Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Team Challenge for Losers and Maintainers!!!

Happy Mother's Day! Hope it was a nice one for everyone.

I got a box of truffles (great, just what I needed 6 weeks before my cruise!) LOL But it will be my daily treat at 80 calories per piece!

Did not do any exercise at all this weekend except for mowing the lawn tonight. I know, what's a Mom doing mowing the lawn on Mother's Day? It gave me a chance to listen to a podcast. Going to listen a lot more on Friday night when I am doing the Relay for Life. Hoping it will be as wonderful as last year. It was a beautiful foggy evening with the luminarias glowing around the track!

I need to do my crunches tonight at least! I might get up and walk in the morning. Volunteering in Izzie's classroom and then taking Mom for blood tests and then going to WalMart.

Have a great evening!

TTFN :tigger:

If I remember correctly mom ordered mickey waffles from the quick service place at the Poly. We told them she had a dairy allergy and they pulled different batter and used a separate waffle maker.

Just watch because mom's allergy started out as an intolerance and moved onto full blown allergy. Now, she won't die if she has it but she can't be more than a few feet from a bathroom for 3-5 days afterwards.

Ugh that doesn't sound like fun at all. Hopefully this will remain just intolerance. Your poor mama! I will be sure to ask questions on vacation. With a spa certificate for Monday and the KTTK tour on Wednesday I don't have time to be in the bathroom too long ;)

Thanks for the info! Rose directed me to the Cabot cheese website. good info!!

Hi Lisa! I'm sitting here as I type eating lunch, need to go track it.

Mary•Poppins come join us!! My user name is the same here and on MFP if you don't already have it.

Must must must get a workout in today though. My muscles are screaming for it! LOL

Hey Lisa and MissBianca .... I am just catching up on here. I am SO sorry for not responding. I will look for you both on MFP tomorrow. Beware ... I haven't been real good about logging my food. Just way to busy lately.

Ok, it took me 2 hours to catch up and I didn't even reply to everyone I wanted to. But, I am tired and heading to bed now.

Mary Poppins~The Run for Your Lives event in western PA is in Slippery Rock in June I think. Check the website.

I'll be back tomorrow.

Jill

Hey Jill,

Thanks for the running event. I might not be able to get my sons to run it with me this year .... but I am going to work on them for next year! :rotfl:

I just signed my son and I up for a 5K run in Pittsburgh where you run through different colored "paint stations". There was a Groupon for it. It looked interesting and my 12 year old thought it would be fun. It is in August.

I am finding out that there are really interesting 5ks you can run! :lmao:

Good morning everyone!!

I'm happy to report that...I surpassed my goal!!:banana: I've officially lost 20.4lbs since I started Jan. 16th! I didn't start the challenge to the 24th, but I was still reading wish at the time so it counts. 4 months sounds like a long time and I see why some people might discouraged but when you take it 1 week at a time it is much easier. :goodvibes

Now I only have 10-15 more lbs to lose until I make it to my ultimate goal!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

That is awesome! :thumbsup2

I know I have not posted in a while. I have been busy busy busy.

I managed to maintain since I started Spring Break at the beginning of April and have just gotten down to the 50 pound mark since starting in January.

I hope all are doing well and I look forward to seeing the big results that are coming out as we near the end of the challenge.

I am already looking forward to the next one so I can get back to being actively involved.

All the best.

Christopher

Welcome back Christopher!

Good Saturday morning everyone.

Graduation was wonderful yesterday. The main ceremony was very different at the beginning. Now you need to know I am a graduation snob. I have been to over 50 to 60 grauations in the last 35 years.

First we were invited to breakfast in the engineering building. We got to meet a couple of my ds's teachers and some of his friends. We got to take some picture and then headed over to the graduation. We go to the main ceremony at 9 and we ended up all the way in the back. At 9:30 music started playing. Quite a variety from rock and roll to a Sousa march. Just before 10 they started playing "You'll Never Walk Alone" from Carousel. This is where I almost lost it since it is such a touching song. Then they announced that the graduation was getting ready to start. WE could see the faculty getting ready to enter the area (We were on the college green right outside the administration building.) They started walking in and there was no Pomp and Circumstance. They started walking in to "Never on a Cloudy Day" and that segwayed to Footloose. I think that there was eventually about 15 bars of Pomp and Circumstance. We stood up at one time and realized that the graduates were coming in from the sides in the front. By the time the faculty had entered almost all the students were in. We were surprised at how efficient it was.

They had the choir and band perform a medley from Jersey Boys so there was a medley from the Beach Boys. Even the people on the main platform were up and dancing. My ds says that the engineering people weren't dancing but we couldn't see them.

The main ceremony was over in an hour. Then we had to walk across campus to get to the engineering ceremony. It was supposed to start at 11:30 but it started right at 12 which gave us time to get seat, they had some water around if we wanted it and run the the bathroom if we needed to. This was a very intimate ceremony in from of the engineering building. The ceremony was only about 30 minutes. We got to see him walk down the aisle and get his diploma case. Each area was called up one at a time and the professors from that area formed a receiving line as they walked across the stage. After each group got together to get a picture of their department. We also got to meet the professor that he will be working for for the next year and a half. Then we went out to lunch and we got to see his new apartment. (ds1 hadn't seen it.)

