I have heard mention of people saying that they are celebrating a birthday and get a special button or card etc... Now we will not be there for my sons actual birthday. It is 4 days later. We will leave Disney on the 10th and his birthday is on the 14th. do we have to be there on his actual day to get the button etc... Also who do you ask or tell? i was reading a dining review and the lady said that her son got a birthday button,a card from the characters, a crown and a special cupcake during one meal but that his birthday wasn't for several weeks. Before reading I thought it had to be on the actual day that you are there. Do you have to bring a birth certificate? I just want to know what is the right thing to do.
Thanks,
Lori

You can celebrate your birthday while you're there without providing any proof -- just tell them that you're celebrating a birthday when you make your reservations. Many table service places will bring you a special cupcake for dessert or provide a special placemat, etc. You can also get a button at Guest Services. I think they even have two different sayings. I believe one says "It's my birthday." and the other says "Celebrating my birthday" or something like that.

This year, Disney is offering incentives (free ticket or gift card) if you visit the park on your actual birthday as part of the "What Will You Celebrate" campaign. To receive your free ticket or gift card, I think you *do* need to show proof.

But to get the cupcake and placemat at meals and/or the button from Guest Services, you do *not* have to show proof. Just tell them you're celebrating. (We were there for my mom's b-day last year and had our big celebration meal (at Chef Mickeys) the night before her actual birthday because that's what worked out best with the schedule.)

We already made our hotel/ticket reservations and didn't see a place to add it . Is it too late? Or are you talking about restaurant invitations?

No it's not to late, just call the reservation for your hotel if disney resort and tell them you are celebrating a birthday! My daughters birthday was 5 days before we arrived on our last trip, but we celebrated while we were at MK. Get the button at the guest relations building. My daughter loved all the extra attention from the button!!

Both. As LPN mom suggests, call reservations and mention that you'll be celebrating (also mention when you check in). A lot of times housekeeping will leave a balloon and special card in the room for your birthday person.

Also mention it when you make dining reservations (and mention to the host when you're seated) a lot of times they provide a special placemat and/or special dessert for the birthday person.

The birthday button can be picked up at Guest Relations in any park, or at your resort's concierge desk.

I was wondering the same thing - We will be there on the 10th of July & my nephew's b-day isn't until the 15th - but wouldn't he be excited to get extra attention. Or do you think a 12-almost 13y/o boy would find it all too kiddy?

:yay:

We're going June 20-27, and my birthday is the 24th and my DD's on the 25th. I let the CM know when we made our ADRs, and she put the note on all of the reservations for the entire week.

We've had some scheduling issues with this trip and had (for a very brief time) moved it back to May 30-June 6. Same thing...when we called to make ADRs, we let them know we were going to celebrate birthdays that would be later in the month, and they still noted my DD's bday on every ressie made.

It does not have to be your bday to wear the pin or celebrate. But it does have to be your bday to get the free admission, or birthday fastpasses and you need to bring proof for it.Just be aware that they may or may not do anything about your childs bday. I have been to Disney many times and have celebrated bdays, My honeymoon, and anniversaries there. Aside from well wishes from Cms we never received anything. Not a cupcake, card, or anything like that. Cms will try to do things but a lot of times they don't. I would hate for your to expect something and then be disappointed.

I had a similar question, my dughter will celebrate her birthday while at Disney but my sons isnt until a month later. Will they just let him wear the button to get the attention, im not looking for the freebie thats associated, just dont want him to feel left out.
