What would your ideal restaurant be for a birthday dinner ADR?

We will be at WDW in September for my 40th birthday and would like to go somewhere special for dinner. We are a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children 16, 13 and 11) and will be on the DDP but are happy to pay for some things OOP.

I am not one for a huge fuss or to be singled out in the restaurant, just an acknowledgement that it is my birthday would be great.

Looking for somewhere not too formal but also not too casual.

Look forward to hearing your ideas :lovestruc

It depends on what sort of meal you would like to have. I have just had my 40th at WDW and I absolutely love character meals so we had dinner at 1900 Park Fare, we had kids with us and thought it would be a fun night for everybody, we then left there and went down to the marina and did a wishes cruise. I had a birthday cake on the cruise that I ordered before through the Grand Floridian private dining and the boat was decorated with a banner it was awesome. At the restaurant I got a birthday place mat and a cupcake and they did a big happy birthday for everybody in the restaurant.

I also had dinner another night at Yachtmans Steakhouse which was also a great night. There they actually print Happy Birthday and your name on the top of all of your tables menus, being a little more upmarket to 1900 Park Fare being a signature (but not over the top), it was a quieter, better quality meal, but lovely. I also believe they give you a little birthday dessert too, but I didn't get that because I have a nut allergy. You can also order a specialty cake from the Yacht/Beach Club bakery (private dining). We had one of their cakes delivered to the room for DS's birthday and it was lovely.

There are photos of my cakes in my trip report, there's a link in my signature.

:welcome: to the Boards!

I suspect that you'll probably get the full range of Table Service restaurants at the Parks and Resorts from the Aussies.

I celebrated a birthday at WDW...and ended up doing two things:
1. Dinner with my DH and DS. We chose to go to Les Chef de France a couple of days before the actual day. The meal was pretty good and we had a great time there. I didn't tell them that it was my birthday; so we didn't get anything special.
2. On the actual day, we went on an Illuminations Cruise with my extended family. There were 9 of us travelling; so we filled up the boat. DH surprised me with a cake that he ordered from the Beach Club concierge (I assume the cake would have come from the Boardwalk bakery and it was delicious) and Disney ended up decorating the boat free of charge.

I just noticed that AussieTravellers has also responded - and I know her pictures look great. I also have some picture of food in my TR links in my signature below (the one in May for the cruise and Les Chef...somewhere).

Dinner is also pretty good at the Flying Fish, which is on the Boardwalk.