We got home last night and I didn't even eat dinner. I fell asleep about 9. It was a great day.

Will be back later.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Sounds like a wonderful day Dona! Congrats on your son graduating!

Happy Mother's Day to everyone on here. Hoping you had a great day!

Good Monday morning.

It is a strange time of year. I start watching Apollo 13 in my classes today. I will not teach until the last period of the day. I am hoping to get started cleaning my classroom.

I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day. Dh and I went to church. He mentioned that it was the first one with both sons home. That got me a little teary eyed but my ds who is away had already texted me to wish me a Happy MOther's Day. My dh had mention to my other son that maybe we would go out for breakfast. We got home from church and he didn't wake up. We waited until 9 and then went without him. He was still not up when we got home.

Dh and I spent the day working in the yard. We put in some tomato plants and a new bush around the patio. I had also gotten some hangin baskets and some stands for them so the patio looks great.

The rest of the day was laid back. We did left overs for dinner and that was okay with me.

Nancy My nephew is highly alergic to dairy. When he is coming to a party we make many adaptions to our recipes. It takes a while to figure out what has dairy and what does but we are always passing along different things that we can use.

Ex Fleishman's No Salt magarine has no dairy in so we use that to do any baking. Shop Rite chocolate chips have no dairy.

The biggest surprise is tuna. Regular tuna is fine. White albacore has milk in it to make it whiter.

Pot pies of the same brand. One will have dairy and some will not. :confused3

Have a happy and healthy day.

Good Monday morning friends! I am working today and the good news is that I have full access to a computer AND two long planning periods today, so I will have time to come on here and play catch up on everything I've missed in the last many, many days!

I hope everyone had a delightful Mother's Day. Mine was fine.... I'd like to grumble about going to visit DMIL, but it was my choice. DH did not insist, but I felt like it was the right thing to do. That said, DH was particularly cranky yesterday for some reason and it made for a long ride, especially home.

My kids made me a nice totally OP breakfast that they served to me in bed. DS braved the pricker bushes and morning dew to cut me some fresh lilacs from our bushes to adorn my breakfast tray. DD gave me a lovely handmade card and two Disneyland pressed penny bracelets that she bought from Etsy and DS gave me a Mickey totebag that he had ordered from the Disney store. I loved them both, of course.

We all looked spiffy for church and were able to take a few family photos when we arrived at DMIL's house.

I was fairly well OP for the entire day until late evening, when my frustration with DH's cranky attitude totally threw me under the bus and I ate two big handfuls of mixed nuts, plus a small scoop of full fat chocolate ice cream and a handful of chocolate chips. :furious: Mad at myself, but will try to learn from it, put it aside, and move on.

Watched the Survivor finale, but we/it lacked the usual enthusiasm. We usually have a full-on family celebration when we watch this, but it wasn't a particularly endearing season and we weren't rooting for any one particular person. That combined with the lateness (we got home late from DMIL's and didn't start watching until 9:30) and DS not feeling well and we just watched it without much fanfare. Pleased with the winner though. Haven't watched the recap show yet.

Well.... I have students arriving in 4 minutes, so I will say bye for now. I'll start working my way backwards and play catch-up with the QOTD and everything. TTYL...................P

:)hi everyone, cant believe this is the last monday of this challenge!
Hoping to make it a really strong finish so fingers crossed for you all to have an amazing last week :thumbsup2

Hello and a happy mothers day to all my friends here who are moms, and all of those who love, support moms they know. It takes a village to raise a child, and I know I am the best mom I can be because of all the help and support I find from my friends and family. Hugs to those missing their moms, and babies who have been lost. :grouphug:

I love how you said this, Karen. It is so very true.

It's been busy times, and I am sorry haven't been a very good friend here. I haven't even been reading, so I'm sure i've missed a lot. I know this is the last week of the challenge, so I hope to pop in a bit more, and see how you all are doing. I want to thank each and every one of you for all the support and inspiration I have received throughout the challenge, and though my loss is a small one overall, I know without this challenge, I would be in worse shape.

Good luck to you all this week!! After a not so on track weekend, I'm going to end the challenge strong, and hope you all are doing the same! :woohoo:

Happy Mothers Day to you all. Wow, all the smilies are changed all around. It has been a while.

I haven't been on much lately either, but I have been missing seeing you! Hope all is well with you and hope your MD was terrific!

I'm with you on finishing strong this week!! I need a good week!

Sorry everyone I've been MIA the last few weeks.

I went to Disney with bestie last week and it had its ups and downs (mostly downs) this trip. I had a lot of health problems give me issues and I spent most of the trip taking it easy and spending time doing what my body could handle. I did a LOT of walking around Coronado Springs Resort. I have to say for having never stayed at a moderate before it was INCREDIBLE! The only thing I didn't like is we were back in the Ranchero section (VERY back of property) and I had no cell signal at all. I literally had to walk all the way to the sidewalks that lead to the bus stops to get any sort of signal.

