Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Team Challenge for Losers and Maintainers!!!

Good Tuesday morning everyone.

The modem wasn't working right so I had to reset it and I finally made it back on but I only have a few minutes.

Thanks for the comment on the dresses I ordered.

http://www.landsend.com/pp/womens-sl...s&origin=index

I ordered 2 of them in blue and deep pink. They were having a sale of 30% off and free shipping. I also ordered a white cardigan also. I have graduation, my nephew's wedding and then my own school's graduation so I could us the dresses. It was my dh's suggestion to get them both since I couldn't decide on the color. Got to love the man.

QOTD I am reading a Mary Higgins Clark book right now. I always have something to read. My nook is filled with books to read. I am always looking for free or inexpensive books on barnes and noble.

Off to get ready. I am leaving school early, picking up dh and heading down to an reception for the Honor's Program that ds is in. The beginning of the end.

Congrats to all the losers this week especially Melissa

Congrats CC on the new job.

Have a happy and healthy day.

Congrats to all the losers! Wow- I can't believe I'm biggest loser this week. Thanks everyone!

Right now I am reading Run Like A Girl - How Strong Women Make Happy Lives. Its very inspiring!

Today Im going to do a warm up jog, and then do some quarter mile repeats, trying to make each one faster than the last. Then headed home and getting DS20 to work, and then I'm volunteering at the high school Career Center. That is BORING, but I signed up for it. :/ My afternoon is free (yay!), then my DD12 has a play at 6:00 pm. I will have to miss Run Club tonight, but that's why I'm doing the workout in a few minutes.

Have a great day everyone! Stay OP! Go walk for 10 or 15 minutes if you can't fit in anything else!

ooo! i want to read that!

congrats melinda on biggest loser. nice job! oh and you asked about central park. there are a bazillion people running around the park at any given time. i have never felt unsafe there. i'd rather run in central park in the dark than alone in the woods someplace! :eek:

Tuesday QOTD: What book are you reading, just read or want to read?

I haven't read much of anything lately besides blogs but after watching The Hunger Games on the weekend I would really like to read the books. My oldest got the books from his father and step-mother, I might just have to borrow them when he is finished. :)

I am struggling with staying away from the candy/chocolate at work. It is so tempting and sometimes I say "Just 1 or 2 won't hurt" which might be right except I might tell myself that 2-3 times a day. Sigh.

I got out for my 4.8km run last night. Was a bit worried that it was going to rain on me, there was some really big dark clouds out, but the clouds were gone by the time I finished my run with no rain. :cool1: My legs felt a bit tight at the start but by the end were nice and loose and I felt pretty good.

I am not feeling great at the moment, I am coming down with a cold just in time for my 5km race this weekend. When I am sick I tend to comfort myself with food and this morning was no exception. I ended up getting a hot chocolate and bagel for breakfast at Tim Horton's this morning which is over half my daily points for WeightWatchers. :scared1: It is going to be a long day.

Tuesday QOTD: What book are you reading, just read or want to read?

Currently reading Moby Dick. I try to read or reread at least one classic every summer, but this year I started early. I visited the New Bedford Whaling museum when I was down there a few weeks ago for DD's job shadow day. The museum had an exhibit about the book that was very interesting. And I've always thought about reading it. Still got about 700 pages to read so I will be at it a while.

Most recently reread Flowers for Algernon because DS was reading it for school and I wanted to discuss it with him. And before that I had just finished all three books of the Hunger Games series.

No plans for what is up next.

One of the counselors announced first thing this morning that she is starting WW today! I was just sitting there entering my breakfast on my ipod when she said it. She is doing it all online too. Until I told them today that I was doing WW too they had no idea that I was on a "diet" and of course that I have lost 50 pounds so far.

I managed to cut my breakfast points today, which has been a big problem. I have used up way to many points before I even get to lunch. My protein shake was 5pts and my carb (usually Go Lean Oatmeal or an Oat muffin) was about 4, plus my coffee and creamer. Today I had a shake with strawberries, banana, spinach, protein powder and almond milk. That cut out 2 points and then I had a cup of regular oatmeal which cut another point or 2. Then for lunch I had a salad with light Ginger/Soy dressing-- major point cut there from my usual ranch dressing, and a 3 point soup. So I cut the points and upped the fruits and veggies. I had a veggie stir fry for dinner with the small amount of chicken stir fry leftovers added for a very filling and low point dinner-- I even splurged on a cup of rice. I actually have about 6 points left for today! Usually I am using at least 6 weekly points every day. I am really determined to lose at least one if not 2 pounds this week and hit my goal of 5 pounds lost before May.

