For the 3rd time since we have lived here there is a bird stuck way up in our chimney cap. I feel TERRIBLE hearing it flap its wings and chirp in distress. When the chimney sweep came to clean this year we had him look up there and he said they must be getting in the cap area somehow and getting stuck...it's not something easily accessible. Poor thing is just going to die a slow death up there...should we build a fire and let the smoke take him quickly??? DH said he could get up on the roof but is not sure he could do anything because of the way the chimney cap is built. :(

Call a chimney sweep compnay, have them open the cap and let it out, and then have them fix the cap so birds can't get in.

Is there a way to get a long stick like a broom handle and try to poke him through, thats what my parents did, bird had a hard time finding a way out, but eventually he did with all the windows open for him.

I have never seen cats so focused in my life!!

You need to call a sweep. I would be more concerned about the fact birds are getting in because if they are then you may get rainwater coming in and that is NOT good. Just ignoring it isnt going to make it better. It will get worse and then some other undesirable (raccoon, squirrel..) is going to find that hole in the cap and make it bigger.

And dont get mad at MOMTOCUTEST...tell her to get mad at her husband as he is the one typing this as he passes the time and she is oblivious to what he is doing on her laptop!! :paw:
