I have an upcoming business trip to Ft. Rucker near Dothan, AL. Family is going to WDW during the same time. I'm thinking of flying to Dothan, renting a car then after done with work (2 days) drive the 5 hours to Orlando the next day, return car there and meet family arriving at airport and all take Magical Express to WDW (I'll be staying onsite and flying home out of MCO).
I found that I can save a little by renting the car for the 2 days I'm working at Ft. Rucker and return the car to Dothan and then immediately re-rent a car to drive to MCO. I'm only charged the inflated one way rental for one day instead of 3.
Airfare isn't too bad to do that, not much more than roundtrip to/from MCO. But rental car one way is a tad expensive. About $140 for the one day rental from Dothan to MCO. Any other ideas, suggestions?
