So, as most of you know...

The K-Man on his VERY FIRST day on the DIS was "Tagged" by a Tag Fairy with the by-line of "Life is Uncertain, Eat Dessert First

Well, this came about as a result of out Gluttunous evenings at Bistro De Paris. For the 2 years prior, we would walk up to Bistro De Paris on the Friday Before Easter (Good Friday) WITHOUT a reservation and "talk" our way into the restaurant.

Once we have "gained access" we explain to our 20 something year old waiter that we would have "just desserts", meaning EVERY dessert on the menu.

BY now, this has become tradition, so for 2008 I decided to actually get a ressie. :faint:

Can you believe it? We had an ADR? :scared1: I don't know ... somehow ... there was a certain ... I don't know what that was missing about not CRASHING the place. :lmao: :lmao:

I'll take the blame for asking about the ADR. You see, last year when we were there, quite by accident we were at a table at which I could see Illuminations. Unfortunately, Mister Disney had an obstructed view see and there's really nothing worse than one person experiencing it, and the other one having to live it out through envy.

So, I decided to break our tradition of CRASHING and asked for ADRs. It was truly worth breaking that part of the tradition.

He returned and handed each of us our own copy. Tradition has it ... mine goes in my pocket ... so we can write the reviews ... while Mister Disney take pen in hand and decides which order EVERY DESSERT should come out in. Poor Garcon! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:[/SIZE][/B]

Mister Disney continued the ordering asking the tall, skinny, DESSERT DEPRIVED, French 20 something for a bottle of Pelligrino!

OMG MONSIEUR DISNEY! Do you not know ... we're in FRANCE! I began having flash backs of the Grand Marnier Flight over at Citrico's. Politely, the now RED in the face, tall, skinny, DESSERT DEPRIVED, French 20 something told us that he could bring us Perrier if we liked, but unfortunately no Pelligrino.

QUICK ... GIVE ME DESSERT!

Hope you have pictures.

NO ... we didn't get a picture of the tall, skinny DESSERT DEPRIVED, French 20 something garcon .... but we DID get picture of DESSERT!:rotfl2:

The Boss had already flown home to CT to be with his family for Easter.

See, I really need to take a few notes. Obviously no witty repartee flowing in my posts. I've even been in the charmed tag thread on the PodCast forum. Alas...NO TAG FOR ME (said in my best Soup Nazi voice)!

Also, I truly am not following you around, it is just that the titles of your threads seem to catch my eye. Looking forward to the dessert extravaganza!

Here we go.....1st Course.....
L'assortiment de fromages de France
bistrodeparis032108-010.jpg

French Assortment of cows and goats cheese served with mixed salad, toasted bread, pine nuts and chives.

So....our garcon brings our first course over and places it in front of us and leaves. :confused3 :confused3

What kind of cheese do we have before us? :confused3 :confused3

While he is gone we examine tonights offerings and notice that the plate and all of the cheese are ice cold.

Tsk, tsk, tsk....cheese should NEVER been served direct from the blast chiller!

So Garcon strolls by and we nab him to ask him what the cheese offerings are.....

His response?

"an assortment of cows and goats cheese" :confused3 :confused3

So....exploring our way around the plate on the bottom left side is what we would consider in America a goat cheese....directly above that would be a version of a brie (triple creme style)....top left hand side was a firm cheese.

on the right hand side, bottom...is another hard style cheese and on top right is a soft style cheese with a consistency of mozzerella, although not the taste.

Honestly? entire plate was bland....when cheese is served directly from the fridge it lacks the complexity of flavors that finer cheeses are known for.

Hint from Heloise....when creating a cheese plate for your quest, create the plate...wrap in cellophane and leave out to bring to room temperature for 2 hours prior to serving~.

Lets hope this course is not a hint of things to come.....

Good morning Mister Disney! :goodvibes

Sorry to hear that your cheese was served cold ... tsk tsk ... wouldn't you think the French, of all people, would know better?

I'm really looking forward to the dessert parade ... did you know that the first all dessert review you posted here is what convinced me to make an ADR at Bistro in the first place?

Some day I'd like to go back there and do just what the two of you did. :thumbsup2

MORNING!

Ditch Jay (bring Plankie along, he can hang with Happy) and make plans to join us next Good Friday!

YOU TOO can experience a dessert parade in person!

I would love to do this some time. Do you think all the desserts would be too much for a solo diner? ;) I think my next trip I'll do without the DDP so I can eat at all the unincluded restaurants I haven't made it to in the last few trips, like Bistro de Paris.
