My dd is going to be celebrating her 12th bday at the park. Is there anything special I can sign her up in advance for? She doesn't want a cake or party but I thought they might have special freebie's, or something that acknowledges that it's her birthday!!

Thanks in advance!!

She can get a free birthday button. They'll write her name on it and lots of CMs will wish her happy birthday throughout the day. You can get the buttons at City Hall (which often has a line). Or you can get them from a CM at some of the stores (like the emporium).

Free bag of tortillas at Mission Tortilla factory in DCA!!!! For DS we got a birthday card and had all the characters sign that instead of an autograph book for our entire trip.

I know you said your daughter doesn't want cake but if a lot of table service restaurants will give you a dessert on the house (just mention it when you make your PS) :thumbsup2

My suggestion is to plan something yourself. DD and I went in June both celebrating our birthdays. Despite notifying the hotel, vacation planning, noting it on every dining ps and getting a b-day button......not one single person recognized our birthdays...bummer:sad1:

Really? No CMs told you happy birthday while you walked around? That seems odd. Our experience has been that many CMs go out of their way to make sure they say happy birthday.

Thanks for all the advice! I think I will definetly get the button. Dd will love it if the CM's wish her happy birthday!! If we go out to eat that day, we will definetly mention it to the restaurants, gotta go for the free dessert!! A nice round of Happy Birthday is good to make any 12 year old blush :)

Aww...that is very odd. Even if the dining places did not give you a free dessert, the CMs should have at least acknowledged her birthday. So many people wished me a happy birthday when I wore my birthday button...even strangers! Did your daughter wear the button in a noticeable place (i.e. not covered by another shirt)? Anyway, I'm sorry that it didn't work out for you guys but hope she had a magical birthday at DLR anyway :wizard:

We got free desserts on our bdays, we all had a special meal at the parks or DTD and we all got recognition in the form of a free dessert, we also got Happy Birthday wishes from every CM who noticed our buttons and even from park guests, in fact when we saw people with bday buttons we would say "Happy Birthday" to them as well. :) But they don't really "do" much other than free desserts, altho some of the CM's with pins gifted my girls a pin for their bdays.

Zippo, nada, zilch. I never came back and gave a trip report even. The trip started off great and went downhill from there. I put it behind me and moved on. I just wanted the OP to not depend on the cm's recognizing a birthday based on our personal experience.:upsidedow

Bummer. We've been at DL for our DS and DD's birthdays and they've always been greeted by CM's with birthday wishes.

That does suck drag n'fly. I will definetly not pump her up for it, but the button will be nice!! Just noticed we live in the same city so lets hope it's not a ' Calgary ' thing!

When my son turned 5 we celebrated at Disneyland. He loved all the birthday wishes. One time when getting on the Pooh Ride, the CM did not tell him Happy Birthday. So he waited until he had his attention, pointed to his button and said, "aren't you forgetting something?" as only a 5 year old can. The CM quickly told him happy birthday, and when we got off the ride presented my son with a birthday card signed by pooh himself. That and the 3 trips in a row without exiting on Splash mountain pretty much made his trip.