That is a lot of points for breakfast! Have you tried dividing your points a bit more evenly....about 1/3 for each meal...maybe a bit less, saving a point or two for a snack?

Are you thinking about what you want to eat and then figuring out the points.....or figuring out how many points you should be eating and then deciding what to eat for those points? If you decide on the points first, you may be making better choices and not "overspending" your points at any particular meal.

Best of luck on hitting your goal for April!

I just ordered this dress in azelea and in regent.

http://www.landsend.com/pp/womens-s...MERCH=IDX_women-_-dresses-skirts&origin=index

What does everyone think of it?

Love, love, love that dress! I am a huge fan of wrap type dresses and have discovered that they are pretty flattering. I own three solid ones (black sleeveless, purple 3/4 sleeve, royal blue 3/4 sleeve) and three print short sleeves. They are so easy to wear! They go with flats or heels or boots or sandals....throw on a cardigan if it is cold....dress up or down with jewelery. I predict you will love these additions to your wardrobe! May have to order one myself....loving that pink one!

Morning friends! First of all big congrats to every one of our big losers this week! WTG!:cool1:

I got so much done around the house yesterday! And more done this morning! After cleaning the bathroom top to bottom, DS and I took off the cabinet doors and drawer fronts and put on a fresh coat of polystain. Then I sanded the dining room baseboards that I pulled off ages ago in preparation for paint and new carpeting! Now that the paint and carpet are finally in place, time to sand, restain, and poly those baseboards and put them back. They WILL be back on by tonight, as soon as the poly is dry!

Sanded the bathroom stuff this morning and applied a second coat of polystain, and put on a coat of poly to the baseboards, plus emptied the dishwasher and dish drainer and hung a load of laundry plus started another load.....all before coffee!

Next up is a trip to the dump! Sounds like a fun day, huh?:rotfl2:

After the dump I am going to touch up the nail holes I filled in the living room walls. Then I will hang the quilted wall hanging that my Mom made me.

Yesterday DS and I also hung a small closet rod in the basement and put up 2 garment bags for off season clothes. It breaks my house rule of "you can't own more clothes than what can fit comfortably in your closet" , but DD and I both own multiple winter coats and they just take up too much space!

Well....off to get busy! BBL! .........P

Congrats to all of our losers this week!

Hi all! I'm Tracey, your coach for the coming week. I try and post the question the night before!

Do you look at menus before you go out to eat? What is your favorite restaurant to eat at that has the best healthy choices?

I do look at menus before going out to eat. We don't eat put much, so I really don't have a favorite restaurant. If a menu if not available online, I'll just get the healthiest item I can find.

Saturday QOTD:What is your favorite form of exercise? I know, crazy question, but there must be something we have all come to like to do! It can be as simple as walking!

I guess it depends on my mood. I enjoy strength training classes, spinning, running, and yoga. I'm not sure any one is my favorite. I enjoy them all and all are so different.

Jill, that reminds me way back you asked me about the Krocman. It was a challenge at my local Kroc Salvation Army community center. You did the same things an Ironman does: 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, 26.2 mile run. The difference was you had a whole month to finish each leg. I finished in 74 days. :goodvibes It was very fun and a good reminder that cross training is essential.

Wow. That's sounds pretty cool. I wish I could find something like that around here. Congrats on that accomplishment!

Sunday QOTD: What do you give yourself as a treat for a "good week?" Is it a special food, a beauty treatment, a new pair of jeans?

I usually give myself a treat after reaching a certain goal. I used Disney gift cards in the past, but now with summer on it's way, I am using new clothes as motivation!

What is your plan of attack for the upcoming week?

My plan of attack is working out as many days as I can and eating better. I seem to do so well for breakfast and lunch...then lose it in the afternoons/evenings. I gained a pound and I need to refocus and eat better!!

