Birthday Trip To WDW (pre-TR turned TR) w/LOTS of pics COMPLETED 2/5

Ok, so this is my first pre-trip report so please bear with me. I will try to make it interesting. I hope whomever decides to read does so with enjoyment.

A little bit about me:
I'm 25 years old (to turn 26 on Sept. 14th while in the "World"). I grew up in South Florida. Boca Raton to be exact. My family and I moved to north Georgia when I was 11 years old. I've lived here ever since.

I've been going to WDW at least once every summer for as long as I can remember. I've lost count how many times I've been. :cutie:

I absolutely LOVE WDW. My older sister passed away when she was only 17 years old. She loved WDW more than anyone I knew so every time I'm there it brings back the best memories I have with her. It has sentimental value.

I work for my Father. He owns his own business and I'm his General Office Manager. It's a great gig.

I'm an anal vacation planner. You will realize this through my trip report. I've been to WDW many times and I still purchased the UG to WDW.

This is my DH:

A bit about my DH:
He is 26 years old (will be celebrating his 27th birthday at WDW Sept. 17th). He's lived in North Georgia all his life.

He never got to go to WDW as a child. My DM and DG treated him to a week at WDW October of 2001 for his very first trip. It was amazing!! He LOVED it and now never wants to vacation anywhere else :banana:

I have no problems convincing him to go to WDW for vacation. He's now been 4 or 5 times since then and each time we experiance something new together.

We have been married for 4 years now! I love being married to such a great man!

Planning the trip:
We began planning the trip April '07. We haven't had a vacation in over 2 years now (I miss WDW). I decided that we could finally afford another trip to the world this year since the DH is doing so well with work and I have two weeks of vacation coming up right around our birthdays. So, I talked to DH about going to WDW in September around our birthdays so we could celebrate them in the Most Magical Place on Earth. He immediately agreed to the idea! :cool1:

I didn't think it would be a hard sale anyways. As long as I do all the leg work, he's cool with whatever I plan. I'm fine with doing all the leg work. I'm an over planner. Especially when it comes to a trip to the World. It's just so fun to think about because every time I plan something else for a WDW trip, I feel like I'm that much closer to time with the Mouse. :cloud9:

The first thing I did was start looking for Disney Deals. At first, I looked into staying at the French Quarter hotel. It was too expensive :scared:

So, then I looked at staying at All Star. I was a little disappointed because I've stayed there before and felt like I was at a Holiday Inn but that's okay since all we were gonna be doing was sleeping there anyways. But still, it just wasn't the same as a Moderate resort. Yes, I'm spoiled. :rolleyes1

Anyways, even a Value resort was looking expensive but I just didn't want to have to stay off property this time. So, I kept looking and one day I saw that Disney had a new deal they were offering for a little while. FREE DDP for the EXACT time we wanted to go!!! :woohoo:

How could i pass that up!? I showed the deal to DH. He agreed that the deal was too good to pass up so we booked it that night. I believe that was sometime in mid April. We booked our hotel ressies for Pop Century. Neither of us have stayed there before. Any opinions on this resort? I haven't heard anything bad...yet.

We thought about flying down. It'd be easier than driving the 8 hours from North Georgia but since DH is still a little standoffish about fllying, I told him it'd be okay if we just drive. I can at least sleep on the way down. That will make the time go by faster, right? :upsidedow

Besides, I'll be on my way to WDW....who cares how I get there as long as I get there in one piece :cheer2:

The first thing I did after putting the down payment on the trip was go and purchase the Official and Unofficial Guides to the World. By my review, the Unofficial one is better. It has WAY more information. I've found good tips even though I've been to the World so many times. There's always something new to learn about that place since it's ever changing by the day. I would recomend the Unofficial Guide to anyone planning a WDW trip.

I spent the next 2 months stressing about paying off the trip :scared:

I finally got the deed done in the middle of June. It took a lot less time to pay the trip off than I thought :cheer2:

I must confess, I got those special order WDW maps that everyone is talking about before I even began planning this trip. I just knew we'd be back again some day so I went ahead and ordered them since they were FREE (I love freebees). The arrived in about a month. It was a HUGE surprise when they showed up because I had completely forgotten that I had ordered them :eek:

The are AMAZING maps. So beautiful! I know some people are scared to take them to the World and ruin them but I can't wait to get them to the park and break them in. It will be a great suvineer and a great way to remember my first birthday trip to the World. :dance3:

I will post again in a little bit with Day #1's itenerary. My fingers are getting a little achy and I need to go and catch up on my other boards :surfweb:

I am very sorry about your sister passing away at such a young age. That is wonderful you have great memories of going to WDW with her and you feel closer to her, by going there.... :goodvibes

you will love POP...BTW we arrive the Day you leave...Sept is great & Free DDP what a deal....Do ya'll still live in GA & is your DH a Deputy in North GA...cause if he is ...I think maybe he has arrested me Before.... :lmao:

Ok so on to Day #1:

Traveling:

We are going to be driving down to Orlando from Atlanta on September 13th. I plan on working at least a half a day before we leave. I know, boo for working before vacation but I'll need to be there to tie up some loose ends before we go.

We have four dogs so we had to find babysitters for them. My DH's side is allergic to our mutt so my DM and DD agreed to watch him along with our biggest dog "Bo". He is a Giant Schuauzer.

My MIL and FIL agreed to watch our two smaller dogs since they are "hypoallergenic" and easier to handle. That's Midnight (Miniature Schnauzer) and Lexie (a Maltese/Papillion mix).

So, while I'm at work my DH is going to drop off our "children" at the appointed Grandparent's houses and then drive the 45 min. to my office to pick me up and then we'll be on our way!! We plan on leaving around 11am. I work from 7am to 3:30pm so that will be a half day for me.

We'll show up at the Pop Century Resort around 7pm, check in and then head down to DTD probably for dinner. I don't want to do too much that night so we'll probably call it an early night and head back to the hotel after dinner. We'll have pleanty of time to explore DTD later. We'll probably go to the McDonald's @ DTD just to get a quick bite w/o the crowds and such. Don't want to over do our first night on property when we have 9 whole days to do what we want!! Plus, we'll have a FULL day ahead of us for Friday (sept 14th). I'll need my rest for my Birthday at MK!! :woohoo:

Oh! And here's a picture of the DH's truck that we will be taking down to WDW

I cannot wait to take a trip in this truck. We just got it in May so this will be our first trip in it. It's so big and comfy. It will be much better than going my my little civic.

Anywho, I'll post the itenerary for Day #2 tomorrow while I'm at work. I'm off to post on other's boards and then go to bed.

Thank you for the sympathy about my sister passing away. All I can do now is remember the good things about her and think about the good times i had with her. I'm so glad WDW made magic for us!!

I felt a little bad doing it but I wanted to feel special too. Especially since this is my first Trip Report and I am still pretty new on these boards. I haven't made many friends yet but I hope to make more by sharing my trip report.

That's awesome that ya'll are going in Sept too. I hope ya'll have a great time!

DH and I do still live in North Georgia. Paulding County area. My DH is a Sheriff for Cobb County. He works in the jail so I'm sure he hasn't arrested you but if you've been a guest then he's "babysat" ya. :laughing:

btw, I love kidders...keep them laughs commin'!!

Hey no problem! I'm new to this, too. I was reluctant to start a TR, but it's SO much fun and I'm meeting lots more DISers that way.

Oh by the way, I posted about RnR in reply to your statement about the "speculated" closure in Sept. I don't think it's gonna happen.
