Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Team Challenge for Losers and Maintainers!!!

Happy Saturday morning all! :goodvibes

Apparently my coaching theme this week is lists. :teeth: Lists of healthy habits, lists of reasons to work out -- who knows what other lists I will come up with as the week goes on? ;)

QOTD Saturday 4/7/12: Which reason to workout do you like best? Or do you have a reason of your own that didn't make the list that you would like to share?

I'll be back later to catch up on replies because I am heading out to run 4 miles for my half marathon training. :goodvibes

Enjoy your Saturday! :flower3:

Hello everyone! I've missed you all, and am sorry I haven't been around much this week. It's been a busy week at work and home, and I just don't seem to have much free time. I did stick to ww for the past week, used every flex point, plus a few, and the scale still went down 2 pounds, so close to Onederland I need to remember and think about that this weekend before I load up my plate. For yesterday's qotd, I'm definitely going to plan, I'm bringing roasted vegies for Easter dinner, and just bought lots of salad stuff and fruit, so may grill chicken tonight.

Thank you MaryPoppins for coaching last week.:flower3: I did pop in and lurk on occassion.

Welcome, Lisa, and thank you for coaching this week too!:flower3: I definitely want to read that sparkpeople article today. I'm on call, but am hoping to stay home, get ready for Easter, and have some free computer time later.

I'm off to pick up a friend of ds's to hang here for a while before baseball practice. That way if I do get called in his mom will pick them up.

Have a wonderful weekend, and for those who celebrete, and happy, blessed Easter sunday. I've really missed chatting with you guys.

Nice way to motivate us by mentioning your marathon training!

#5, 8, 12, and 92 are the most important to me right now.

I've missed you too! Start thinking about where we should go for lunch when you hit One-derland!

I'm in charge of salad for tomorrow, but may also bring some roasted veggies. Will see what looks good at the market today.

Off to the TM!...........P

Good morning everyone!

QOTD Yesterday: I'll try to do all of those things this weekend!!

QOTD: All of those are fabulous reasons! Right now I want to be healthier, de-stress, look good, and be an "athlete" so I can accomplish all my fitness goals and feel better about myself!!

-----
Spent another 3 hours on math homework. On the positive side after this semester I should be completely finished with math classes....FOREVER!

We are shopping today so I'll get lots of walking in, but skipped my workout yesterday (I actually took a nap in the middle of the day I was so tired, and that is unheard of for me!) so I started level 2 of 30DS today. Wowza, I'm worn out already!

Hope you all have a fabulous and healthy day! If I'm not on until tomorrow afternoon, don't eat too much easter chocolate!!

Happy Saturday!

Got the garage done already and Brian did the transfer station run! I picked up the last minute things we need for dinner tomorrow and a lovely fudge brownie cheesecake.

Started off the day with my coffee cake. I will try and workout later though I'm just not in the mood. Hoping I don't have to leave the house the rest of the day. Gotta see what I have for the Easter baskets so I can do those as soon as the kids go to bed tonight. Very little candy this year, mainly books for the girls.

I have a bit of a sore throat right now. I think it's allergies as I was outside for a bit. Guess I will make some tea. It's almost lunch time too.

TTFN :tigger:

Here are a few things you can start doing right now to make healthy habits a relatively painless part of your routine:

1. Drink water throughout the day.
2. Cut back on the amount of soda and coffee you drink.
3. Replace high-sugar foods with low-sugar versions.
4. Stock up on healthy, portable snacks.
5. Take the time to plan healthy meals for the week.
6. Purchase frozen, ready-to-cook ingredients.
7. Pack your lunch the night before.
8. Cook double batches of whatever you’re cooking.
9. Give yourself some slack.
10. Fit in exercise whenever you can.
11. Take a walk break during the day.
12. Whenever possible, walk. Increase
13. Get enough sleep.

QOTD Friday 4/6/12: Which of these healthy habits can you fit into your life this week-end? Or do you have another tip to fit healthy habits into your life?