Tuesday QOTD: What book are you reading, just read or want to read?

I am going back in time and pulled out Water for Elephants last week. I've had it for awhile, but never read it. I figured I better read it before I see the movie. I just finished reading Mockingjay a couple weeks a go and took a break.

I just ordered this dress in azelea and in regent.

http://www.landsend.com/pp/womens-s...MERCH=IDX_women-_-dresses-skirts&origin=index

What does everyone think of it?

That's a super cute dress! I bet you'll look great in both colors!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Whew~I am all caught up reading and it only took me a couple hours on and off. Sorry I didn't respond much. I will be reading daily again from today on whether I have the time or not. I realized that between my workout schedule, scouts, swimming, and t-ball, the spring is VERY busy!
But I must get focused so I can lose a couple more pounds before my wdw trip. I am getting so excited. And, I'm also a little sad that we aren't taking DSs, too. Hopefully, we will be able to go with DSs next summer.
Well, I have to run and get some stuff done at work. I'll be back later to catch up some more.
Jill
Tuesday QOTD: What book are you reading, just read or want to read?
I'm reading a few things. Marathoning for Mortal, I've restarted the Kindgom Keepers series (DS11 is reading the first one for a book report), and Surrender the Stars by Cynthia Wright (trashy romance novel)
I just ordered this dress in azelea and in regent.
The last 2 days have been less than stellar for me. We are having major plumbing issues and we're not sure where it's coming from. I have a call into a septic guy and then I will call a plumber too.
Lat night we called in pizza and wings. Big mistake!! the wings were a little over cooked and made my tummy hurt this morning.
Trying to stay OP today, DS15 has a meet so I need to pack a snack and waters. And warm clothes, flurries?!?! Really?!?! Hey Mother Nature, it's the end of April!!!
Oh and today is our 19th wedding anniversary. WOOHOO!!!! We were reminiscing about how crappy our wedding day was. Thank goodness the one day doesn't matter as much as the lifetime after it!
Buffy, happy anniversary! :lovestruc
Dona, love the dress and the colors!
Pamela, I had to laugh when you said you were reading Moby Dick. I have "read" that book twice (high school and college) and written superb essays on it. The first time I made it to page 50 and the second time page 150. :lmao:
I just finished reading one of the "Undead" books by Mary Janice Davidson. Total mind candy, an afternoon of escape per book. The series I was reading before was by Louise Penny; great set of mysteries! Now I am kinda going back to old favorites: Faye Kellerman, JA Jance, Tony Hillerman. I have a request in for Hunger Games. I was number 289 on the list! I have a book holding for me, but can't remember what it was! Guess I'll swing by tonight and pick it up. Gotta love suprises ;) Plus we have half a dozen landscaping books from the library for DH to figure out what to do with the front yard since he doesn't want to be bothered with grass anymore. Which is incredibly funny since the lawn is mostly moss/dandelions and he never does any yard work. I'm the mower.
Been crazy busy here and am so glad I am not subbing today! Sorry for all you guys having snow and rain. We had 80 over the weekend and it was absolutely glorious!!! Now we're back to 60s. I'm just grateful we're finally out of the 50s. Need to get busy doing all the things I didn't do yesterday, like buy more Claritin. Some days there just aren't enough hours!
Hi everyone! I've missed you! I was away this weekend on a trip to Antietam and Washington DC with the history club and it was so busy I had no time to check in! It was a great trip though, so much fun and I made a lot of new friends. I'm secretary for the club next semester and i'm really looking foward to it, it's going to be a great year! I am normally very quiet and shy and don't make friends easily so it was so great to be able to meet some wonderful people!
Now the fun is over though, and its going to be a stressful three weeks! I have three papers due, a final project, 1 test, and 4 finals. Plus numerous other little things!
We are also leaving for the cruise in 24 days! I have SO MUCH to get done, it just does not seem possible that it will happen. I also somehow got screwed into working everyday between when finals end and the cruise sales away so im going to have to fix that somehow!
Diet is going well, I basically eat healthy all day, and allow myself one or two cheat items. I'm down to 134lbs. I don't think i will make my goal before the cruise but i've decided i'm ok with that. I don't need to stress myself out more.
I am currentl reading school books haha, but I have a few books I am waiting to read or in the middle of reading and won't be able to finish till AFTER the semester. One is a new book I just got at the Lincoln memorial on sunday called "Stealing Lincoln's Body" and I am also trying to read the 5th book in the Song of Ice and Fire series (game of thrones) which is "A Dance with Dragons" But its over 1,000 pages and I'm only on page 300! I have many books I'm waiting to read but i just don't have time during the semester.
Ok now time to get to class, Hope to catch up with you all soon!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! on being our biggest loser and for your great race this past weekend!! I promise to fit in some major exercise since my 6:30 client canceled :)
Tuesday QOTD: What book are you reading, just read or want to read?
Well, I just finished Half Broke Horses by Jeannette Walls and have A Buddha In the Attic on deck for book club next month. We are also reading When the Emperor Was Divine - both by Julie Otsuka. I also downloaded the second and third books in the Hunger Game series....so many books so little time!!
The last 2 days have been less than stellar for me. We are having major plumbing issues and we're not sure where it's coming from. I have a call into a septic guy and then I will call a plumber too.
Nice job Trina!! I'm excited for your cruise (and to hear all about it once you return!!)
CC- congrats on the new job!!
LTS- way to go cutting those points!!! I need to do the same...
Dona - sooooo cute dress and so versatile! The colors are just beautiful!
Janis -I've heard great things about Unbroken....do you like it so far?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi!!
Feeling less fat today...lol!

