Bike Barn: Current rates... and weekly rentals?

Hey, campers and campettes!

I'm heading to Disney a week from today, my first stay at Fort Wilderness. No, I ain't camping... this boy don't play that. We've rented three cabins, which is about as close as I get to the great outdoors.

Anyway, here's my question:

We've already reserved a golf cart, mainly for the grandparents.
I was thinking about also getting a couple bikes. But I can't find current rates for the Bike Barn... anybody have a CURRENT link? Or know off the top of their heads... and is there a weekly rental rate?

No, there is not a weekly rental rate on the bikes. It is by the hour. They rentals are designed to just take an excursion around the campground, not to be used as everyday transportation. I really don't know what the hourly rate is.

You would be better off going to Wal-Mart and purchasing a couple of bikes and then donating them at the end of the trip.

That's too bad. Seems like I may have found one of the rare areas where Disney's missing the opportunity to make a nice bundle of cash. I'd love to be able to rent a bike for the week, use it the way others do electric carts.

You probably can buy a couple nice bikes for what they would charge, depends on what your driving to get them there.

If you have a AAA card ask if they will apply the discount. I know we did this when we rented bikes at the WL. There is no sign that says they offer a AAA discount...but if you ask, they will apply it. At least they did then..it was three years ago...not sure if they currently offer it.

Unfortunately, we're not driving. We are, however, a clan led by a major spendthrift who would rather throw cash at a convenience than have to be inconvenienced and save money. LOL