Disney has totally gone wireless and do not have ethernet chords (at least not in our room) anymore. Luckily, we don't live far away and I have an ethernet chord at my house. Alan brought me one and I was able to use internet on my laptop. Yes, they are wireless but the operating system I have on my laptop (Vista) is not compatible with Disney's wireless, go figure.

We were on the basic dining plan and I have to say I didn't do that bad with meal selections. I brought stuff from home to eat for breakfast (yogurts and granola bars). I had also brought along my reusable water mug so I could refill it all the time. I was really impressed by the counter service at The Rix Lounge at the resort. There was only one meal I ate that I wasn't impressed with (chicken caesar wrap). The only other meal I wasn't impressed with at all was the shrimp scampi at Tony's at Magic Kingdom. I normally really like that restaurant but that meal wasn't good. The awesome news is I LOST WEIGHT while there!! I was 208 the morning we left for the resort. When I returned and weighed myself Wednesday morning (came home late Tuesday afternoon) I was 207.6! No its not a lot of weight but I was still shocked.

I had my pedometer with me on that trip and I averaged about 16 miles over the course of that 1 week. The longest day was 3.36 miles and that was split between a few hours at Animal Kingdom and all the walking I did at the resort that day.

Bestie is coming back in December to see me. I told her "Don't expect to spend a week at Disney because I'll have just been there for my birthday." I honestly believe the December trip will be the last time I see her in quite some time for a few reasons:

1. I'm hoping to be working beginning part of next year
2. There was just something about this trip that I just felt was "off". Either I'm just getting tired of Disney trips with friends or we're growing apart. I couldn't really put my finger on it but I just felt she was not thrilled with all my health conditions. She kept telling me she understood but I'm sorry body language speaks VOLUMES.

I was really annoyed that every time I suggested something I wanted to do she blew me off. Example: I LOVE Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom. I haven't been riding Space Mountain for quite some time because with my bad leg its just a really hard ride to get on and off of so I avoid it. She got all "Well, if your not going to ride Space Mountain there's not anything to do over in Tomorrowland. I want to go to Fantasy Land."

I understand she only gets vacation once a year but come on! This is MY vacation too!! By that point I was pissed off and between my legs and feet killing me (almost in tears during Wishes) I went back to the resort.

I have no problem going to Disney with others but when you totally just balk at what I want to do that's when I get mad.

I'll be back later to do a little catching up. I'm going to swim some laps.

Sorry your trip was just "okay". And sorry about the pain in your legs and feet. I know that you have some medical issues, but maybe some new shoes are in order too??

I made a decision a while ago to NOT visit Disney with others who aren't in the same mind-set as myself. In fact, on our last family trip in 2008, I was totally aggravated by DH who kept going back to the hotel room to "rest" (translate to "work", "nap", and "read"). I know that I am a super high energy, type-A, commando type at the parks, but I felt like he wasn't even trying to keep up and that his park ticket was a waste. I was SO aggravated.... although I guess it shouldn't have bothered me so much. The kids and I had plenty of fun without him.... but it wasn't the same.... it was supposed to be a FAMILY trip.

Anyhow, I won't visit Disney with my parents or my brother and his family because I know they wouldn't tour the same way I want to and it would really frustrate me. DS and DD know how I am at Disney (go, go, go) and they are willing to do the same... so they are the perfect companions!

Maybe in the future we can take another family trip that isn't so commando.... and DH's energy level should be better, as he is healthier and slimmer now. We'll see.

Anyhow, since you are living so close to Disney, I'm sure that most of your friends are expecting to visit Disney with you. You either need to decide to try to compromise and let them know your expectations and limitations up front, or let them go without you I suppose.

A quick hello to wish everyone a very Happy Mother's Day whether you're a mom to kids, angels, or fur babies :) :flower:

I had to post a .5 gain this week. Darn! Still, I'm so proud to say I started Jan 1 at 162.5 lbs and today weighed in at 141.5! And I ran a 10k race in Central Park yesterday finishing in about 1:04. What a fabulous way to kick off my week before Disney. I'm going to be as good as possible this week in anticipation of enjoying myself on vacation.

I recently found out I'm "severely" lactose intolerant (a little bit intolerant and severely intolerant - both just stink so who cares that doc says severe!) so I'm cutting out dairy as best I can. I will miss the ice cream at Disney but it's sooooo not a big deal especially if I feel better.

Yipes this turned into a "me" post.

I hope everyone has a fabulous Sunday and kicks off tomorrow back OP :)

Sorry you are finding out about the intolerance. I am listening to an audiobook right now about local eating, healthier eating, organic foods, etc and the chapter I just finished listening to talked about lactose intolerance and the percentages of people who have this "condition". We, as HUMANS aren't actually supposed to be able to tolerate lactose (especially COW lactose). It is actually a gene mutation that allows us TO tolerate it at all any time past childhood. You are just losing that tolerance later than many people.

Have you tried almond milk? I really enjoy the unsweetened vanilla Silk almond milk that is 40 calories per cup. It is great with cereal. I truly prefer it over cow's milk now.... and the fact that it is half the calories of lowfat milk is a bonus!

Happy Mother's Day! You all do so much for your babies (no matter how old they are!)

