerous and not worth the hassle. Plus you can always find a good sale if you look hard enough. I do buy online also since most of the items are the same price.

LOL Well I got sucked into it one year when KBtoys was still open near us and they were having a big sale on all the stuff my kids were asking for- legos($150 set for $30!!! that my son wanted- it was a star wars one)Kinex rollercoaster cheap but can't remember how cheap... everything was at least 30% cheaper than I had seen it elsewhere. And on top of that you got a free holiday Barbie with every $100 you spent so I got 2 holiday Barbies and tons of toys for all the children on my list. FInished my shopping in 2 hours! That rush brings me back every Friday(unfortunately my DH works that day so I can only shop until about 8 AM when he has to leave for work so I do as much damage as I can in that short amount of time. Oh and I shop ALONE!

Me! :thumbsup2 I'm a black friday freak, too! We've gone for the last four or five years. Around here, Walmart and Toys R Us are craziest. Target and Sears usually have great deals. I go with a group of four, we get together thanksgiving night, make lists and share, then we tag team standing in the check out line and shopping. We end up buying mostly for ourselves, but I love being out there in the midst of it all.

BTW, we got a great deal on a gateway laptop about a year. We had Office Depot Grand Opening and the new stores sold 15 laptops for $1500 with a $1000 rebate. Total was just $500 for a pentium M with tons of ram. We stood in line from 3am 'til 7am and we were number 13 of 15. I always keep a look out for those kinds of deals.

LOL, it's my birthday this year so I am going bright and early to get all my deals. Last year me and a friend of mine went out and we came home with thousands of dollars worth of merchandise for under $800 each. :cool1:

Just a little Black Friday tip to share. I look at the ads early - thanks to all the internet leaks:). I buy the itmes the week before and then just bring them back to price match that morning - a whole lot easier then trying to fight with everyone and then not getting what you came for. I did ths last year at Best Buy and they were fine with it.

Thanks Dismom, I never thought of that.

P.S. Do you have to go back at the early bird hours to get the deal for the price match?
