I recently dined at the above.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was fantastic, service, food, price, wine, desserts, location, atmosphere.

I am only posting to help people who are unsure about dining attire at this restaurant.

I was told by WDW Dining it was resort casual. I was told by the podium girl to wear trousers not shorts.

Well let me tell you, we got dressed up, put my girls in the Nevberland club from 6pm to 12pm and we had a fantastic evening.

Though next time, I will wear a smart pair of Shorts and a shirt, not trousers.

about 80% of diners were in park clothing, shorts of all styles and t shirts.

No problem to us we were dressed for a night out, though I would of preferred to wear smart shorts and sandals. Whilst we waited briefly downstairs an American gentleman turned up quite scruffy and said " I want to eat now, without a PS, can you accomodate me" they said YES, and no question over his attire.

I know people have posted they have seen people turned away, well IMOA if your dining with your parter for a special evening, youre going to be dressed smart anyway.

Next time I'm wearing me shorts!

Cheers

:goodvibes

When we made a PS there I was told no tank tops, but that was it. We went in while visiting the park and were in typical park attire, though the guys didn't wear tank tops that day. That seemed to be the norm. A few were dressed nicer, some not so.

Doesn't seem to be a big deal, since it is a park restaurant.

Yes it is a park restaurant. but a very nice one the Bistro is on our must do list and we do get dressed up dockers nice shirt my DW will where a dress ,usally a late PS but most everyone dresses up, it's just the proper thing to do :cool1:

I went in denim shorts and a pooh t-shirt. My hubby (boyfriend at the time) surprised me there with dinner after a day at EPCOT. While standing at the door for my PS--there just isn't enough time to go back and change. It felt weird but we were treated wonderfully. I never questioned not being able to eat there.

If I know in advance of our dining arrangements--we all shower/clean up and dress more appropriately (i.e.--to code and not looking like we spent a day at the parks). However--I don't usually where questionable clothing to the parks--so usually it is adequate for most restaurants except V&A. That was a surprise too--but hubby knew what was in the suitcase and he had a "pseudo" restaurant that we were going to and as stated....I dress for the occasion when I know. What I picked out was appropriate for V&A.

Thanks for posting your recent experience, scousemouse. :sunny:

It doesn't surprise me at all. We were at WDW this month too and it was very hot for those of us from Northern climes. It would be silly for a park restaurant to expect any other kind of dress other then resort casual even at as pretty a spot as Bistro.

Any recommendations, scousemouse? We haven't dined there in several years and I don't even know what is currently on the menu.

I would think--if you are in the parks for the day--go as is...if you have time and like to freshen up before dinner--getting into non-sweaty clothes--kakhi (sp?) shorts and a button up resort-style shirt would be dressed up enough.

If Bistro were in a resort---I would no doubt think that it would at minimum be a slacks and collard shirt kind of place.

I do often see people arriving at EPCOT more dressed up than regular park attire (lack of sweat, coiffed hair, nice dresses or slacks for the men).

Given the price tag of the restaurant---it is kind of weird to spend $100 for dinner for two while you are wearing Pooh bear ;).

So wear what you will feel is comfortable--but if it isn't usually what you wear to the park--allowe time to go back to your hotel and change.

But as we read from the original post and several follow-up's-- it really isn't!!
And I'm glad to see it. When a place in a theme park begins to turn away folks (in a theme park) who are dressed like they ARE in a theme park, it's bad business.
But at least for now, it appears theme park casual will still get you in.
Thanks scousemouse67 for the post!!

We loved this restaurant. DW and I were park casual and we could have dressed up, but were staying at the WL and didn't want to go all the way back just to change. I think I wore denim shorts with a button down shirt and sandals. Had no problems. The service was great, and when I told the server, "Aujourd'hui est l'anniversaire de mon épouse!" he quickly told her "Bonne anniversaire!" and proceeded to bring out a special birthday dessert plate for her! Very very cool. :cool1:

The manager, Phillipe, is wonderful, as are the chefs here. I visit occasionally for a real treat (when I was training in the kitchen in Germany, Paul Bocuse was everyone's idol! That was long before celebrity chefs were an everyday occurrence)

Chef Christian created the most amazing veggie meal for me, and it still remains one of the best meals that I have ever eaten in North America.

We do tend to change for dinner at most full service restaurants, but I have seen casual 'theme park' dress here as well.

We eat here at least once every time we go. It's not only our favourite restaurant in Disney, but also one of our favourites in the world. When we travel,we out out as much as possible, and have eaten at fantastic restaurants in many countries.

Paul Bocuse, who was involved in setting up the restaurant and is a consultant to them, is one of only 26 chef's in France to have 3 Michelin stars (the highest accolade in cooking possible in europe). He has had 3 starts for an amazing amount of time, and would have to be considered one of the top chefs in the world.

What always suprises me is that the place is never that busy. I guess a lot of people don't notice it. Such a shame though as it must be one of the best French restaurants in the USA.