For those who are not mommies and those who would give anything to be a mommy (like me)....this is just a reminder that although we are not called "mom" , we have "mothered" many throughout our lives...whether it be a friend, sibling, niece/nephew, cousins, students and in my case a roommate...we have felt the love. Cherish that feeling today...

Well, it's that time of year when the deck is open for business!!! Even though I woudl give anything to have a real backyard, I try my best to give my deck the feel of an oasis (pool not included!) So, yesterday I bought 2 hanging plants, plants for my window boxes, basil, oregano, and a bag of potting soil. I'm currently sitting on my deck with a cup of French Vanilla coffee, listening to the birds, and typing to you all! Soooo relaxing :goodvibes I am thinking of adding a water feature....I have a table and 2 chairs (Bri and I will eat dinner out here all summer), an electric grill, and currently my old table is still residing in the corner (I will remove it once everything is planted and I buy the fountain!! I think the trickle of water will really set the mood. I have solar lights strung across the railing as well. I am extremely lucky that my balcony faces the wooded area and that I get full sun in the afternoon :woohoo: Now, to find a decent fountain...

I better get moving here! Brunch with mom and dad and I am dying to give my gift...we (sis, BIL, Brady and I) got my mom a Vera Bradley towel and lotion carrier to match (I filled it with SPF 50 lotions and sprays!) My mom has fair Irish skin so I need to cover her up with SPF 50!!

Have a lovely day everyone!

Your deck sounds lovely. We built a big beautiful deck 8 years ago and it sees very little use. I never bought a nice table and chairs for it (although I've looked for just the right set for a long time). I need to bite the bullet and find a set so we can enjoy our deck!

I love the idea of a fountain on the deck. And I think that the water sounds would attract birds too!

cabot cheese is lactose free??? omg. that little fact just made my day! thank you!

i've had tofutti before a long time ago. it's not bad!

karen you are so right about mother's day being for all who have "mothered" in one way or another!!! :cloud9:

MFP is a great way to keep track. it lets you keep track of exercise too!

Actually, the harder a cheese is, the less lactose it has. The lactose is drained off with the whey during the cheesemaking process. So cream cheese and cottage cheese would be bad choices..... hard cheddar would be a better choice.... another nugget I learned from my audiobook. "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" is the name of it if you are interested. Mostly about local eating, sustainable farming and such.

You lost over 20 #'s. That's awesome! Good you're learning that me is what it's all about...:thumbsup2

Just checking in quick-- seems everyone is doing pretty good. I only gained 1 pound this week-- I'm actually feeling pretty good about that-- considering the stress, lack of sleep and no exercise.
Well the lil calico poo'd last night... stayed up for the last feeding about 12 am (before my son took over) to see if the other would but no go despite my best efforts. I changed the formula though to canned and that's supposed to be better. It's so much danged easier too...I'm going up to Portland tonight with my Mom to get my stepdad and daughter so that'll be mothers day. As long as both the kittens are alive-- I'm good.

Hope that DD is doing all right and glad to hear the kittens are still alive.

quotd sunday-- top of my head and fast before the kittens awake? Who has some vacation plans for the summer?

We really don't as we are going to Disneyland in Nov., but I know how motivating a vacation is with pictures and bathing suits and all. ;-)

Good morning everyone!!

I'm happy to report that...I surpassed my goal!!:banana: I've officially lost 20.4lbs since I started Jan. 16th! Now I only have 10-15 more lbs to lose until I make it to my ultimate goal!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

HUGE congratulations on beating your goal for the challenge! That is great!

Good Morning Friends!

The sun is shining and the grass is growing...time to plant my flowers!! I think i will assume that the frost will not be coming back for a while :hippie:

My deck gets crazy sun for most of the day so I was thinking petunias in the window boxes and maybe some hanging plants as well. I'm having a devil of a time finding a plant stand I like. My deck is small so I thought a tiered corner shelf would look nice....just can't find one that's not expensive (tried Target, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, Christmas Tree Shop, and Sears.) I'm heading to Agway tomorrow and may just hit TJMaxx/Marshalls and Home Goods. Thought I would have had better luck by now :(

I forgot my yogurt this morning so I am heading out to Dunkin Donuts for an egg white flat bread and iced coffee (with just skim milk) It runs me 8 points for the sandwich and milk but such a nice treat this morning! I'm hoping to get out of here early today since I only have one student appointment and really need to do things at home. Brian has a long night at the 5th grade play with rehearsal going until 7:30...he has such patience with the kids as well as patience with his disorganized co-director - have you ever heard of a music teacher for an elementary school who didn't know how to play the piano??? Soo strange. Well, this is his last year at the school and will be looking for a new job this summer....being a behavioral aid does not pay very well :(

I'm going to do some updating to my Pinterest boards so feel free to follow me! Search "Karen Ferretti" or "Vista110". Love to have you on board!

Have a wonderful day!!

Good luck finding that corner rack. HomeGoods is probably a good spot to look. I think I also saw something at Lowe's last time I was there.

I know I have not posted in a while. I have been busy busy busy.

I managed to maintain since I started Spring Break at the beginning of April and have just gotten down to the 50 pound mark since starting in January.

All the best.