#1: I definitely need to work on this. I am more of a gulper. I tend to drink at least 6 glasses of water each day, but it is 2 at each meal.

#2: I have been drinking way too much soda lately. I am hereby eliminating it from my diet. I do need some caffeine, but that will be tea only.

#3: I do not do well with low-sugar foods. I think I need to stick to sugar that is naturally occurring only. There are a few grams of sugar in the granola I eat, but I need to eat it to get in so many other nutrients so I will aim to make that and fruit/veggies my source of sugar.

#4: I'm not sure when my next grocery shopping trip will be, but I will be buying baby carrots and strawberries. I plan to portion the strawberries into 1/2 cup servings and have the ready to go.

#5: Pre-planning meals never works. (Mom drama :rolleyes1)

#6: Frozen veggies are huge for us. If we don't have any, it's because we ate them all.

#7: I plan to do this when I get a job.

#8: We have leftover night almost every week. Some weeks we have it twice.

#9/#13: I do give myself some slack, but I am too quick to take a nap. I probably sleep too much. I could be doing more to stay awake and be more productive.

#10/#11/#12: Exercising more is my goal for the week.

OK sorry I was late with this but I just dumped the camera onto the computer.

One of the things they brought was some dishes and a quilt from a cousin. The quilt had been her grandmother's. We unfolded the quilt and it is just amazing. Definitely made from men's shirts, cousin thought it was "channel" pattern, but she's not a quilter. It looked like log cabin to me, but I'm not a quilter either! All hand stitching and it is in very good shape. I was expecting holes, but there's just a wee one in the backing and a tiny bit of fraying on one edge. Not sure what I'm going to do with it, but it's nice to have.

Glad that you had a nice visit with your folks, Linda. :goodvibes The quilt sounds very interesting as I was reading your post I thought the person who will know the answer is Dona . . . and lo and behold I was right! :cool2:

If you got a picture of the quilt and can post it I can try to identify it.

Lost another 2lbs this week!

Woo hoo! Great job! :thumbsup2

Trina, glad your puppy is doing good. Sorry you were so tired yesterday -- might have been the stress. :flower3:

Tracey, glad that you are feeling better too! :thumbsup2

A quick reminder to please PM your weigh in info to Sue and your HH to CC.

Also, the Disboards are switching servers over the week-end and there was a warning on FB that it may be down or there may be issues. :goodvibes:

Ye be warned . . . pirate:

Just another little reminder! :teeth:

CC, glad that you had a good day and got caught up on your rest. I'm loving HH this week!

Melinda, so glad that you are all having a great time at WDW! :smickey:

I laughed when I read the part Walk 12 miles and went back to the hotel early. Only someone that goes to WDW would understand that you can walk that far and end the day early!!!!

Isn't that the truth? :lmao:

Pamela, we are having just a little dinner tomorrow -- ham balls in the crockpot. It is nice to have a quiet family holiday for a change! ::yes::

Nice job on the TM today! :thumbsup2 I need to keep my training mojo with me as I have 4 half marathons in the next 7 months. The last two should be at goal weight and I am really looking forward to them! :cool1:

Kathy, so nice to see you! :flower3:

QOTD: All of those are fabulous reasons! Right now I want to be healthier, de-stress, look good, and be an "athlete" so I can accomplish all my fitness goals and feel better about myself!!

That is a great reason! :thumbsup2 And don't worry about doing all the healthy habits things at once -- no need to burn out. :hippie:

Buffy, thanks for sharing the pictures. Your house isn't messy, girl, it just looks lived in! :hippie:

Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday!

QOTD: I'm trying not to be like my mom and have heart troubles. So I exercise! Got my run in today. Loved the blue skies (finally) but not so thrilled with the 38 degrees.

Lisa, hope you're having some blue skies, too!

