So, all you Bitty owners, I need your help. My DD4 is getting Kit, either for Xmas or her birthday in February, and I ordered her the Bitty Baby starter pack a little while ago, but now I'm not sure if she'll enjoy it as much, especially compared to Kit. I'm most likely going to give her the Bitty for Christmas and Kit for her birthday, but what do you think? Is it worth it, or will Bitty most likely be ignored for the bigger doll? Thanks in advance :upsidedow

Well, my dd got Bitty when she was 1, Elizabeth when she was 6 and then all the others since then except for Addy and Kirsten (she is getting her for Christmas). She got the twins when we were in Chicago in July and she was turning 9. I think it depends on your dd. Mine still has them all out and plays with all of them. She takes certain ones on certain trips and they have all had their turn to Chicago LMAO!

We gave Bitty Baby to my DD on her 5th b-day. She loved her!

Bitty was her most beloved toy & she played w/ Bitty for several years. Around her 8th b-day, we started getting her the Samantha doll, Molly etc, but she never played much w/ them. I think she played w/ Bitty until she was finished w/ dolls altogether (around 9yo).

(My only regret w/ Bitty was that we waited until her 5thb-day to get her. She would've been perfect for her 4th b-day).

My dd5 got her Bitty from Gramma and Grampa last Christmas when she was 4. She has played with her regularly. For her 5th birthday she received Kit and although she likes Kit, Bitty is her favorite. I think she just prefers baby dolls. My dd7 on the other hand has never cared much for babies and went straight to the regular AG dolls. I think it depends on the child. For now, "Lily"--the BB is Kit's "younger sister". That seems to work out at our house.

My girls (5 and 4) got the bitty twins when they were 3 and 2, respectively. They desperately want an AG, but I won't get them yet because they are seriously hard to dress. I think they'll get frustrated with trying and I'll get frustrated with spending my day dressing and undressing this gal. With that all said, they've gotten two other dolls that are older, like Kit, Nellie, etc, but not true AGs. And I'd say the bitty twins still win out.

I think, in general, the bitties are just more suitable for little girl hands. The AGs are hard and not as much fun to hold and play "mommy" with. So no matter which order you give your DD her dolls, I think each of them will have their own special role.

Enjoy!

DD6 got Bitty at 2, the Twins at 3 and Jess (18 inch doll) at almost 5. She loves and plays with all of her dolls. She's getting Mia for Christmas.

My daughter got her Bitty at 2 and the twins when she was 3. She has since got Marisol and Nicki. She is getting Mia and her starter collection for Xmas. She still plays with them all. Bitty and the twins get pushed around in the double Bitty stroller. She takes Marisol and Nicki out with us. She was 5 in October.

I would do what you mentioned, give her the Bitty for Xmas and Kit for her birthday.

My daughter doesn't like to play mommy but she enjoys sitting with her my disney girl doll for tea, etc. She will be 3 in January and fell in love with Molly. We're skipping Bitty and going straight to AG dolls.

I will help her dress them, etc.

I just bought my soon to be 5 yr old the Bitty Baby Starter kit for Christmas. She was not at all interested in the other dolls and specifically asked for Bitty.

My dd4 got Kit for Christmas last year and this year asked for Bitty Baby, I was shocked she didn't want another big doll. She loves Kit but really wants a baby doll this year.... My older dd never had an interest in Bitty, just wanted and still wants all the big dolls:)

My DD who will be 7 in January has asked for (and will get) a Bitty Baby for Christmas. She has no interest in the big dolls or even the Bitty Twins. She just wants to play mommy to a baby doll.

DD8 got Bitty when she was 3, she got Nikki last year at 7. And she still loves Bitty. I would go with Bitty First you might even be able to save Kit for next Christmas.

My DD7 got a Bitty Baby when she was born. Has played with it since she was 2. Got a Big Sister doll (what we call Kit, etc) when she was 5. Now we have multiple big sister dolls. She plays with all of them. Even has a yard sale doll 1 inch small than Bitty and calls them twins. For Christmas she wants the Bitty Twins (because they are toddlers). Not getting them before my DH would not be happy - she already 12 dolls - not all AG. She may get them if she saves the money for them.

I'd give her Bitty now and Kit in the future. My dd is 5 and got the twins for her bday. She likes them a lot, esp now that I'm making them some clothes. She really wants a big one (Julie) but she has to wait until she is 6. That's my rule. Plenty of time for the bigger dolls in the future.

Glad to hear that people wait until DDs are older to play with the bigger dolls. By no choice of my own, DD is getting a girl twin (yes, I left an orphan boy at the store) instead of Bitty. Bald dolls kind of creep me out and my DD has had a head full of hair since she was born. So on the "look like me" philosophy, DD is getting one twin.

I was never interested in dolls so would do backflips if Bitty is a flop (sort of an I told you so). But I like the period dolls.

DD is getting the doll, starter kit, stroller and outfit for her bday & Christmas (4 days apart). None of it is from her parents.....

I will say the new store in Chicago is MUCH nicer. There is actually room to move. But no more theater... :(

Can't believe I'm joining an AG thread. They grow up too fast.