Went to spin last night and worked my tushie off!! It felt really good when I finished. I thought I would have to skip the exercising today but my 6:30 client canceled so I can get a walk/jog in....maybe 2x around the block which would be 5 miles...the longest I have ever gone....

Eating is OP today so far but it's our local restaurant week and Brian and I are heading for Origins Thai...I love Thai food!! I may use lots of points but i am hoping that the 5 miles will cushion the damage!!

Hope everyone is having a great day!!

Tuesday QOTD: What book are you reading, just read or want to read?

TTFN :tigger:

Right now, I'm reading a book called "Three Maids for A Crown" I just picked up at Target one night. It's about this family where the parents of a family kinda conive to get their oldest daughter onto the throne of England in the 1550's and how it backfires. I'm about halfway through now.

Speaking of books, did anyone else read "Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter" and is anyone else as excited as I am to see the movie??? It looks awesome!!

I am currently reading the second in the prey series by John Sandford. Before that I read the first Kingdom Keepers and although it was ok I am not sure if the rest of the series will be too samey. Next I am going to read "We bought a zoo" which I gather has just been made in to a film although the film is set in US even though the book is english and is set in the UK!!

Dh and I both enjoy John Sandford and the Prey series. Enjoy.

My woodwork is stained and polyed too. DH cut and put the woodwork up (from pine boards) and I stained and polyed it. All 30 windows. Now I am debating about painting all of it white. But when I think of all the work I would have to do - I quickly change my mind again. Currently the woodwork has a colonial maple stain, with 3 coats of poly on top. The only windows that have needed to be touched up are the windows that the A/C goes into.

Janis -I've heard great things about Unbroken....do you like it so far?

Unbroken is very, very good. I couldn't imagine going through what this guy went through, and live to tell about it. According to my Kindle - I am 59% through it. :)

Right now, I'm reading a book called "Three Maids for A Crown" I just picked up at Target one night. It's about this family where the parents of a family kinda conive to get their oldest daughter onto the throne of England in the 1550's and how it backfires. I'm about halfway through now.

That movie looks good - so doesn't Dark Shadow with Johnny Dep.

Have a great day everyone. Gotta get back to work.

Janis

Evening all! Productive day here today. Got DS's Lego room picked up a bit and were able to move his Lego cityscape from the dining room where it has been holding court for MONTHS! Then got the dining room all dusted and it is back to normal...but the baseboards weren't dry enough to reinstall, so we will do those tomorrow. But DS was able to reinstall the bathroom cabinet drawer fronts and doors. He is such a big help!

DH went to the dump for me....there was so much trash and recycling! Then he took my car in to put the summer tires back on. I hung two loads on the clothesline....it wasn't a warm sunny day, but it didn't rain and it was really breezy.