Dona, pixie dust headed your way

Buffy, loved the pics

Got back from the run 17 minutes before DS2 had to be at church at 10. Took a super fast shower and dressed. DS2 poured me a glass of milk and grabbed me a pop tart (I know, I know--but it was fast) and we were out the door. Took him to church, he was just a wee bit late, then we popped by the library because we needed the state tax forms, not sure why I didn't grab them when I grabbed the federal forms months ago! Drove across town for his flute lesson at 11. Got home close to 12 and DS1 expects me to feed him immediately (BOYS!) because he wants to be someplace at 1. DS2's girlfriend is coming over at 12:30 and the neighbor rings the bell and wants the boys to mow his back lawn! :scared1: DS1 says he doesn't want to mow that beast so I convince DS2 to do it after his gal leaves. Only problem is the neighbor isn't home when he goes to arrange a time! oh well.

I had leftovers for lunch and now need to plan/shop for tomorrow's dinner, and tonight's! I think DH has been working from home all this time, he has paperwork spread out all over and is hunched over his laptop!

I think I'll pop a decongestant because I'm starting to feel all stuffy and our back lawn needs cut, too! Have to cram everything in today because who knows when this good weather will end!

I just popped over to read Gretchen's blog and see that there are going to be some changes. If you want to continue reading about her wonderful time as a cast member at WDW check in now!

Hope I didn't step on your toes, Gretchen! :scared:

Happy Easter Sunday everyone.

I baked an orange chiffon cake yesterday. I had a little problem with it at the end. YOu are supposed to turn it over and let it rest in the pan upside down. It came out. So the top of it is in the shape of the oven mitt. At least the bottom looks okay. I also put some chocolate chip cookies in the freezer and I just have to bake those. I may have the boys do that.

I have to read at church this morning and then do another service at the local nursing home. Then we are heading to my mother's house for dinner. Ds2 will be heading back tonight so he can pick up his gf at the airport.

Thanks for the start of PD for my sons. My older son was just accepted at the University of Nebraska yesterday. I know we live in NJ and he has a couple of jobs but it is an online course. He knows a couple of other people at his college job who are taking these courses and they like them a lot.

What is Gretchen's blog site? I would love to read it. I have seen some of her food pictures.

Have a happy and healthy day everyone.

HAPPY EASTER!

Just wanted to take a moment to say hello before the day gets crazy. I hope you all enjoy a wonderful peaceful family day.

I bought new shoes to go with my new dress yesterday and they are CRAZY high heels! Hope I don't break an ankle in church! but honestly they are great shoes and on clearance so I couldn't resist....which is saying something cause I'm not a big "shoe girl".

Just glanced over and spotted the most beautiful bright red cardinal sitting in a white birch in the front yard!I'm upstairs so he is nearly at eye level. Wish the camera was handy!

Off to play Easter Bunny, shower, and iron clothes for the men. Fingers crossed that DS's dress pants fit......he continues to grow like a weed!

Good morning all! :goodvibes

Happy Easter to those who celebrate. :flower3:

One of the nice things about Spring is that it is a time of renewal. Life is bursting out all around us no matter how harsh the winter. Remember that great resolve you had at the New Year? This is a great time to find it again.

This is an an article posted by a blogger called the Purpose Fairy that came my way thanks to one of my FB friends. Now I don't know a thing about the Purpose Fairy who is a life coach -- the fairy that I encounter the most myself is the Poof Fairy ;) -- but it seems to me that a lot of these ideas apply to our journeys to a healthier lifestyle and not just "life" in general. :hippie:

Here is a list of 15 things which, if you give up on them, will make your life a lot easier and much, much happier. We hold on to so many things that cause us a great deal of pain, stress and suffering – and instead of letting them all go, instead of allowing ourselves to be stress free and happy – we cling on to them. Not anymore. Starting today we will give up on all those things that no longer serve us, and we will embrace change. Ready? Here we go:

1. Give up your need to always be right. There are so many of us who can’t stand the idea of being wrong – wanting to always be right – even at the risk of ending great relationships or causing a great deal of stress and pain, for us and for others. It’s just not worth it. Whenever you feel the ‘urgent’ need to jump into a fight over who is right and who is wrong, ask yourself this question: “Would I rather be right, or would I rather be kind?” Wayne Dyer. What difference will that make? Is your ego really that big?

