Birthday at Chef Mickey's ??

My mother is gonna have her birthday while we go to Disney, I was wondering if you can get a birthday cake at Chef Mickey's (not just the birthday cupcake) at breakfast and how early should I ask for it ? Also do you know if you can have Grumpy on the cake.. that's my mom's very much deserved nickname LOL

Okay, I am going strictly from memory.

You will need to call 72 hours in advance to arrange for a special cake. Since you want a particular character it qualifies as a special cake. If you want it at Contemporary you will need to specify when they need to have it by. The cakes were about 12.00 when I got one but that was a couple of years ago. The 12.00 are SMALL! It will feed about six people,if everyone has a small piece.

Are you sure you want Grumpy? I got a Grumpy birthday cake during a particular bad time in my life and what others thought was funny really hurt my feelings.Being at Disney maybe you could go with another character?

please do let me know what you find out as of this morning this is what i got

i spent about 1 hour on the phone trying to get in touch with ANYONE who would be able to help get a cake for chef mickey's, finally left a message, i get a call this morning and the girl tells me i have to use their cakes and its a basic cake (no shapes, or pictures on it)
my son is obsessed with herbie so i figure i could order a cake from elsewhere with herbie's picture on it and have it delivered, she tells me it was done once before but its not the norm, so then i ask what if i order the cake myself bring it in myself and you guys serve it, her response, well the cake would have to stay at your table the whole time we can't bring it in the back not even to the cooler!
*** i am sorry but its for a child's birthday why do they have to make it so hard!

can anyone suggest something? i don't know what to do i wanted something special not a round cake that i can get at shoprite any day!

I read that thread yesterday and it was really helpful ! But it does seem like you get a different answer depending on who you get on the phone. I can call today, do you think it's too early ? The birthday is January 3rd. I do have the ADR though.

Fast Pass.. My mom is a Grumpy maniac ! She has everything,from the beach towel to the hat, including snowglobes, T-Shirts, and her favorite a 36inch stuffed Grumpy I think the other thing she'd like is the Mickey/Minnie shaped cake, but it's so big.. there's only 2 of us. Even the small cake I planned to share with the other tables there's no way we'll eat it all especially since it's at breakfast with all the other stuff available.

To be honest I'm not really a cake person,but we're from France and it's IMPOSSIBLE to find American-style cakes here, with the writing etc.. every time we watch a US movie or series and they have that sort of cake, she always says "Oh I wish we would get one of those someday"..
Also she is a teacher, and usually January 3rd is when Christmas vacation ends. First time in 30 years that she's on vacation for her birthday, and it will be our first time at Disney too so I really want to go all out.
Fancy cake, balloons, and get something delivered from Mickey Florist the night before

Someone on the other thread said it's possible to special order the cake from Main Street Bakery or the GF Bakery and have it delivered to a restaurant. Hope this is still possible... Our ADRs are for 7.50am there's no way I'll have time to go to DTD and pick up a cake that morning.

Which number did you call ? They had this number on the other thread (407) WDW-BDAY maybe they'll be more helpful. I cant believe they are making it so hard, it's Disney.. they have to know that kids want something better than a boring cake.