I touched up a few spots in the living room (but there are a few more to fix) and pressed and hung the quilted wall hanging that my mom gave me for Christmas in 2010. (Better late than never, right?) I also hung another print that I rook down last year to make room for my new entertainment center. Now I just have 3 botanical prints that I want to find a spot to rehang (they were hanging where I put the new quilt).

Made a nice lunch and we ate together as a family at 1pm since DD would be at swim during the regular dinner hour.

Anyhow... I feel happy that I got so much done today (and yesterday). It looks like I will be heading to the Cape on Thursday for a few days to spend some "girl time" with three of my sisters in law, so I'll spend tomorrow packing up for that and prepping some meals for the family to have while I'm gone. It is kind of a last minute thing. I was supposed to meet up with some other dis-ers at a scrapping convention this weekend, so I need to head to that thread to beg off. I feel badly, since this only comes up once a year, but I love my sils and will enjoy my time with them as well.

I will try to return in the morning to chat! TTYL..........P

Evening all!

Hope everyone had a good day! I have done well with food and just finished 40 more minutes on the elliptical!

What do you do when you are exercising? Do you read, listen to music, watch tv or just chill?

When I do the elliptical I watch something on tv. It's usually something on demand that I missed when it was on. Tonight it was the Biggest Loser! This morning I was watching Deathly Hallows Part 1. I have the closed captioning on since I can't hear over the sound of the elliptical. It actually makes the time go by faster by having to read the words on the screen.

When I walk outside I either listen to music or a podcast!

Have a great night everyone!

Strangely, I used to have captions on my tv all the time. I liked reading and I realized there were a lot of lines in movies that I never understood. In class they always have captions on our videos and I don't even pay attention to what they are saying because I have to read it even though I can hear fine.

QOTD: Our treadmill faces a window so I read when I walk or listen to my ipod shuffle on my runs. If anybody runs I highly suggest www.rockmyrun.com You can register for free and buy songs or you get a free credit once a month and get 30-60 minute mixes. I just wait once a month and get free ones. My favorites so far: Haulin' Sass, Sweat, Bangin' Beats, and Pump Your Fist in the Air I just downloaded and repeated, it was so addicting.

good evening! I am sitting here drinking some chocolate coconut milk waiting for the shower. I got a 1 1/2 hour workout tonight! 3 mile run on the treadmill and Gold's Gym Boxing on the wii.

Today was a "fat" day. I figured when I got to this weight I'd stop having them, but I guess not! Of course, exercise fixed that and I feel fine now.

I forgot to congratulate the biggest losers this week!
Woohoo! :woohoo:

Congratulations Melindaruns!

I should probably have clarified that my "breakfast" is actually divided into 2 parts so it is also my morning snack. If I wasn't working I would sleep later and would only eat mid morning, probably either oatmeal or a scrambled egg with meat. I have the smoothie at 7:15am on my way to work and then I have the carb (oatmeal or muffin) around mid morning, usually about 10am. But even then it was still just to many points. It was 8-10 points of my 26 for the day! I have cut it to 4-6 now. I really haven't divided up the points for the day-- I have my routine and I am trying to adapt it to work. Yesterday and today were much better. In fact yesterday I had points left over of my dailies (so I had some chocolate!).

Not much exciting today except that DD12 fell down the stairs while getting ready for bed and while she really wasn't hurt it scared the heck out of her. Combine that with tired and hormonal and she just couldn't stop crying and was near hysterical. I ended up giving her a Benadryl and lying down with her in my bed to help her calm down and get to sleep. Can't believe I was able to stay awake!

Tomorrow I get to go to training! Yep, I am a dork and totally excited to be getting to go to a district training. I am loving learning the parts of this job and the more I am able to be involved in the more likely that I might be able to get something full time or at least more subbing work.

Have to get to bed. Everyone have a great day tomorrow!

What do you do when you are exercising? Do you read, listen to music, watch tv or just chill?

It definitely depends on what I'm doing. When I was running (and when I start again!), I like to have music going. I stop worrying about distance, and even pace, and I just go with the flow of the music. I try to keep the volume low so I'm fully aware of my surroundings, but I have a hard time imagining running without tunes!

