I was wondering about birthdays at WDW. I tried a search and keep getting a error.

My question is...We are planning a surprise trip for our DD who will be turning 5 about 3 weeks before we go. It will be part of her party (we will have a party here so she won't find out about WDW :ssst: party: ). Can I still get a Birthday pin and cake at a Character meal? Or will it be too far from her actual birthday? :rolleyes2

I don't know if there are any actual rules about getting the birthday pin but the ones my kids got at MK 2 years ago said "TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY". So if it isn't the actual day that might be a bit akward. As for the cake - I don't think that matters at all. When will you tell her about the upcoming trip? At her party? If so, then you could tell her that she'll be going on a birthday trip to WDW and she'll be able to celebrate her birthday/have a cake there too. Maybe even present her with a bday gift that includes some things for the trip (sunscreen, travel toothbrush, disney dollars) and that way you can firmly link the actual birthday with the trip.

I am not sure how I am going to tell DD. I do not want to over shadow her party with her friends. So I may just wait and surprise her later. Thanks for the tips though.

We are surprising our son turning 5 also. it is a last minute trip.
His birthday is on a tuesday.......on saturday we will have his party, then that night we will go to the airport...............SURPRISE!!!!
I am so excited!

Not sure about the pin, but you can order the cake and you just tell them its for your daughters birthday. They don't ask any questions. I know, I actually just got off the phone with ordering a birthday cake! They just ask what kind of cake , how many people it will be feeding and what you want it to say. Just have your credit card info ready when you call. Also, when you make your reservations at the restaurants, let them know, most do something special.
Not sure where you are staying, but for my sons 3rd birthday we went to POP 2 weeks after his birthday. When I made the reservation I told them it was a bday trip. When I checked in, they asked what his favorite character was, I said MICKEY. The following afternoon a CM delivered 5 balloons and a birthday card from mickey with a signed picture! You should inquire about this! It was one of the most memorable things from that trip. He still talks about it to this day...2 years later!
Hope this helps,
Julie

We always celebrate the kids Bday at Disney. It doesn't matter if it is actually their Bday or not. We always say we are "celebrating it today". When we do a weekend trip for my DS bday we celebrate all weekend LOL. He really knows how to milk a Bday