2. Give up your need for control. Be willing to give up your need to always control everything that happens to you and around you – situations, events, people, etc. Whether they are loved ones, coworkers, or just strangers you meet on the street – just allow them to be. Allow everything and everyone to be just as they are and you will see how much better will that make you feel.

“By letting it go it all gets done. The world is won by those who let it go. But when you try and try. The world is beyond winning.” Lao Tzu

3. Give up on blame. Give up on your need to blame others for what you have or don’t have, for what you feel or don’t feel. Stop giving your powers away and start taking responsibility for your life.

4. Give up your self-defeating self-talk. Oh my. How many people are hurting themselves because of their negative, polluted and repetitive self-defeating mindset? Don’t believe everything that your mind is telling you – especially if it’s negative and self-defeating. You are better than that.

“The mind is a superb instrument if used rightly. Used wrongly, however, it becomes very destructive.” Eckhart Tolle

5. Give up your limiting beliefs about what you can or cannot do, about what is possible or impossible. From now on, you are no longer going to allow your limiting beliefs to keep you stuck in the wrong place. Spread your wings and fly!

“A belief is not an idea held by the mind, it is an idea that holds the mind” Elly Roselle

6. Give up complaining. Give up your constant need to complain about those many, many, maaany things – people, situations, events that make you unhappy, sad and depressed. Nobody can make you unhappy, no situation can make you sad or miserable unless you allow it to. It’s not the situation that triggers those feelings in you, but how you choose to look at it. Never underestimate the power of positive thinking.

7. Give up the luxury of criticism. Give up your need to criticize things, events or people that are different than you. We are all different, yet we are all the same. We all want to be happy, we all want to love and be loved and we all want to be understood. We all want something, and something is wished by us all.

8. Give up your need to impress others. Stop trying so hard to be something that you’re not just to make others like you. It doesn’t work this way. The moment you stop trying so hard to be something that you’re not, the moment you take of all your masks, the moment you accept and embrace the real you, you will find people will be drawn to you, effortlessly.

9. Give up your resistance to change. Change is good. Change will help you move from A to B. Change will help you make improvements in your life and also the lives of those around you. Follow your bliss, embrace change – don’t resist it.
“Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls” Joseph Campbell

10. Give up labels. Stop labeling those things, people or events that you don’t understand as being weird or different and try opening your mind, little by little. Minds only work when open. “The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don’t know anything about.” Wayne Dyer

11. Give up on your fears. Fear is just an illusion, it doesn’t exist – you created it. It’s all in your mind. Correct the inside and the outside will fall into place.
“The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself.” Franklin D. Roosevelt

12. Give up your excuses. Send them packing and tell them they’re fired. You no longer need them. A lot of times we limit ourselves because of the many excuses we use. Instead of growing and working on improving ourselves and our lives, we get stuck, lying to ourselves, using all kind of excuses – excuses that 99.9% of the time are not even real.

13. Give up the past. I know, I know. It’s hard. Especially when the past looks so much better than the present and the future looks so frightening, but you have to take into consideration the fact that the present moment is all you have and all you will ever have. The past you are now longing for – the past that you are now dreaming about – was ignored by you when it was present. Stop deluding yourself. Be present in everything you do and enjoy life. After all life is a journey not a destination. Have a clear vision for the future, prepare yourself, but always be present in the now.

14. Give up attachment. This is a concept that, for most of us is so hard to grasp and I have to tell you that it was for me too, (it still is) but it’s not something impossible. You get better and better at with time and practice. The moment you detach yourself from all things, (and that doesn’t mean you give up your love for them – because love and attachment have nothing to do with one another, attachment comes from a place of fear, while love… well, real love is pure, kind, and self less, where there is love there can’t be fear, and because of that, attachment and love cannot coexist) you become so peaceful, so tolerant, so kind, and so serene. You will get to a place where you will be able to understand all things without even trying. A state beyond words.

