I realize our week two challenge is only ending tonight...however I have to work very very early tomorrow morning so I wanted to post Week 3 challenge tonight:

We have challenged ourselves in how we fuel our bodies and how we burn stored energy......now it is the week to challenge our conscious efforts made to form healthy lifestyle habits......these tasks may help you to slow down in your sense of rushing about, or maybe just do something nice for yourself :thumbsup2

Here is how it works; below you see a list of ‘tasks’. For the next 7 days you are challenged to complete as many ‘tasks’ as you can. Each completed task is valued at 5 pts. During the 7 days of the challenge, keep record of a completed task and at the end of the week turn in your final total score to your team captain, or designated teammate. For example, task #1 -- Spend 10 minutes everyday being active around your house while doing chores --- this is a one time task and you must complete it entirely to award yourself 5 pts. However, task #2 – Take a relaxing bubble bath/hot tub.....– is possible to complete this task more than once. Tasks that can be completed multiple times are marked with an *** Maximum points per task are noted

This challenge is on your honor system, be accurate and honest with the points you award yourself. After all, if you cheat you are only cheating yourself from forming healthy exercising habits

TASKS:

  1. Spend 10 minutes everyday being active around your house while doing chores -- MAX 5 pts

  2. Park in the far area of parking lot this week, at least 4 times *** (4 parkings = 5 pts; 8 parkings = 10 pts; 12 parkings = 15 pts) --- MAX 15 pts

  3. Take a relaxing bubble bath/relax in a hot tub *** -- MAX 10 pts

  4. Visit the library and checkout 3 books for leisure reading *** (1 trip checking out 3 books = 5 pts; 2 trips checking out another 3 books = 10 pts) --- MAX 10 pts

  5. Call or visit an old friend you haven't seen in a while *** (one call is a conversation not a voicemail or message :teeth: one successful call or visit = 5 pts; 2 combo of phone call/visits = 10 pts; 3 combo of phone call/visits = 15 pts) --- MAX 15 pts

  6. Spend 30 minutes of quality one on one time with a child *** (30 cumulative minutes = 5 pts; 60 cumulative minutes = 10 pts; 90 cumulative minutes = 15 pts; 120 cumulative minutes = 20 pts) --- MAX 20 pts

This challenge is meant to motivate you...not to stress you! You may choose to complete one or two of the tasks, or all of them. Let this challenge be want you need it to be.....to CHALLENGE YOU!

The challenge begins on Wednesday Oct 3 at 12:01 a.m. and ends on Tuesday October 9th at midnight. Your final score must be reported in by Wednesday October 9th at 3 p.m. EST in order to be included in the team score. Team captains will report in to each team and report the final results in their weekly team thread on Wednesday (Oct 9) evening.

Wanna know what you’re playing for?? The winning team earns bragging rights and the right to include a clippie of such in their signature until the completion of the next team challenge.

Suggestion – print out the task list and keep it handy to mark off each time you complete one for easy and accurate record

The winning team from the first team challenge will be announced later today once the captains have a chance to tally and add scores. I hope you all enjoyed the first two challenges and started incorporating some new healthy habits into your routine

Hey - I think this is a challenge that I can really do!

I was really "laughing" though, #1 (right on top of the list) 10 minutes of doing chores around your house - well ~ you see I am going to Molli's early Friday and staying until Monday - mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm - now is there a coincidence here - I am sure that if I asked "can it just be at the house you are at, for 10 minutes" it would be a quick resounding - WELL, OF COURSE ~ (I do believe that her mother taught her to "think ahead" - what do you think) - I'll let you know which chores I decide to do for 10 minutes each day while I'm there :rolleyes1 (or do you think she has a list ready and waiting for me ???)

