Birthday advantage?

We are planning to go to WDW over spring break. Friday is DD's birthday. I booked us from Sat to Sat. What is all the hype about spending your birthday at WDW? Is there any real benefit? Enough to warrant adding a hotel night?

It's only worth adding the day if you can make it to a park early enough...DD will get a gift card in the amount of a 1 day base ticket to be spent on merchandise in WDW or free admission to the park THAT day, or fastpasses good for a select amount of rides (good in one park only...no hopping with them).

If the extra hotel night costs more than the gift card, I say it's not worth it...unless you were thinking of adding the day anyway.

Are they still running the Birthday promo next Spring? Anyone know how long this is lasting? (if all of next year I may be able to convince bf for a short trip in December for his B-Day).

The Cm I spoke with yesterday let me know that. "Yes the current promotion, What will you celebrate, will be extended throught 2010." The bonus birthday offerings are still the same as well.

I just wanted to state that if you go and you get the Birthday Giftcard, it is valid for more than just the day of your birthday and it does not have to be spent in the same park. It is worth $79.00. I got one for my birthday. I spent part of it on my birthday at the MK and the rest the next day at AK. I had no problems using it the next day or at another park.