When I'm on my stationary bike, it's all about TV. :) We have multi-room DVR, so I can pull up a show I know DH and I don't want to watch together. We also have Apple TV down there now, so I can pull up a Red Sox game via MLB.tv or watch something through Netflix.

And of course, when it's DVD, it's just Jillian, getting in my face. :)

I go back to the orthopedist tomorrow for my next set of x-rays. Hopefully the bone reset they did on my toe last week held! It's not comfortable, but I'm getting around (heck, I even put together an IKEA dining table on Sunday night :laughing:). I just miss the exercise routine I was getting so into, especially my run training! Slow and steady...

I technically didn't have to weigh in at WW today, since I re-attained lifetime last week, but I wanted to see how I was doing without all the running. I'd been on the bike 3-4 times since I broke my toe, and while that's a good sweaty workout, it didn't seem like I was doing enough. Must be - I was down 2 pounds! You could have knocked me over with a feather - I was definitely not expecting that, but I'll certainly take it!

My MIL arrives Thursday evening to stay with the girls while DH and I go to NY for a wedding this weekend! I'm sure my orthopedist won't let me wear my *awesome* new shoes (at least one of them), even though the heel is very low, but I do have a beautiful new dress to bring along with me. I bought it after I reached goal and realized nothing in my closet fit anymore and that I totally deserved a new special occasion dress. :) It's purple, one-shoulder, Ralph Lauren, and I love it. I've been waiting a long time to be able to wear a dress like that! Just too bad I can't dance in it. But the wedding is open bar, shuttle to the hotel, and I predict I'll be sending DH to fetch me wine several times that evening. ;)

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!

XO
Liz

Good Wednesday morning everyone.

I had a long day yesterday. I left school and drove down to a reception at ds2's school for the Honor's program. He got his honor's cords for graduation at the reception.

They served some food but mostly finger food. I had a small serving of salad, a mini quiche, a small scoop of mac and cheese and then a berry parfait. I didn't want to eat too much since there was not a lot of choices so I thought dh would be hungry and then stop on the ride home. He surprised me and didn't stop. We got home and I was so hungry that I thought I was going to be sick. I did get something to eat and felt much better.

We head back down on Saturday to cosign his lease on his new apartment. He is so excited about moving into his own place. He will be a grad student next year. Grad students are only allowed a single and then he wouldn't have a kitchen. He has been cooking for himself for the last two years so he would miss it. He decided he wanted to move away from the dorm life.

Off to get dressed.

Have a happy and healthy day.

I have heard that if you are able to read while you are working out then you aren't working hard enough! Makes me think of college when I'd get on the elliptical or stair climber and read for class! Guess that didn't really count.

Kayla - I'm definitely going to sign up for that site!! Thank you!! I'm getting bored with my tunes lately!

Dona- where is grad school and for what? Very exciting!

Liz- wow nice job on the loss! I think continuing those meetings is a great way to keep yourselfaccountable! And you lost two more pounds!!:cool1:

Well, there's my kid yelling for me to come get him!! Have a great day!

:

If I am on the TM at home, I watch TV....usually something on Netflix so I don't have to deal with commercials. Over the winter I watched the entire BL series...every single one!

If I am running outside, I listen to music....although I admit my run playlist is getting old.

If I am on machines at the Y I usually listen to music, although I xan plug in to listen to the TV....but I don't usually care for what is on.

Obviously if I am doing a WATP or BL video, that is it.

Glad to hear you are making adjustments and making WW work for you.

Hope DD is ok this morning. Nice of you to lay down with her to comfort her like that.

Enjoy your training day!

************

finally a beautiful day here today! Not sure if I will be able to fit in any yard work. I really should clean out the garage, but I need to take some time getting ready to be gone for a few days. Plus I have to head to Nashua this evening to pick up DD's prom dress....so that means leaving home about 4:50, dropping DD at the Y, heading south, picking up the dress, driving back north a bit, grabbing some groceries for the family, picking up DD, and then home about 9 pm. Lots of hours away from home tonight.

Sorry....don't mean to complain or ramble....just thinking out loud!

Off to watch last night's BL while I fold laundry!.........P