Christopher

Glad to hear your good news about the 50 pounds and that you have been able to maintain since your break! I'm not sure if you posted about your cruises and I missed it, or if you haven't had time to post, but I hope they were great and I'd love to hear about them!

Hey-- late quotd plus tomorrow's....

quotd: Friday:

What motivates you more--- a goal or your health.

Mine was originally for my health as I really wrecked my back about 2 years ago.

quotd Sat:
Waht's your favorite veggie and fruit?

I know our farms are just starting up around here and I loove really fresh produce.

My favorite veggie is mushrooms. And did you know they are super high in vitamin D? Fruit is probably fresh pineapple. Enzymes in pineapple and papaya help heal skin. I found that out lately when a cat knocked down an old 50's radio off of our headboard onto my face. Mederma also works really great it helped my very old stretch marks and the scar stuff is really working good on my fresh cuts and even on my really old ones-- weird.

Well my stepdad's in Albuquerque and everyone is safe--all I can tell you guys is something really bad happened to my daughter. My stepdad is the kind of person that takes charge and gets things done so I am so grateful to him. He was also a firefighter and knows how to deal with police and bad guys too...

The kittens still haven't poo'd and I'm so worried I'll lose another. If they don't go by tomorow i will take them to the vet. I'll call them in the morning. Everything I read says that you are lucky if a few survive being orphaned that young so I am doing everything in my power to save them.

Here's a link to some kitten vid on my husbands facebook:
http://www.facebook.com/video/?id=607963965

Glad to year that DD had grampa on the way to help out. Praying that she is okay.

Thanks for the reminder about the Mederma. I need to bug DS about using it. He has some scarring from his YEARS of eczema and while he is growing and it is fading, it is still significant in some areas. I bought him a tube of the Mederma (pricey stuff!), but I forget to remind him to use it. It needs to go in the morning and evening statements to remember to brush his teeth, wash his face (with acne wash) and take his pills!! :rotfl:

Good Saturday morning everyone.

The graduation sounds wonderful! I'm sure that you are super proud.

Woohoo!! Down 1 pound which puts me at 10 pounds lost since I starting WISHing!
Will add my clippie later, on my phone and it's causing me fits.

WOOHOO! You lost it and I probably found it!:rotfl:

quotd sunday-- Who has some vacation plans for the summer?

We always have a week at a lake with my side of the family (21 of us all together) and an extended July 4th holiday on Cape Cod (anywhere from 2-5 days) with DH's family (numbers vary depending on who's in town.... anywhere from 15 to 30 of us!) Those are usually our "big" summer vacations. I also take both kids away for Mother/Child weekend each year, but I try to do those in the spring.... but this year they will probably happen during the summer. Nothing really planned yet.

quotd: Friday:

What motivates you more--- a goal or your health.

I have to be honest and say a GOAL (as in "GOAL WEIGHT"). But in addition to eating less calories and getting more exercise, I have been working on eating HEALTHIER over these past few years..... we've gone at least 75% organics (meat, eggs, dairy, some veggies and grains), taking more supplements (Vitamin D, B complex, fish oil), eating more fish and far less processed foods and eliminating most fast foods.

quotd Sat:
What's your favorite veggie and fruit?

Might be easier to say what I DON'T like!

If I had to name one?? Fruit would probably be.... apple... inexpensive, basic, easy to find organic, and versatile. Works well fresh, cooked, baked, with chicken or turkey or cheese or ham or with salad greens. Applesauce makes a nice side dish to many meals, baked apples make a great dessert, plenty of fiber, thirst-quenching, easy to bring along. Sure, it isn't fancy or exotic (love me a mango!), but it has a lot going for it.

Veggie.... gonna say baby spinach (for today at least! ;) ) Easy to eat hot or cold.... can be steamed or sauteed... put in a salad or sandwich. Great in with eggs, cheese, chicken, fish, etc or even with fruit in a salad. Spinach salad with strawberries or blueberries. Or a spinach salad with hot bacon dressing and chopped egg.

I still have 45 minutes to do some more catching up! ..................P

Pamela, sounds like busy times at your house. :goodvibes How was the prom? I'm sure your DD looked lovely. princess:

She did look great (if I may say so myself). If she is okay with it, I will try to remember to post a picture this week. The dress looked perfect, shoes, bag, hair.... all of it! And she had fun, so all was good.

I was up till 4 am last night. I'm a bit drowsy today and so far it's not the best birthday ever. I basically found out last night that all my sources for my big research paper that i've been working on all semester did not count towards the 20 required sources. I'm not going into why but let's just say I was having a freaking panic attack and I did a semesters worth of research in one night. I think its done now, finally but it was just not great.

so yes, today is my bday, I have class and then I guess i'm going out to dinner with my parents. my boyfriend won't come. I'm a little annoyed.

Le sigh, it doesn't really feel like a birthday

Sorry that your birthday was less than stellar. But happy belated birthday, nonetheless.

P, I am exhausted just reading your schedule!! Hopefully things will calm down soon :) But, I am jealous of the scrapbooking organization time!!

