I was trying to decide between going to DL or WDW for our next trip and today my Mom says she will be visiting my sister this July/Aug. She wants to take my daughter who will turn 8 while in CA. So I am wanting some ideas to make her birthday special while at DL (w/out me :sad1: ) I have seen birthday buckets etc but I imagine they will just go for the day and not stay overnight. Is there a special dinner with a princess they could do?

Ariel's in DCA is the Princess Character meal. They have lunch and dinner seatings. You or your mom should make a PS ressie for this.

There's also a "birthday party" thing somewhere on Main St. The host is Pat E. Cake. They get to decorate their own birthday cupcake, get a fantasmic party hat, march in a birthday parade, etc.
I don't know any other details as I've never seen it...my cousin has and she told me about it. Both her brother and my husband are celebrating their birthdays while we are their in July...so we are going to the party!! :rotfl: So if anyone sees a grown man and a teenager in a parade with a bunch of kids...it's just because they have a mean family. :rotfl2:

Wahoo! Thank you they both would be perfect since Ariel is her favorite and she loves the baking idea.

Here is a link to some info. on celebrating a birthday at the park, as well as more detailed info. on the birthday party at the Plaza Inn which was mentioned here. We did this with my son for his BD last month and we loved it! It is only $10/person and Mickey and Minnie make a suprise visit to dance with the kids and pose for photos. The birthday sticker shown on the link is now replaced with a button, which is much more durable than the sticker.:) If you will be taking the monorail at all, you can ask if you can sit up front with the driver. This can be done at any time, but we asked on the day my son was celebrating his birthday, and it made for an even more special day for him! I hope your daughter has a wonderful time!:yay:
