Wednesday 23rd May – it’s time to celebrate my birthday…once again!

The noise outside our cabin woke us again at 6.50am. I’ve worked out what it is. Our cabin is right next door to a storeroom that is used by the Cabin Stewards and at 6.50am when they come on duty they draw out their carts and start their morning preparations for the day.

We get up at 8.30am after falling back to sleep and like yesterday have breakfast in Horizon Court – I have Fruit, Cereal (the oatmeal is horrible), Bran muffin and tea, whilst Rick has a full English breakfast.

The sea is calm, but it is very foggy. Up here on Deck 14 you can here the ship’s horn blasting out every 2 minutes. Down stairs in our cabin, you can’t here a thing. Another day at sea and its time to do some washing, whilst the laundry is empty.

Morning trivia begins at 10.30am and we join the rest of the CC Team. We get third place and then stay in our seats chatting until 11.45am when it’s time to meet up for the Princess’s official gathering of Cruise Critics. One other person joins us along with the Assistant Cruise Director.

After a quick chill out session in the Wheelhouse bar, I attend the digital camera seminar. Hoped that I might learn something new, but the seminar only covered the basics. I have arranged to meet Rick at the Internet Café, after his 2nd session on Photoshop. So whilst he’s learning, I attend the end of the 2nd Wildlife seminar. On our way we pass the photo gallery and select our photos from last night’s formal photo shoot.

At 3.30pm, it’s ice cream time in the Horizon Court, which is made fresh every day and served with a variety of toppings. Afternoon trivia starts at 4.30pm and this time we win – hooray! Pens this time, I think. We arrange to have dinner with Nina & Peter tonight, as they are Any Time Diners as well, so we hop back to or cabin to change. Dinner again in the Florentine Dinning Room, but not until after the evening trivia quiz (we lose by only ½ point). Rick has a word with the Maitre De, as I did not receive my special cake and for dessert I am brought a lovely chocolate cake with a candle and a birthday card and the waiters sing Happy Birthday to me.

9.15pm sees us in Jammers again playing Big Bucks Trivia, which is based on Jeopardy. We bet everything on the last question and lose the lot. But we did have fun. There is a late night showing in the Princess Theatre of The Queen, which we haven’t seen. We are urged to go and see it, as it is supposed to be a good movie, so we go and we decide that it’s nothing special.

The fog stayed with us all day, but the sea was calm. Tomorrow Sitka – our first port of call.

I love quizes. Sounds like fun

I'd love to see the Formal night pictures. Did the two of you get all gussied up?

And this is turning out to be some birthday celebration Heather.:)

You sound like you are doing well in all the quizes

Another fun day at sea. Your birthday cake looks delicious.