DD's swim book is coming together nicely, but all I keep doing for DMIL's book is shuffling through photos! I think this book is going to be the death of me! I keep organizing because I don't want to actually work on the book! :rolleyes2

HA!! Lisa, it's an entirely new world when you buy a suit that is not black :rotfl2: I actually bought a turquoise suit last summer from Land's End and I really like it....ok, I also bought the same suit in black :lmao: I'm thinking purple will do the trick this year!!!

Had to chuckle about this. I own two Land's End swim suits too.... turquoise and black! Actually, I think I ditched the turquoise one last summer.... it was the first suit I bought after I had re-started this journey and it was just too big. The black one is a bit large also, but still wearable and for what it cost me, I'm going to keep wearing it until it falls apart! But I'd LOVE a purple one!

It's already Wednesday!!! This week is flying and I really feel like I have not accomplished that much! With the boss back I think I have more to do...lol! The kids are now really comfortable with me so they continue to come here to talk and ask questions. Such a switch since last May I was bored out of my mind!

Rain...AGAIN!! Yes, we were in a drought situation a few weeks ago but come on Mother Nature!! You know how you feel when it's mucky out and raining...no desire to get up and go :( My legs finally feel better today and not as sore (I must have moved way too much furniture this weekend cause my legs were screaming for 2 days!) So I have hopes to hit spin class tonight after I deliver the Wizard of Oz scenery to Brian's school. I never made it to teh food store last night so I really need to get there....out of frozen veggies :scared1:

Hang in there friends!!! We are in the home stretch!! I'm already prepared for the summer challenge and my continued weight loss!!!

I know how you are/were feeling about the rain. We finally had a decent weekend and now they are predicting rain for us nearly every day this week! :faint: I know we need it, but come on!!

I don't have anything big planned for the summer, maybe a weekend or two at the beach. But I do have some goals-

By the third week in June, I want to be at a 16:30mile. Totally doable, I think. I also want to be in the mid to low 170's.

By the end of July I want to be at a 15:45 mile and weigh no more than 171.

By the end of August I want to be at a 14:30 mile and weigh 167.

If I lay it out like this, I feel like I have a better chance at reaching my goals :)

Can't wait for the summer challenge!

You have a PLAN and I predict great success for you this summer!

Happy Birthday Trina

Sorry you are so stressed out about your paper. It is amazing what can be done when our back is against a wall.

Lisa I noticed on my ticker on another page that I am now in double digits.:banana::banana: until my trip

WOOHOO on the double digit dance!!

I hope! I can't leave swim but I might just put her in daycare at the place my mom works at so I can get some laps in at the green. One lap is 1.6 miles so I could realistically get a 5K in every day. Or I can the track at the HS while DS15 and DS11 are at XC and camp.

Hopefully it will work out that you can exercise while the boys are practicing. I need to get better about arranging my schedule this way too.

I would hit the wine today but I'm already pushing over my calories for today. DS15 is making Coq au vin for dinner ....

SERIOUSLY?? I'm super jealous! My (sort-of annual) Mother's Day breakfast in bed is IT as far as anyone else in the house making a meal!
Awesome goals!!!!!

Seems as though I am fairly well caught up here! Off to see how things are on the scrapbooking threads!................P

I just checked that! This one ends May 18.

I totally relapsed after my trip. I caught a head cold halfway:sick: through, but Universal was still awesome! Got really sick once we got back, and DS ended up with a sinus infection and missed four days of school and lost all the ground he had made up in track.

After I finally seemed to get over the cold, it never really seemed to end with the allergies:(. I finally have started feeling my old self this last week, Unfortunately, I was feeling miserable and big into "pityparty" and turned to comfort food - mainly comfort sweets. So I have gained in a big way, and won't be finishing out this challenge the way I wanted.

But I will be there for the next one! I have a trip home & to Busch Gardens this summer and then to WDW in November. So I need to get back in shape!

Thanks all of you for your support:goodvibes. This is a great thread with a great community of people! My mistake was feeling so sick, I never really checked out what was going on and got on the boards. And I did not send in my weigh-ins, so I have been "dropped" :guilty:.

See you all next time! :wave2:

DONAC -- I hope the last few days of the school year go smoothly for you.

PJLLA -- I love breakfast in bed. I'm sorry your hubby was being a pain. I hate when guys have "MALE PMS" as I like to call it :lmao:

As far as the best friend issue she knows I'm not into the whole "GO GO GO" at Disney. My body can't handle it. As the years have gone by yes my health has improved to the point to where I can walk the parks. But even though that's the case I have to pace myself and she knows that. She's been with me to Disney about 6 times. I just don't like the attitude I got when I would suggest doing things (more relaxing, not go go go at the parks). I understand she likes to GO GO GO at Disney and that's fine but if she wants to do that she's going to have to realize she's going to be doing it alone and not get all moody with me. I'm not going to push myself and make my health conditions worse all because she wants me to keep up.

I've finally just told Alan I can't do it anymore and this will be the last trip to Disney with her. I love my best friend and love seeing her and spending time with her but I think we've run our course on Disney trips together.

quotd sunday-- Who has some vacation plans for the summer?

Nothing really planned other then we're going to Vegas toward the end of July for our anniversary. Then in September I'm going back to TX for my 10 year high school reunion.

What motivates you more--- a goal or your health.

