Billionaire Casino Boss Wages War Against Disney

Hey there Buddy...I have not seen you in a while.

Re Wally world:

1. Wal-Mart's goal is to shut down all small shops and other major discounts stores as possible and will then rape the public.

There will not be free enterprise at that point.

2. They have shut down many main St. USA and brought in minimum wage jobs and has destroyed many better paying jobs.

3. Few of those empty shops have reopened, until recently. The American Public is finial realizing the job they safe by buying American and locally may well indeed be their own.

4.Towns have successfully stopped Wal-mart from building in there towns/ areas.

5. In the last few years Wal-marts have actually shut down because locals have woken up and are not shopping there.

6. Workers are slowly unionizing or at least working together to improve employee jobs, pay, hours and benefits.

7. With Obmamacare shut down medical benefits to so many part timers, they are working 2 jobs, which in time will reverse and add full time. In the mean time sweat box stores like Wal-Marts are going to have problems getting workers.

Bottom Line, if we want to improve jobs in the US, we have to buy USA. There is plenty of Made in the USA on line and in the better stores if you look for the label.

Buy USA. Sigh. Doesn't that make you a bit uneasy on a Disney thread.

For example.

ABC (owned by Disney) has an ongoing segment called "Made in America". It began when Jonathan Karl visited a Smithsonian gift shop and could find nothing made in America.

I think it 's a wonderful series. Most recently legislation passed which requires all flags used by our military be made in the USA. That just makes sense!!

It makes us stop, take a moment to see where something is made ---- to pay attention. These are potential US jobs!

Fast forward to reality. Walk into a Disney gift shop. How many gift's will you find there made in the US.

Too bad the series is too afraid to turn the camera on the parent company. Can you imagine how many jobs Disney could create here if they bought American. The quality would improve too!

The series has also proven the price no longer has to go through the roof to buy American.

Good points all of them!.

I am a big Disney Fan, but it would not bother me one little bit if they had a ....say 50% of all shop items are made in the USA!

The problem with most of the small mom and pop businesses ARE the prices. While I would love to go to the small clothing store down the street from my house, I can't afford it. When I can go to Walmart and buy two pairs of jeans for my son for $20, but the small store wants $55 for one pair, I have to go with what my wallet will allow. As fast as my son out grows his jeans, the quality of the jeans is a moot point.

I've read Walmart is concerned with losing business to the internet. I don't think that many local businesses are taking enough business back from Walmart to impact WMs bottom line.

A company which competes primarily on price is always at risk of being undercut by a seller with lower overhead. Toys R Us did a number on local toy stores. Walmart, Target and warehouse stores did a number of Toys R Us.

I get more active when closer to a new trip. Hence i am back.

We will just have to disagree about Wally World. I prefer Target anyways.

If anyone is interested in a facinating read about how the Mob, through the Rendell Administration, got gambling through the Pennsylvania Legislature AGAINST the wishes of the citizens please read the following non-fiction book. This is amazing that it happened in full view, in the information age. $9 on Amazon. If anyone enjoyed reading "I Heard You Paint Houses" this book is for you.

It was prublished in 2013 and ends with things that happened since 2010 and are probably still happening today.

"The Quiet Don: The Untold Story of Mafia Kingpin Russell Bufalino" by Matt Birkbeck

To what extent was Rosario “Russell” Bufalino involved in the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa in 1975? In the CIA’s recruitment of gangsters to assassinate Fidel Castro? In organizing the historic meeting of crime chieftains in 1957? Even in the production of The Godfather movie?

Secretive—even reclusive—Russell Bufalino quietly built his organized crime empire in the decades between Prohibition and the Carter presidency. His reach extended far beyond the coal country of Scranton, Pennsylvania, and quaint Amish farms near Lancaster. Bufalino had a hand in global, national, and local politics of the largest American cities, many of its major industries, and controlled the powerful Teamsters Union. His influence also reached the highest levels of Pennsylvania government and halls of Congress, and his legacy left a culture of corruption that continues to this day.

A uniquely American saga that spans six decades, The Quiet Don follows Russell Bufalino’s remarkably quiet ascent from Sicilian immigrant to mob soldier to a man described by a United States Senate subcommittee in 1964 as “one of the most ruthless and powerful leaders of the Mafia in the United States.”

No offense, Mary Kate... But as a born and bred commonwealther...it's naive to think that anyone in pa is opposing gambling on more than a lip service level..,

I trust not Slick Eddie either...anyone who does football commentary for a pathetic franchise while serving in the governor's mansion sets new levels of stupidity in my book...but...that state can't seem to figure how to function without pulling rocks and gases out of the ground... And that had been needed since the 70's...

The current guy has sold 3/4 of he state to mineral pirates...and is destroying the place slowly. The people are just too dumb to grasp it now... especially western Pa - who now think they're from texas or arkansas and look silly and traitors to their ancestry because of it. But it was about money...just like the gambling.

That state is paralyzed and anything that give the promise of a buck will be approved...doesn't matter if its delivered.
