We leave in a week to celebrate DD's 5th b-day at DL. Does she wear the birthday button all week or just on her actual b-day? What is the appropriate protocol????

I know several familys that have worn their bday buttons all week (especially for the kids). They get the special birthday wishes everyday. I know some may disagree with this, but actually at WDW last fall, my friend took her twins who's birthday was in the middle of the week and when they got the buttons, the CM told the kids to make sure and wear the buttons everyday they were there that week! They got so many cupcakes that week with meals that the parents made them take the buttons off at meals to not automatically get the cupcakes by the end of the week:)

Hope your dd has a magical birthday at DL!:wizard:

My DD has always worn her button the entire time we are there. :goodvibes

My husband and I will be celebrating our anniversary April 17-20 with a trip there and plan to wear our buttons every day even though our actual anniversary is April 28th. We couldn't be there on the actual day due to work/school commitments, so I hope noone is offended by this. :confused3 We wore our fist visit buttons a few years ago all week when we were in WDW, they told us we were supposed to. :thumbsup2

who cares? you are on vaca!. But i have witnessed several people wearing them all week. In disney I have worn costumes, pajamas ( to match my group at the Christmas party) pirate gear. She's 5. let everyone tell her HDB all week. have fun!

DH and I did that last September. Our anniversary isn't until early October, but we were there celebrating early! :goodvibes

Good to know I am not the only one! :)

I think wearing your buttons all week is what they want you to do since you are celebrating with the trip to the parks. Go for it, have her wear her button the whole trip. :goodvibes

I am not sure there is any actual "protocol". We were not told anything about how/when to wear when we picked up the badges. I had my son wear it on his birthday, didnt know people wore these on non-birthdays days. We as a family wore the first visit on our first visit which was the first day we were there.

BTW, other than wishing us a happy birthday, no one really did anything for my son. Would like to know which restaurants gave you the dessert? There were so many people with buttons that I just figured CMs would just tune them out.

The poster was talking about WDW with the free desserts.

You can wear them whenever you want. I'd say when you are in a celebrating state of mind, because that's what the CMs talk about, is celebration. The buttons don't say "today at x o'clock is my birthday", they just say Happy Birthday.

Now that said, after 2 days of wearing the Happy Anniversary button, I couldn't take it anymore and took it off. DH continued to wear his the rest of the week, because he loved the attention, though when only one is wearing an anniversary button it gets strange looks!

And DS will wear his birthday button ON his b'day and no longer. Last trip our DL portion of the day went really long, and we hadn't hopped to DCA as I planned, so I asked him to wear it on the next day for the tortilla tour...he agreed, but as soon as we were done with the tour, he had me take it off. He was DONE, because his birthday was done, and he had no interest in hearing "Happy Birthday" any longer than the one day!