A goal, more specifically, my goal weight. Yes, I know I've got a long ways to go and my weight has stalled a few times and/or fluctuated by a few pounds. However, the important thing is I've finally learned to not let it discourage me and to keep pushing forward.

quotd Sat:
What's your favorite veggie and fruit?

Fruit: strawberries and bananas in a smoothie. To just eat by itself bananas

Veggies: green beans, brocolli (I can't eat a lot of it because of my blood thinners), potatoes,

My new found favorite veggie: Yams

I saw that this challenge ends on May 18.

When does the new challenge start? I wanted to be able to note it on my calendar

Here we celebrate our progress and recognize our superstars.

Reminders:
-after 3 weeks of no reporting, you are dropped from the challenge – can re-start at any time, though
-if anybody knows they will miss weighing in, just PM and let me know and you’ll be marked excused

Biggest Loser Fall Challenge Week 19!
This week’s group loss = 9.3 pounds!
Average percentage of weight lost 0.13 %
Total group weight loss so far 1041.5 pounds!

AWESOME!

Retention Rate (compared to the 144 participants we had sign up for our start week on January 1st)
25% (this includes the Losers, Maintainers and Excused people!). Let's keep sending those weights people!

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet. (btw if its been more than 1 week between weigh-ins, then the % loss is divided by the number of weeks, to keep everybody on the same basis)

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week 19?

NOW FOR THOSE OF US WHO SET A GOAL FOR THE CHALLENGE!!!

NOTE: This list includes participants who have reported in within the last 3 weeks, once someone misses 3 weigh-ins they are dropped from this report.

How this works: You set your goal for what you want to lose in the challenge. Then I calculate your weight loss in the challenge divided by your goal to get a % to goal.

Anybody can change their goal at anytime (or add a goal) – all you have to do is send me a PM.

Since the goals are an individual thing, the list is just in alphabetical order to make it easier for everybody to find their own name. If there are any questions or suggestions please let me know.

We have done 19 out of 20 weeks, so the challenge is 95% complete.

I find everybody on the list an inspiration and everybody who participates in this challenge is an inspiration in and of themselves. Whether you post, lurk or just pm your weight and check results on Tuesdays, you have made a commitment to yourself. And that is the biggest inspiration of all!BY Octoberbride03

See you all next time! :wave2:

I had the same thing--sick for a month that morphed into allergies...I wish I had weighed myself and been on the boards more too. You have great motivation!

Well we lost another kitten last night. I worked all day, then came home and had to make another drive up to Portland (2 1/2 hours) by the time we got back it was midnight. Son woke me at 2 am saying the lil calico wasn't doing well-- we did everything we could including emergency vet and had the last boy checked over well today and put on antibiotics as a caution since his sister had been a little stuffy. She aspirated-- we've been feeding them too much I think but she was definitely doing the fading kitten syndrome. Fortunately the lil guy we have left is big and healthy we've had them for a week and the vet estimated he was a week old. We named him Triumph after the wonder dog since he is a wonder kitty and a red head. Daughter is--not ok-- but will heal and everyone who cares about her is here. Stepdad is a saint.
Check in later-- exhausted...had to work today too.

Good evening.

Thanks for all the congrats!

Congrats to all the biggest losers!

quotd sunday-- Who has some vacation plans for the summer?
WDW next week! Other than that, not much.

What motivates you more--- a goal or your health.
Unfortunately, goals since they are easy to see. Goal weight, abs, races. They are easier to attain which eventually leads to good health anyway, so I guess they are one in the same.

What's your favorite veggie and fruit?
Favorite fruit: Strawberries & blueberries. I do love oranges too.
Veggies: Carrots are my favorite, but I absolutely love peppers, broccoli, and peas too.

----
Hope you have been having a good week. I went a little overboard Saturday night after I posted about the wedding. Nothing I can't recover from, but I have been pretty lax about calories and workouts. Still doing decent, but cutting myself some slack this week.

I hope all you mom's had a wonderful mother's day! :goodvibes

Hi all!

Had quite a weekend with *tons* of eating out and some moderate indulging. Okay, more than moderate on Sunday, when I celebrated Mother's Day with dessert at brunch *and* Ben & Jerry's later in the afternoon! I did a 45-minute bike session last night and another one tonight, and I watched points like crazy today. I think I'm back on track - just had to get there via cold turkey (literally, for lunch, on a sandwich thin!). :rotfl2:

Had a wonderful Mother's Day with the family. I sang at all three services at church (we have a Saturday afternoon service, too), and I'm set to do the same next weekend. But it was great to finish up on Sunday and go for a drive to brunch on a gorgeous day.

I saw the orthopedist today, and the shoe cast is done! Sort of! I can wear regular closed-toe shoes now, and sandals are fine as long as I'm careful and keep my toes taped. I'm wearing the shoe cast around the house to avoid any accidental stumbles. He told me I can start jogging again at the beginning of June but that walks and tenth-mile test intervals would be okay. I don't know, though, I'm feeling a lot of twinges in regular shoes, and I think I'm going to play this one really carefully. The last thing I want is to rebreak this right before our vacation next month!

