Birthday Cakes

Does anyone know of a great place to get a fancy birthday cake at WDW? My dd has seen all the fancy stuff on the travel chanel that they do for weddings and for Samantha Brown and really liked it.

We're eating bday dinner for her at Chef Mickey's...I know they have the special cupcakes...but do they have fancy bday cakes if you order in advance, too? Or is there a better place to get one at WDW and then just have it in our room?

We're doing an unbirthday party for my younger dd the night before at Park Faire. I'm planning on special ordering the chocolate slipper dessert for them that night.

We have ordered birthday cakes for $40 at several places. All have been very yummy. We did the slippers in January... beautiful and tasted wonderful. My girls were more impressed with the chocolate silk screening on the plate? The cakes have to be ordered 48 hours prior to the ps.

We stayed at the Contemporary last March & I surprised my hubby with a bday cake in the room. I ordered it on the phone in the lobby at the Contemporary & we had it in the room the next evening when we returned from the parks. It was really yummy! Since Chef Mickey's is at the Contemporary, I would imagine the same people would handle the cake that did ours. HTH!

Is the unbirthday thing somthing they do at Park Faire? I would be interested in this for my grandaughters, because this next trip we are taking them, as a collective birthday trip.
So any info on this would be great!

This Christmas, we ordered a cake from the Boardwalk Bakery for my child's birthday. It was the most delicious cake we have ever had. They will decorate it however you would like - characters, castle, wedding-ish. The Grand Floridian bakery was the one showcased on the Travel Channel with Samantha Brown. Either of these bakeries can be initially reached by calling Central Reservations. They can forward you directly to the bakery. Cost starts at $40 for a very ample size. The more you want, the more the cost.

We are going in Dec. for dd's 5th birthday. Since I decorate cakes for a living, I was planning on "sneaking" one in the car with us and surprising her with it once we were there. Is it o.k. to bring it with us, or do the resorts not like this sort of thing?

That would be completely fine. Most guests bring some sort of food with them anyway. Good luck with your plan!

We saw a family celebrating what looked like a 1st birthday at 1900 Park Fare. They had brought their cake with them, it had Cinderella and her carriage on it.

we will be arriving on the 11th october and it will be my partners birthday on the 16th,will 5 days be enough notice to have the cake deliverd to our room or will i need to get it done before we leave
i would be very gratefull if someone can help me out

I decorate cakes, too...this will be the first cake dd has had that I didn't decorate in 9 years. I wish I could sneak one in the car like you are ...but there's no way with our crew...plus we'll have to spend the night somewhere on the way.

The resorts won't even look twice.

I ordered a cake for DH's b-day in July 2003, they delivered it to our room @ OKW. It was a Mickey Mouse cake and it was delicious. Rich chocolate & yummy worth the $40.00 I paid for it.

But hey everyone should have a cake on their b-day!

They have an afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian with Alice and Wonderland and the Mad Hatter. I believe they celebrate everyone's unbirthday there...since it's a Mad Hatter thing and the kids make their own cupcakes.

However, my girls don't want to do that, so we're eating dinner at Park Faire and ordering the Cinderella Slipper dessert to celebrate my middle duaghter's unbirthday. Her bday is at Christmas and it kind of gets lost in the holiday. Plus her big sister's real bday is the next day and "it's just not fair..." or so I've been told...over and over.
