He has been gone from CNN for a few months. I caught a glimpse of him on FOX News and cheered. Really, I pumped my arms in the air and cheered. My husband thought I was a nut job, but I've always thought he was a fine correspondent and anchor. He's easy on the eyes, too.
When I learned he was leaving, I read a few pieces from other news outlets online. I think cbs or abc. It stated that he relied too much on the producers, for questions during interviews and such. They said Miles O'Brien (Soladad's new co-anchor) was a better fit for the direction CNN wanted American Morning to move in.
Hemmer was not fired from CNN. During a reorganization earlier in the year, Hemmer was told he would no longer be the anchor of the American Morning show...and instead be returned to the position of the White House correspondent.
Unfortunately, CNN didn't bother to tell Hemmer until very late in the game. He was not necessarily opposed to taking the position of White House Correspondent, but the way CNN handled the matter angered him enough to leave before taking the position.
The changes took place in early June. Hemmer was picked up by the Fox network.

Not completely sure I believe that, because I know CNN offered Hemmer the White House Correspondent job when they shifted him off American Morning, and the WH job involves far more independent questioning than traditional news anchor work. It wouldn't make sense if the complaint had been that he relied too hard on producers. Who really knows, though.
I didn't know there was a newscaster named Miles O'Brien. Does this make any other Trekkies giggle? I don't think that the one on Deep Space Nine would be good on the news. His head is too big.

I didn't believe it either. I've always thought he was pretty quick on his feet. It seems like I read that he wanted to stay in NY, too. I'm just glad to see him back on the tube.
Me too. Miles O'Brien always kind of made me sick. Especially when Paula Zahn used to anchor American Morning and Miles and Paula would flirt with each other - ewwwwww....
And then I discovered Fox & Friends and never turned back.
