Birthday event and need it to be super special

I am taking my baby girl in November, we are staying at the BW and will be celebrating her 40th birthday.

I need advice on 2 things
1) I have requested a room overlooking the boardwalk, but is there anyway I and guarantee this?

2) Decorations, she loves balloons and I think that I can order some to be in the room when we get there. How does that work?

Also if you are my child reading this, this is not your Mom posting, but someone else using my name (LOL)

A boardwalk view is a specific view..one that you pay for. So, if you have paid for a 'water view' then you can call and add your request of a boardwalk view. There are no promises though.
As far as a birthday celebration, try checking out Disney Florist...they have some great inroom type things for birthday celebrations. BUT....you won't be able to have them in the room for the first time you enter it. There is no way to tell, in advance of your checking in, what your room number is going to be. You could make plans to get checked in, and then head to a park. Then, ask that any decorations be done while you're at the park.

You might check out Memories By Betsy too, she does gift baskets. You could do a small one filled with a few things for the Birthday Girl

There is another 'personal shopper' service out there too, not sure if she delivers balloons though.

Like goofy4tink said, they won't have the baskets or balloons in your room though.....we always just check in and they tell us we have a basket. We tell them they can deliver it at any time. Sometimes we head back down to the food court to get our mugs, or they'll deliver it while we're bringing in luggage...either way the kids think it's special getting a gift basket from 'Mickey'.

You can also do a special order birthday cake (there is a cake thread on the dining reservations forum), and if you note her birthday on your reservation they will give you a birthday button upon check in.

I called about my reservation and asked about the Boardwalk view. They said that I had a water view and that they would 'request' a Boardwalk view.

Am I using the incorrect wording when I speak with someone?

I also did check out the Memories by Betsy and loved what I saw.

Yes, correct wording. They can't 'promise' you a particular view, but will try to make it happen.
It's only when a DVC member is booking that they can ask for, and get, a boardwalk view. That is a particular view catagory. But, when booking at the Inn side of BW, boardwalk view is part of the water view catagory....I would imagine because it is also a 'water view'!!!

I'm not sure about the room althought I do think you can request such a room with a view. Regarding something special, I used the Disney Floral website for my Mums' birthday and I was really pleased. They can't specify a time but if your not in they will go in your room and lay everything out.

I know this wasn't on your 'need help with this' list but just wanted to add my 2 cents...
I highly recommend a personalized cake if you'd like a birthday cake for your daughter.

We celebrated my son's 5th b-day at Chef Mickey's and I phoned ahead to request a Mickey cake for him. It was absolutely delicious and the characters all came over to sing to him. I still can't watch the video without tearing up. It was truly a magical moment and having the special cake made his day.
Then again, he is 5 and your daughter is 40 but hey, I'm about her age and I love cake. Have a great time! Your daughter is a lucky girl!

and I laughed because I have already looked into cakes!

We are such a sad pair that she finally broke down and purchased the embroidery machine so we could make matching outfits.

We have done a "surprise" with Disney florist x2. They have both been awesome!
I normally ask for the basket to be delivered after check in, when we are at a park or at dinner.

This year I ordered a special fondant cake to be delivered from YC/BC bakery to the Coral Reef restaurant. Check out the link above for cake chatter to see who and where you can get your cake from/delivered. Our cake was spectacular and well worth it!

Judy, how about booking a club level room? You will get concierge assistance and they will help you get the view you want, dinner reservations and they can shop on your behalf (with your credit card) and help you make your daughters birthday special. It costs a bit more to go "club" but maybe in your case having the extra assistance will help justify the expense. Plus you will get all the club amenities and your daughter will feel pampered!

I will be using the Disney Florist. She is a big balloon lover so you know there will be balloons.

And I called about the 'club' level and because of another event going on at Epcot, the only room they had available was a 2 bedroom. And that is a little over my budget!

I love all the ideas that everyone has and cannot thank you all enough

Be sure to check out birthday cakes. There are some wonderful links. I have had terrific cakes made on several occasions. With the Boardwalk Bakery right there, you should be able to get something really nice. Not cheap, but really nice!!!!
