Biscuit's Grand Adventure 2 - Adventures in Opposites *TR NOW ACTIVE!

Wishing you all a wonderful trip, and looking forward to hearing all about it!!
Thanks!

Perfection.

And there is nothing else to say except HAVE THE MOST MAGICAL TRIP! :cool1:
Thank you!

Oh good - I managed to get caught up before you leave! A coupla things...

I love - LOVE!!! - Touringplans. I used their original, tear out of the back of the book, plans way back in the day, then played guinea pig when they first rolled out a website form which you could create personalized plans, beta-tested the Lines app when it came out... yeah, I'm a bigbig fan. :thumbsup2 And yes, I continue to use their stuff for planning, even as an easygoing local. It's not always 100% accurate... but it's pretty darned close pretty darned most of the time. (NOMDE)

I'm giving you a ::yes:: on DHS for July 4. We try to avoid the parks entirely that day after 11am, but if I were to be in one, that would be it.

A coffee mug for work, you say? A re-release of resort-specific mugs, I say! No guarantees, but take at peek at WL; I got an SSR one last week and the CM said they're rolling out to all resorts, so maybe!

Have an AWESOME trip! :woohoo:
I had the same thought when it comes to mugs. Definitely gonna hit up the Merchantile.

Have a safe and FABULOUS trip! Looking forward to your reports :cool1:
Appreciate it!

Thank you sir! Hope you are enjoying Hilton Head!

Well all, we are nearing departure hour. I came in to work today.

That was a HORRIBLE decision.

Wound up having to do a surplus run and it was raining. You can't unload computers in the rain so I backed the box truck up under the awing to the base of the ramp. Then stepped down out of the truck where I (or I should more accurately say, my Southern Assets) discovered the corner of the handrail on the wheel chair ramp. Pretty sure I bruised my tailbone. The recommended treatment? Avoid prolonged sitting and standing for 2 weeks. :scared1: That'll make for an interesting drive and week at The World.

But I'm going to Disney if I have to crawl there. So time to make the most of it and break out a bucket of Aleve.

Operator won't you put me on through
Gotta send my love down to Baton Rouge

Made to BR, LA around 245 am. Planned to sleep later but my brain shouted Disney!

Happy report by backend is much improved.

East Young Man!

(Well, middle aged man anyway.)

Glad to hear that the hiney feels better. I damaged my tailbone over 10 years ago, and it still gives me fits now and then. I was on a log flume ride with my then-4-year-old daughter. I was paying more attention to her than to how I was sitting. When we hit the bottom of the big drop - oh, boy, did I feel it. I could not sit comfortably for MONTHS after that. If I sit too long at a time, I still feel a twinge now and then.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO on the tires and any kind of major expense right before a trip. I am sorry.

now I'm partially gruntled with a side of confusion.
I think that may be a permanent state of being in my world

Fifth, I packed my speedo and shaved my back. Okay not really, I just wanted to know who was paying attention.

Paying attention. Didn't need that!

Sixth, I STILL don't have a plan for dinner after AK closes on day 3. Or is it day 4?

Food will be had. Somewhere

Eleventh, I only want one item for myself this trip....a coffee mug for work. All other souvenirs are dead to me.

I knew I liked you

Fifteenth, I am talking to a Mississippi dwelling friend this week who is in the parks now and has had less than stellar luck with MDE and FP+ Kiosks. The combination of the app stalling out and hour long waits at the kiosk stands have pretty well kept them from being able to change any existing reservations or add any more FP+'s after their 3 are done. They are also reporting that on those rare occasions they have gotten the app to work, there is nothing left to choose from. I had initially planned on just having 3 a day to begin with so I don't know that it really changes a lot about the way our trip will go, but it is something to bear in mind.

I've not attempted the rolling thing yet but we were SO grateful for FP+ over the NYE trip it wasn't even funny. And were able to change things with the app, never used a kiosk. I really hope it works well for you. It seemed better in May than in Dec/Jan but then again, crowds were lower.

East!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One more sleep and then we hit the road. :drive:

I am currently a confusing blend of :woohoo: and :scared1:

I am excited to depart but as we say in these parts, I'm plumb wore out. It's been a LONG week so far and it is only Wednesday.

(It is Wednesday isn't it?)
I never know what day it is. One of the joys of being a staff nurse. Better than a staph nurse.

Second, I am still thrilled beyond containment about staying at The Wilderness Lodge. I know some see no value in the on property resorts. I could certainly serve up compelling arguments on both sides of the coin. But at the end of the day, I am beyond stoked about it and cannot WAIT to be there.
I'd be excited too! Heck, I dropped off a gift at POFQ and got excited like it was MY vacation! The CMs were so sweet and entertained my boys and gave them balloons. I love WDW. I think the WL would be lots of fun. DH is a Swolphin kind of guy.

Fourth, I have taken advantage of driving and filled an entire rubbermaid full of delectable delights. Over the weekend I whipped up a batch of home made beef jerky. I procured 2 bags of Julios Tortilla Chips. (Sidebar...the joy of that last item cannot be conveyed to the un-initiated. They are chips so freakishly good, you don't even need salsa....of course I HAVE salsa, lets not get radical...two jars of it...but you COULD do without.) I also threw together a batch of trail mix, grabbed some granola bars, picked up a case of water, added several cans of caffeinated splendor, got a case of the individually bagged tater chips, a couple of packs of individually packaged breakfast cereal, and added two bags of Jolly Ranchers for good measure.
Mmmmm....jerky.... Any particular flavor?

