I've seen on a few people's signatures and post that they had a birthday card waiting in their room from certain characters for the birthday guy/girl. I was wondering what you guys did to have this magic happen? Did you call the resort and ask? Also was the person birthday during the stay?

I am wondering because DF birthday is 18 days before our stay but this trip is his belated birthday trip/gift, and I was wanting to do something special because I didn't do much for his birthday due to all the money being spent on the trip.

I had a b-day card signed by Mickey waiting for me in the room at ASMovies. My dad (wasn't with us) had called the resort to request it. We stayed at POR in Nov. and it was my DH's b-day. I went to the concierge desk in the lobby and asked them about it. They gave me a b-day pin to give DH and asked who his favorite character was and a Cinderella card was waiting in our room on his b-day. It was DH's b-day when he received his. I received mine the day before my b-day. My actual b-day was spent on the 17 hour road trip back home. :)

My son received a card signed by the characters last July, we were at POR. It was noted on our reservation, at check-in the CM gave him a birthday button and the card was left in the room the next day.

My DH made a point of letting them know we were celebrating my 50th birthday (we were there in September but my birthday was not until December) on our reservation and all of our ADR's. I received a birthday card in the room after checking in from Mickey and Minnie and I also received a birthday card at the Crystal Palace breakfast signed by Pooh and friends. He did not request this...he just pointed out we were celebrating a special birthday.

In the past when we've visited WDW during my mom's b'day, she has gotten one every time. We've always had rooms w/ at least one being in her name w/ her AP info, so I'm assuming that is where they got the info. We never requested it.
I have however seen where some people alerted the CM at check in of the special day and where some people have included the info on a fax they sent the resort a few days ahead of time.

Hope this info helps!

DH got a card about 2 weeks ago while we were there from Woody. It had 2 balloons tied to it and was in our room when we checked in.

When we were checking into BCV the CM at the desk was asking for names and ages of occupants of the room. I was listing kids and when I got to DS 7 I mentioned that he would be turning 8 a few days later. Just in casual conversation the CM asked me if he was excited to be at WDW for his birthday, if we had any big plans, who was his favorite character, etc. Well, 4 days later someone knocked on our door and I opened it to find a CM with a huge balloon bouquet with candy and a signed card from Lilo and Stitch. It was totally an unexpected surprise and really some extra pixie dust:goodvibes