Seriously, I have not been able to do a real good job on the challenges last couple of weeks but this one seems like a good one for me to just get moving in the right direction :dance3:

hehehehehe.....i really hadn't thought of it but it's GENIUS!! :teeth:

NOW that was smart planning! Molli, we expect your house to be sparkling clean!:goodvibes Bev, way to go to be sooooo understanding and taking one for the team!:rotfl:

And guess what? You have another task ready to go, since you are going to be there anyhow...
Spend 30 minutes of quality one on one time with a child *** (30 cumulative minutes = 5 pts; 60 cumulative minutes = 10 pts; 90 cumulative minutes = 15 pts; 120 cumulative minutes = 20 pts) --- MAX 20 pts
Does cleaning togethe count as quality time????:lmao:

Excellent challenge, I'm really looking forward to this one. Thank you! :)

What about reading a book you just bought or does it have to be from the library?

Also does parking 3 1/2 blocks away count?

Sorry this is my first challenge and I just want to be sure!

What about reading a book you just bought or does it have to be from the library?

I'd like to know this too. I'm already in the process of reading 4 books simultaneously that I purchased :coffee: (I like to buy nice new books, not read ones with other people's boogers on them  :lmao: ). Can those count? I mean for the sake of the challenge, sure, I could spend a lot of time and gas :moped: going to the library. But they are just going to sit in the car for a couple days before heading back to the library as there is no chance I will read those books I check out when I've already got 4 going! I also have to read 3 textbooks for school every day so that's about all the recreational reading I can do.

library books usually smell like cigarettes:eek: i always buy books ,does that count?

what if we don't have children or we don't kanow children? Does spending 30 min with your pet count??

Cheryl

Except for my professional books, I usually try use the library system-our local branch is fantastic! Using the library is cheaper for me (no cost), cleaner for the earth (reusing the books), and exercise (a mile each way) for me. That said, the book that I am currently reading was given to me. Thanks, Nancy! ;)

Oh, I do love books! :goodvibes I have a few in my home but they are mostly kids'. Do they count? I could read lots of them! :lmao:

hey gang -- thanks for posting your questions. it is late tonight and i have a very very full day scheduled tomorrow, keep on doing what your doing and myself and the team captains will put our heads together and post an answers soon! i just wanted you to know you're being heard

As the captains are reviewing the "questions" I am sure that Molli will be lobbying "for any house you are in" for the cleaning :rolleyes1

and yes - P Vija - I was thinking that I had the "quality time with a child" sewn up :yay: we had already planned to go to lunch at a really nice place we both enjoy.

Oh - I just saw the clock I gotta be "bipping" out the door in 25 minutes and I have not showered - but

I wanted to say I parked as far away as I could yesterday in my garage lot - I thought I was going to be late and so I thought - I will do this and get the pts and lo and behold I made it in time ! (just barely) but it was worth it - I do believe it will be dejavue again today on being late though - still I will go for the points

LaLaroo 78, Parking. Yes 3 1/2 blocks away does qualify. That seems like quite a distance to walk to me.

LaLaroo 78, AKbabe, & Big Mama, For this challenge a trip to the library is required. The trip involves parking and getting into the library, walking in the stacks, seeking and examining new books to enjoy, and also maybe finding something new you never knew was at the library. Reading your own material for pleasure is a wonderful thing and that may be included in a future challenge.

cherylp3, Quality time with a pet will not be included in this challenge. To accommodate those with no children in the home we have added something to the challenge. Instead of spending time with a child you may spend "Quality" time with DH, SO, a family member or friend. The focus here is on "Quality" time. Quality time does not equal watching TV or going to a movie. Try something different, a walk together or shopping (only if this is not a regular habit), playing a game, attending en event together, spending time where your can bond and share a special experience together.

It should also be noted with this task there is a 10 point maximum per experience. Example 1 hr experience = 10 points, 1 1/2 hr experience = 10 points (maximum). More experiences can be enjoyed but each will only be worth 10 points maximum for 1 hr.

Please post any other questions here. Thanks for your hard work to undertake this challenge and develop healthy lifestyle habits. It's always good to get out of comfort zone and try something new or enjoy something we haven't made time to enjoy for a while.

Have a healthy day.
