We are going to WDW in January (after a family emergency caused us to cancel our Oct trip). My youngest, DS, will turn 4 while we are there. I need ideas for his birthday. (My DDs are 8 and 6).

Also I will be 5 months pregnant this trip. Have you ladies who have traveled to WDW pregnant found it necessary to go back to the hotel to rest or did you get away with putting your feet up somewhere in the parks? I'm hoping since it will be Jan that lines won't be long so standing in line won't be hard. If you have been in Jan, is that the case? We will be there Jan 3-9.

Thanks for the info.

We were there last January (Dec.27-Jan.4) and the crowds after January 2nd were considerably smaller. My guess would be that while you're there you shouldn't have many waits at all since most people will be gone by then (the 3rd and 4th might be a bit more crowded since I'm sure some people will stay for the weekend after NYE).

I wasn't pregnant then, but am 20 weeks pregnant now and we just got back from 5 days in WDW and we only went back to the room to rest once, and it wasn't even my suggestion. Don't think I wasn't exhausted each night and that my feet still aren't sore, but that was more from the intense amount of walking we did (for some reason we never seemed to want to do attractions near each other on this trip) than just being out all day. We did plan late breakfasts/early dinners (all sit-down meals) so that I had a chance to rest, and that worked out well and was probably what allowed me to be out all day. Other than that we just walked at a much slower pace than we usually do and made many bathroom breaks and I was fine. Another thing that helped was that when I wanted a small break, we'd see a show so that I was off my feet longer than a 1 minute ride, but that way I didn't feel like I was holding everyone else back from seeing attractions. We did stop and just sit a few times, but it was pretty crowded during our trip so we didn't always find a bench, but that shouldn't be a problem during your trip as I'm sure there will be many fewer people there.

For your son's birthday, be sure to get him a birthday pin. My mom wore one on her birthday this trip and got lots of "happy birthday's" and even got a surprise dessert and song at Tony's Town Square and the Main Street Bakery (and we didn't even tell anyone, they just saw the pin). Also, try to plan a special meal on his birthday, preferably a character meal since they often give you a signed card from the characters (Crystal Palace did this for my fiancé in March 2001). Have a great trip!!

Our DS has celebrated several birthdays there. Let them know at the front desk when you check in. He may find a surprise on his birthday in the room. We had dinner at 1900 Park Fare and they made a big deal of it but they also did it at Ohana. Just mention it when you make your PS and again when you check in to where ever you choose to dine.

I was pregnant (5.5 mts) on one of our trips and it wasn't that bad. The one mistake was we went to Typhoon Lagoon and I really couldn't go on anything but the Lazy River. I wouldn't recommend a water park while pregnant.

Thanks for the replies.

When I was 7 mths pregnant with my 3rd child, I took the other 2 kids on a trip to visit grandparents without DH. We went hiking and stuff. I just rested when needed. I know we will have a great time at WDW but I'm concerned about me needing down time when no one else does. Thankfully DH is good about being able to take all 3 kids on his own. (I'm sure we all know plenty of dads who "think" they can't do that!!) I tend to start swelling about 5 mths (of course, at about 5 mths is when my morning sickness goes away!!) so usually in the evening I put my feet up for awhile. I'll just have to make sure I do that at WDW too.

I can't wait.

I'm going in Jan (6-11) and will celebrate DS's 3rd birthday at Crystal Palace. We're staying concierge at the Poly so they are ordering a cake for me but you could call directly and arrange to have one. I purchased Pooh party hats to take with me. I may buy a Pooh birthday banner to take a group photo-or maybe I could make one on my PC-or get my DD(4 1/2) to help me make one. Maybe we'll go see Mickey in Toon Town for a birthday photo.

I went last year Oct while 6 months pregnant with baby #3. It was so hot that I did need a break in the afternoon as did my DD. I didn't find standing in line to be problem (lines weren't too bad) but did have a little trouble if we tried to rush. We were late getting to Epcot 1 night for a PS in Germany and it was a struggle to rush down the monorail ramp, through Future World and 1/2 way around the world but overall I think I did very well. I did loose about 5 pounds because it was so hot I just couldn't eat too much. I don't know how I would have done it much later. I carried VERY low with that pregnancy. I left DS home with DH as I wasn't up for chasing him. He's calmed downed a lot since then and I just can't wait to take him and baby to Disney. Baby DD will be 1 ten days after we get home. I think I'm going to do a dinner with a cake for her but not a character meal. I don't want my oldest to feel too left out. I just found out my SIL will be at Disney to run in the marathon on 1/11 so it will be fun to have dinner with her.

At least in Jan it should be a bit cooler. Counting down the days with you!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