Fifth, I packed my speedo and shaved my back. Okay not really, I just wanted to know who was paying attention.
Watch out for razor burn!

Seventh, Rain is in our future. Ponchoed we be.
Tis the season. I remember driving down Orange Ave one day, the car in full sun, and it was POURING rain on the car. Gotta love FL weather.

Eight, I have been experimenting with HDR photography. We'll see if I get a chance to try it out this trip.
I think HDR is cool if used sparingly. Some people over sharpen the image and it looks horribly fake. Then again, I still miss being in the darkroom.

Ninth, I have a craving for biscuits and gravy.
As any good American should. Bacon or sausage gravy? I prefer bacon, with crispy jibbles of bacon on top. I'm hungry now.

Tenth, I plan to update as often as I can on Instagram.
What's your IG ID again?

I'm hesitant about FP+. Looking forward to your report!

Happy report by backend is much improved.

That is wonderful to hear- not so much ordinary news about anyone's back end but that yours is not talking back about sitting for extended periods.
:cool1:

I hope the surprise is all you thought it would be and FP+ is magical for you.

Yes I was paying attention for the fifth item and the pool filtration system thanks you. :lmao:

Hello Mr. Biscuit!

I just have to say that I binge read your entire last trip report in three days. All of it. I had a biscuit hangover afterwards.

But I absolutely loved it! I feel like we're kindred spirits in many ways and I very much admire your writing style, your close knit family, your faith, your love of lighting (I'm a film major and geek and so I notice stuff like light placement as well- I'm just awful at movie theaters) and I'm glad I could read all about your experiences at Disney.

Mr. Biscuit, I am grateful to have e-met you and I hope one day at one of the parks I might come meet you and shake your hand because I think you are amazing.

Finally all caught up! Hope you are having a fantastic vacation; looking forward to hearing all about it!

I don't know what to recommend about dining because I am going thru the same dilemma.

Your wasp encounter definitely gives me the distraction :rotfl: I need consider what I am going thru right now.

You doing okay, TD?

Okay, so I totally sucked at getting my hiney over here for your PTR posts, but I am anxiously awaiting your TR, especially the kind you messaged me about!!

Where or where is GB's TR?!? :confused3

:scared1: Eesh! That sounds painful. Luckily it only bothered me twice, one driving and once on Space Mountain.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO on the tires and any kind of major expense right before a trip. I am sorry.
Tain't fun that's for sure!

I about came to blows with my phone over that confounded app.

Have a magical trip! I hope you enjoy WL.
Thanks TD! We LOVED WL!

I never know what day it is. One of the joys of being a staff nurse. Better than a staph nurse.
That sounds about like the life of a support tech.

Mmmmm....jerky.... Any particular flavor?
The marinade I use is one I picked up about 20 years ago. 1 Cup of Dr. Pepper (do NOT go diet...it will make it the food bitter), 1/4 cup Soy Sauce (I use Kikkoman), 1/4 cup Worcestershire (I use Lea & Perrins), 2 cloves minced garlic, liquid smoke to taste. (I go for about a half teaspoon). Soak meat overnight or longer, lay out on rack and sprinkle both sides with fresh ground black pepper. I do mine in the oven since I don't have a dehydrator. (Meat straight on rack, temp to 170, door cracked open...I have a small cast iron skillet and shove the handle in, but a metal serving spoon or ladle works too.) I slice the meat really thin so it's dry in about 6 hours.

Tis the season. I remember driving down Orange Ave one day, the car in full sun, and it was POURING rain on the car. Gotta love FL weather.
That happened to me on World Drive when we were bringing back lunch. Sunny and raining. Very odd.

I think HDR is cool if used sparingly. Some people over sharpen the image and it looks horribly fake. Then again, I still miss being in the darkroom.
I managed to do one from the trip. Never had the time to stop and fool with all the camera settings.

As any good American should. Bacon or sausage gravy? I prefer bacon, with crispy jibbles of bacon on top. I'm hungry now.
Sausage with a MOTHER LOAD of pepper.

What's your IG ID again?
Same as DIS name.

Thanks Pat! Thought the pool reference would peak your interest! :rotfl2:

Hello Mr. Biscuit!

I just have to say that I binge read your entire last trip report in three days. All of it. I had a biscuit hangover afterwards.
You are to be congratulated. And pitied. That is no small undertaking! I appreciate you writing to say howdy!

My pretty much quit asking me what I thought of a movie because my replies were always about cinematography, plot holes, lighting, sound design, and other such mumbo.

Mr. Biscuit, I am grateful to have e-met you and I hope one day at one of the parks I might come meet you and shake your hand because I think you are amazing.
Thanks so much and back atcha! If 'ere we're in the parks at the same time, it shall be done!

Finally all caught up! Hope you are having a fantastic vacation; looking forward to hearing all about it!
Thanks! Staring the TR here in a few min.

You doing okay, TD?
Hope TD is doing well. LOVE your photos TD my man!

Okay, so I totally sucked at getting my hiney over here for your PTR posts, but I am anxiously awaiting your TR, especially the kind you messaged me about!!

Where or where is GB's TR?!? :confused3
It's okay, I stunk at getting updates. As to the TR, give it another hour or so.

EDITED - Make that more like 5-6 hours...didn't realize how late it was and won't be back for a while.

YAY, you are finally back! So looking forward to you report :)
