My dh is a thrill ride fan. We are going back to Disney for 7 nights in June. I was thinking of getting him a one day with Mears Transporation package along with a gift card for meals in the park that day for his April birthday. My dh ends up taking back the stuff that we get him for his birthday  so I thought this may be a good idea for something he may like. It wouldn't bother him to go on his own and I would stay at Disney with my son and maybe do a water park or Disney Quest.

Does anyone have any suggestions or an idea about how much to spend on meals in the park?

Has anyone used the Mears service to Universal from Disney?

Generally, a counter service meal with a drink + tax should run somewhere between $8-$10. I think I would buy a prepaid visa or mastercard and that way if there's any $$ left over he can spend it somewhere else.

I used Mears from WDW to Seaworld several years ago and it worked out great.

I was reading a few other threads and noticed some people are buying the gift cards for UO.

Some reported they bought them at the local stores in florida.

If you have the gift card, you go to guest services and get the cash value of it. Use that in the parks for drinks, food, etc.

That might be a good thing and what money that is left over, is not lost then.

I have read where some people have bought the package thru the banner wdwinfo.com that has the one day park ticket and mears transportation from disney to universal for the day trips.

other option is buy him a one day 2 park ticket.
sign up and pay for the mears shuttle transportation from the disney resort to universal. that transportation cost is $18 per person for a round trip ride.

do the figures and see what comes out best for you.

i believe the travel agency for wdwinfo is about $80 some dollars.
check that website for the details.

there are some car service companies that charge about $70 for a round trip from disney to universal.

what type of food does your husband enjoy the most?

pizza is great at Louie's
IFFF has great fried chicken dinners
Mythos has ts with a great menu
(and very affordable)
chicken wraps are great at Thunder terrace......

etc

Thank you to everyone for your suggestions! I think I may use the Mears package that I found online.