Favorite fruits and veggies...I love pretty much all fruit. I'm in heaven now with all the berries in season! We go through several pounds of strawberries and blueberries each week this time of year. I also love plums and nectarines, and my favorite apple variety is Pink Lady. Veggies are good, too, but I'll always take fruit first. I like sugar snap peas, asparagus, carrots...and I've come to like broccoli after having hated it my whole life.

I started packing today. I'm insane. But I love it. I can't wait to get on the Dream and then to AKL! The kids still don't know about the cruise, and we're doing a great job so far of keeping it under wraps...

I'm not weighing in at WW tomorrow because I'm lifetime again now and don't need to - and this meeting will be right after I have lunch with a friend. So I'll do a home weigh-in this week and add the typical amount that I see by the time I get to the WW scale. Go figure - my first-thing-in-the-morning stark naked weight is less than what it is at 1pm with clothes on! ;)

Hope everyone's week is off to a great start! Can't believe we're almost at the end of this challenge!

XO
Liz

I would say i had a major "ugh" moment today. I was weighing my suitcase and i stepped on the scale and it was 10lbs heavier than friday! NO WAY! When i mentioned this to my mom in passing she said "I thought you looked like you gained a little"

Ugh, I haven't heard THAT in a LONG TIME. Wake up call I guess, cause i know I've been slacking. Now I know I didn't actually gain ten pounds in 3 days, and when i stepped on the scale again it was lower, then higher, then lower again. That's not the point. I know I am heavier than I want to be and I can tell. And I don't want to make excuses, but I do want to be able to not worry on the cruise/in disney. So my plan is to eat right until then, have a little fun on the cruise, and then start this weight loss journey again with a vengence. I WILL reach my goal, and I WILL stop slacking off. I am making this promise to myself. I'm only taking one class this summer, so now is the time to get in shape, and feel great about myself.

Had a bit of a rough day at work. We have a new manager and she just rubs me the wrong way. we literally get a new manager every few months, which is just awful for our store and i hate it, but this lady is new to the company and does things very by the book. Basically I got in trouble for having water at the registers. I think i knew this was a rule somewhere but no one has ever enforced it because it is a stupid rule, and frankly i think a little inhumane. At our store, NO ONE is allowed to have water anywhere in the store except for grooming. So that means, lets say you work 2 hours on the register, talking to people rining customers out etc, you cannot have ANY water for those two hours. We had words about it and I told her I would get a doctor's note and take it up with the district manager. I take A LOT of medications and get dehydrated very quickly, this is absolutly not acceptable. Cashiers are unallowed to leave the cash register for hours at a time, how is it fair to deny a person access to water for two hours or more?

I don't know am I being ridiculous about this. I put up with their stupid rules about always having my shirt tucked in and making sure no one ever sees my cell phone in my pocket, but this is ridiculous. It's a water, its not soda its not cofee..its water.

I am almost packed for the trip. We leave friday. I have a job interview tomorrow, everyone please think happy thoughts, I could really use this job.

Trina-- stupid rules are made to be broken. Just comply for awhile and she'll let up and relax. I'd check your scales batteries.

Well, the baby is doing very well-- he poodied all over the vet earlier and is being very affectionate. Cute. He is starting to act like an actual cat, purring and wanting to play a little with the vet lol. I can tell he is missing his sister but we went to petsmart and got him a soft stuffed animal to cuddle with and he's spent most of the night being held by us. Starting to feel somewhat sane....it was a huge relief when he checked out fine with the vet. We must have looked like car crash victims between the kittens and my daughter all 3 of us there at the vet. I know my daughter is more important but there's not much I can do except offer my support and no one seems to understand how difficult it is to keep day old kittens alive. It is brutal.

Well here's the deal...I probably will not be on here until the next challenge for summer starts :(

We are leaving for FL on Friday :cool1: but I have so much to do that I do not have time for the computer. I will try to remember to send my final weigh in on Thursday. I am not even doing HH habits this week, but I do want to thanks CC for the gift I received. It was so awesome!

I loved this challenge and loved keeping up with all of you. Thanks for all the support and I am going to try not to gain back everything I lost while strolling the World Showcase!! Hopefully, I will see you all in the summer challenge. Good luck with those final weigh ins!

ENORMOUS congratulations to everyone on the list. Impressive that you are still doing so well this late in the challenge!

***************
Happy Tuesday friends!

DS is home sick again today. He definitely has a fever.... about 100.5-ish. He hasn't been sick in a long time! Headachy and was a bit achy Sunday and yesterday..... we thought it was from the baseball game Saturday, but maybe not. But he will recover. I'm just concerned about what he is missing at school.

So far today I've been pretty productive. Like to get a bit more housework done before I sit at the scrapping table today. I have already stripped my bed and the sheets are in the dryer. Hopefully the bed will be remade before lunch. Also have two loads out on the line already. Fingers crossed they don't get rained on. Another load is running in the washer and the dishwasher is going. I folded and put away three loads of laundry and I scrubbed out both sides of the kitchen sink and washed and de-stemmed a batch of strawberries. Living room is picked up. I'd like to get the kids beds made and the house vacuumed before I sit to scrap. And as much as I don't feel like it, I should hit the TM.

I'll be back to chat later..................P
