We are in the planning stages of our first trip to WDW and my husband will enjoy a birthday on our last night (May 23rd). He is not a big disney fan like me, so a character dinner is not required, however I would like to book into somewhere nice, possibly with a fireworks display visable.
We are a family of four, children are 8 and 5.
Does anyone have any suggestions for us? We are using DP, if that makes a difference.
Thanks, all suggestions appreciated.

We just did the 7 day land and sea and did NOT qualify for the dp, so I am not sure about it being on LE CELLIER, in Canada in EPCOT but what a fabulous place for dinner. The food was wonderful. We have eaten in many restaurants and had never tried Le Cellier until I read from Posters on these boards on how good it was and they were right. :thumbsup2

Another place that we ate (in the past) was California Grill. Try to get like 7-ish even 7:30pm and request a seat by the window to see the Fireworks while enjoying your birthday dinner. We took our kids to CG and there were many kids at LE CELLIER. I believe both have children's menus. :thumbsup2

Good Luck and tell DH we all said Happy Birthday

CG would pretty well match up with what you've indicated. If you wanted something a little less formal, you could try 'Ohana. Either one would allow the fireworks option. You should check out the menus and service style as they are rather different. The kids '0hana might be more fun. No characters, but 'Ohana has spaced activities that will keep the kids entertained.

Thank-you momrek06 and T-i-double-g-err for those suggestions.

I do like the look of the CG but wonder how dressed up you need to be? As we are staying at POR, I would prefer to go straight from the park(S) as travelling between CR and POR is not very straightforward by the look of it, or do I have that wrong?
If there is an easy way to travel between the two resorts, we won't be hiring a car, then I guess it may be best to go back and shower and change.

Any thoughts?

I spoke with a person from reservations about setting up a birthday dinner. We did discuss CG and the dress code. Seems you do not have to be really dressed up, maybe a nice pair of shorts with a polo shirt for the guys and a nice shorts outfit for the gals. No beach wear or men in tanks. She did say it was more upscale than the GF Cafe where we finally decided to book our birthday celebration.
