Hi all -- I really hope you can help me. DD is going to a b-day party next week for a classmate and I have NO clue about what boys that age might like. The mom was no help; when I RSVP'd I asked what character, show, etc. he was into. She wouldn't tell me anything other than he'd love whatever she got him... Anyway, if anyone does have a clue about either what to get or what to definitely avoid, I'd be forever grateful!!! I'd also like to keep it around $10.

TIA!

Kids still like that nerf stuff?

The guns, football that lights up, and other stuff was always a hit when I was a kid and wanted to get a nice, cheap gift.

Rescue Heroes! You can find them in the Fisher Price aisle. My son loves them and they only cost around 7 to 9 dollars.

Rescue Heroes
Beyblades
Bionicles (high tech-y robotic looking legos)
Lego kit
Matchbox or HotWheels cars

hhhmmmm---can you tell I am the mom of a 7 year old???

What else,

Uno (card game)
Gift Card to Blockbuster, pack of microwave popcorn and some juices? (Put it in a cardboard paint bucket, decorated like a popcorn bucket)

That's all I have for now, I'll be back if I think of more.

Debbie

It really is hard without knowing about the boy....

For my DS, at 5, He was not into the more advanced Bionicle, Lego, etc... And, there is a lot of 'babyish' stuff out there for younger kids.

My DS got some Jr. Lego stuff that was JUST PERFECT for his age and abilities. (His is the construction equipment) If you hit the age and abilities just right, then that will help your chances that it is a great gift.

At five, the little kids stuff will just not cut it. They want something interesting and detailed and real... But make sure that is kid friendly for his play abilities.

Kids like to be able to really use their hands... so simple things, like say a Power Rangers figure, may end up laying around, while a set with a cool vehicle and parts, etc.. may go over well.

Good luck!

One of my DS just turned five.

All of the above are good suggestions. If he is anything like my son, he'll just be glad that a friend showed up to play at his party:hyper:

You could get him something school related. I'm guessing he'll start school next year. A cool lunch box/crayons/workbooks. He is a good age to start introducing some preschool board games. They have quite a few cheap & easy ones for this age.

Thanks so much for the input. I was leaning toward the Rescue Hero stuff, but wasn't sure. I am making this way too complicated:rolleyes:

I have a 6 (almost 7 year old) and a 3+ year old boy. They both love Star Wars right now!

The older one also likes Ninja Turtles, Imaginext, and he loved Rescue Heroes when he was 5.
