Birkenstocks?

Yes! Both DD and I always wear Birkies in the parks - she usually opts for the toe-post (Gizeh) style while I prefer the 3-strap Florida style. The main thing is to make sure you wear them in as they need time to adapt/mould to your feet.

It took me a few attempts to feel 100% comfortable as I needed to get the sizing right - I had been going for a size 4 but needed the size 3 and that made all the difference to how they felt... :goodvibes

yeah you definately need to break them in - make them "yours"

I havent tried them out at disney yet, but i wore them when i was wandering around Poland last year. they seemed a little hard at first, but are great after a little while.

will definitely be taking mine with me when i go :)

I wear a pair of silver Madrid (one strap) "Birk's".

They're very comfortable for the parks and I find being silver they go with most outfits so I don't have to change my footwear often for daytime so they become really comfy...

Like Karen says wear them for a while beforehand though, even if it's just around the house, it helps!

Like Crocs, I think you either love 'em or hate 'em

I don't have a pair but do have some from Next (a little cheaper than Birkenstocks) which are really comfortable and stay on my feet, they fit well and didn't make my feet sore. They are my second favourite pair of summer shoes (after my Crocs). They had some lovely Birkenstocks on QVC yesterday lots of colours and styles not to pricey either about £37 not bad :) They should be on their website if there's any left;)

Actually, there's going to be a Birkie TSV Friday 20th June - they usually are great value...

You're welcome! And you can buy online via Quidco for a little more discount...

Don't tell anyone, but for all QVC queries, I'm your DISer... ;) :cool2: :rolleyes1

I love the Gizeh sandals. I wear them day in and day out at home and work but for the parks I prefer something that is strapped to my foot.

I bought my first pair of Birkenstocks (the t-bar shaped ones) a week before we went to WDW last year.

I didn't really get a chance to break them in. I packed my usual ridiculous amount of footwear to take with me - which ended up gathering dust. I was a bit nervous about wearing a brand new paid of sandals but, oh my, I put them on on that first day and lived in them for the rest of the holiday. Not a blister in sight.

DD had the single strap one and developed a blister on the 1st day and didn't wear them again!

The silly thing is, when I wear mine here even just for a 1/2 hour walk, I get a blister under my foot! I keep telling DH I'm allergic to this country and need to live in Florida lol

that's all i ever wear at WDW...
in fact, i only wear birks all year round :)

i wear the classic looking ones, with the two straps across the front of the foot, and no backstrap...

but DEFINITELY break them in before you go otherwise you'll end up with some very nasty blisters...

it usually takes me a few months to break them in...

I love them and have a few pairs. I could wear them all day, so the parks are no problem. Yes, wear them in first.

I got loads of compliments about them this last trip - I don't think they are readily available over there and are expensive for the Americans too.

Just back from Cosco and got a wee pair of Navy Madrids for £17.00.

Never wear anything but in the parks.

...

SNAP! ... round the house, round the park to walk the dog (in the summer) and round WDW for the last two years (I did invest in some new ones). Got mine from Costco but can't remember how much. I've actually bought some Crocs to take this year as well as my Birks and it'll be interesting to see if I find them as comfortable. 27 days to go :goodvibes

i bought a pair of crocs when they first came out a few years back, but i find them soooooooooooooooooo uncomfortable..
i know i must be the only person on the planet who's not comfortable in crocs, but what can i say....for me it's birks....the crocs are too soft and too plasticy and too hot....i can't stand the feel of the material and i can't stand how squishy they are on the bottom...i'd rather go barefoot than wear crocs...but i know i'm in a very very very tiny minority....

I find them really hard and uncomfty, but thats my personal opinion. I prefer my crocs, but my feet sweat in them, even though they aren't meant to.

I have just purchased a pair of adidas flip flops. They are the most comfty things i have ever had on my feet. Its like they are made out of memory foam.(Pillows for my feet) The official name for it is fit foam, not sure what that means though. and they only cost me 20 squids, BARGAIN!
