I just found out about the Birthday Buttons at disney land, some of the things I want to find out are the following:

1)How much does the button cost?
2)What are some especial treats that come with it?
3)Do they require some kind of proof that the child's birthday is infact that day?
4)What are some of your experiences using the birthday button?

I hope my 11 year old daugther has a good time with the button. I will post pics when we come back which wll be around the 18th.

We went in March for our twin girls 6th birthday. Each day when you enter the parks make sure and go to guest services and tell them it is your daughters birthday. They will give you a button for each park! At each sit down meal make sure and let them know it is her birthday. I will give you some examples: Crystal Palace our waitress gave them a cupcake with candle and Tigger sang Happy Birthday! Grand Floridian was the best they had Birthday Crowns and a Birthday Placemat for the girls, whoever is at your table signing the book will sing to her. Spoodles was great with a beautiful cupcake! If you go to Hip Dee Doo Review they will ask who is celebrating a birthday and they will come to your table. It was a wonderful experience for them and for us! On the actual day of their birthday day we were watching the parade at Magic Kingdom and Sleeping Beauty waved at them and told them Happy Birthday it brought at tear to my eye. I hope this helps, do not be afraid of making the entire trip focused on her birthday! When else do you get to be at Disneyworld on your birthday. :bday: :cake:

I forgot, at our hotel they sent ballons with a birthday card signed by Minnie Mouse on the morning of their birthday! We stayed at the All Stars Sports, just let them know when you are checking in.

I don't know about Disneyland, but at WDW they are free at the guest services in each park. I don't think you can go to one park and get four buttons; they have different ones in each park. They don't require proof of birth date and you don't have to be a child.

I took my daughter for her 8th birthday.

The buttons are free.. and no they didn't ask for proof.
I surprised her only telling her the day before. We have to fly down so waiting till the last day was not an option..lol
All the CMs were extra nice to her! We rode some of the rides without getting off! On RnRR they let us through the employees corridor that went right through from where you get off the ride to where you get on.. and let us in front of everybody! We went on RnRR 10 times... in a row (for real) until I couldn't take it anymore..lol! Keep in mind it was late Nov and early Dec.. not huge crowds.. but there were people waiting. TT, SM, MS.. and I can't think of any others off hand.. we didn't even have to get off of those!

We had a character lunch at Crystal Palace since Pooh is my daughter's fav. I informed them it was her birthday. They had our table set with confetti and curly ribbon.. and a card for her. They also gave her a decorated cupcake. I had discreetly given a small gift to the CM at the entrance so she could give it to Pooh to give to my daughter, which he did, and all of the characters gave her extra attention... she just loved it!

When we returned to the CSR where we were staying.. on the table there were 4 balloons with a picture of all the Pooh characters in front of the Castle, and it was signed by all of them.

Everyone went out of their way to say Happy Birthday.. including other guests. The CMs were wonderful!

Your daughter will love it.. they'll make her feel very special.

I'll answer as well as I can here, only knowing what I've gathered from this and another message board.
1. Nothing! :) They are absolutely free from everything I've read anywhere
2. It really depends. They don't have to give you anything but usually you'll get plenty of smiles and Happy Birthdays!!! I've heard of people getting some kind of free dessert at restaurants and in Disney's California Adventure in California they will give you a free stack of tortillas if they are available at the tortilla factory.
3. They don't ask for proof from anything I've read. A lot of people celebrate their "Disney Birthday" or unbirthday while they're at the parks because they are unable to be there on the actual day.
4. I really don't have any since I haven't used them yet. That's soon to change though. I'm going to WDW with my mom in sept/oct for her birthday and an early birthday celebration for myself and DL in December for my real birthday. I'm sure others will have far better responses than me though! Good luck and Happy birthday to your daughter!!!

Thankyou guys for all that information, really helpfull, and I will make shure to take her to the restaurants mentioned and called ahead to the hotel.

Don't be too disappointed if they don't do anything at your hotel! I was all psyched up after reading the boards about all the things people get at their hotels. My DS celebrated his 3rd b-day the day after we arrived at PO-FQ a couple years ago. My DS-I-L had mentioned in when making the reservations and my DH had mentioned it at check-in and DS never received anything at the hotel. (Still had a wonderful stay -- so I'm not complaining, I just don't want you to be disappointed like we were because we were pretty much expecting something.)

Definitely get your FREE birthday button at City Hall. Your DD can also get a phone call from Goofy wishing her a happy birthday there. While at the parks, DS got sung to several times by CM's and people in lines. He also had a brass band that was walking around MK play "Happy Birthday" to him while we were waiting in line. He got a free ice cream bar at one of the counter-service restaurants. He even got sung to by the walking trashcan.

We're going in May '06 for DD's 3rd birthday. She won't turn 3 until July, but we are going to be celebrating that May. I plan on getting her the button because we will be celebrating her b-day then, not going back in July. I do feel kind of funny about her wearing an "it's my b-day" pin 2 months early. But, I read that lots of people do it.

I'm sure I'll get over it fast, since there's no way I'm doing DW in the end of July.

Thank you for all the tips!
I was wondering the same thing!

My DD's 8 and 11 b-days already passed, but we didn't do anything because we wanted to do it at WDW. So I guees it would be OK to ask for the buttons for both of them, they'll be so happy just to get some character or CM's attention.

We're going down in September to surprise DS for his 4th birthday - can't wait!!!

We do plan to get the birthday button and we are making nearly the whole trip about him and his b'day - although DH's b'day is only 1 1/2 weeks before we go so mom and dad are going to go out to dinner one night to celebrate while DS has his first stay as an official 4 year old at the Sandcastle Club...!

I am planning tons of things to make it special for him, so as not to rely on the CM's and resort, etc. I am bringing Disney birthday cards from home "signed by characters" that I will leave for him to "find" throughout the parks, etc...we're going to leave a bag full of little gifts on the bed from "Mickey", ordering cakes for him at a few of the restaurants, decorating our room/door at the resort, taking him to the World of Disney and letting him pick out his own present, etc. I sincerely hope for a little bit of WDW magic, but I want to make sure I provide it for him without him knowing where it's coming from just in case.

I hope you have a wonderful birthday trip with your daughter and please do post about it when you return - I am a sponge right now for ideas!!!

Oh and I LOVE what you did with Pooh and the gift, anc96, I am going to have to try that at Chef Mickeys!!
