I am looking for unique ideas for an 8 year old daughter's birthday party. I usually have really fun parties, but there are a few complicating issues this year. First we moved over the summer and she is now attending a new school. She has all new friends. She wanted a sleep over party, but I really don't know any of the parents and I doubt if they will be comfotable with this. Second, we moved to a rural areas that does not have the variety of places to have parties. Third, my daughter is biracial and the area we moved to is not diverse. She has had a few problems with peers. Comments like "I can't be your friend becuase you are black."
I want the party to be special. She has had a rough year (my father passed, our dog of 13 years passed, we moved away from her friends - just to name a few traumatic experiences).
Any ideas????

Hugs to your DD. Does she have a couple close friends? I would maybe just try to do something with just them. I live in a rural area too. We are having DD's party at the local pizza place. We do have one of those and that is about it.