15. Give up living your life to other people’s expectations. Way too many people are living a life that is not theirs to live. They live their lives according to what others think is best for them, they live their lives according to what their parents think is best for them, to what their friends, their enemies and their teachers, their government and the media think is best for them. They ignore their inner voice, that inner calling. They are so busy with pleasing everybody, with living up to other people’s expectations, that they lose control over their lives. They forget what makes them happy, what they want, what they need….and eventually they forget about themselves. You have one life – this one right now – you must live it, own it, and especially don’t let other people’s opinions distract you from your path.

QOTD Sunday 4/8/12 Which of these ideas do you think might help you be happier? Or is there something else that didn't make the list?

One of the best things that happened to me as I approached age 50 was the idea that "today is someday" really sank in and that it was time to stop wishing I could things and actually start doing them as described in #15. The world kept turning when I did things that I wanted to do, my family still eats, has clean clothes, etc., and everyone is happier. :hippie:

Linda, we do have some blue skies here, too. I'll be glad when the warmer temperatures are with them! :sunny: Hope your allergies are better soon -- the tree pollen is sky high here.

Dona, congrats to your DS on his admittance to grad school! :thumbsup2 Got a bit of a chuckle out of the cake -- usually you hear stories about how the cake would not come out of the pan! ;)

Pamela, wishing you a wonderful peaceful family day, too. :flower3:

And that is my WISH for all of you BL folks today! ::yes::

Good morning everyone! Happy Easter!!

Buffy, that costume looks awesome! So do the eggs. This is the first year we didn't dye eggs. :(

QOTD: The hardest one for me is giving up control. Not so much in small situations but in things like school or with friends or when something needs to be done I have to have control of the situation or I feel that it's going to fall apart. I've gotten better about this since going to college. Another is giving up my fears. Mostly it's self-doubt. I want to get an apartment with my friends but I'm so afraid of not having enough money, not knowing what to do, living alone and not being able to depend on anyone. I know I'll be happy and have a lot of fun but I'm so scared!

We went shopping yesterday and it was fantastic. Almost every single thing I picked out fit perfectly. I picked up a couple of disney tank tops and shirts for our vacation. I was so excited when I found this beautiful brown dress. I was looking for something to wear for dinner at 'Ohanas and this brown dress with a rope belt and palm tree leaves on it just screamed polynesian! It was the only one I saw and it fit great. I am so excited! Trying on all new clothes really makes you see how much change you've made!

I hope everyone has a beautiful day!

:flower3:

I love the list!

Happy Easter everyone!

We are headed to Downtown Disney today to eat at T-Rex, see Titanic 3-D, and just generally have a great time.

Magic Kingdom yesterday was a blast! We came back to the resort for a few hours and I got in 2 miles in 24 mins on the treadmill. We went back to MK from 6:00--1:00 am. This morning I ran outside (2.33 miles in 25 mins). It was amazing! My pace was something like 10:44. I am feeling pretty good about that!

Have a great day everyone! We are off to Animal Kingdom in the morning and Epcot in the afternoon tomorrow.

QOTD: I think I'm pretty good about all of those, except control. I get anxious when there's not a "plan" for the day. I'm nowhere near what I was like 30 years ago, so there is hope! ;)

SW, Love hearing about the shopping spree! Great job!

Time to get ready for church! Have a super day.

Happy Easter everyone!

I'm doing a drive by skimming today. I'm getting Easter lunch prepared at the moment. More then likely dinner will just be ham sandwiches and some left overs. Everyone have a great day!

Happy Easter!

Not doing well with eating and drinking this weekend but have plans for the week to get back OP! After I drop off Izzie at school I plan on driving back home and then walking back to the school which is about a mile away. I will then have to walk back. Just hav eto see how things go.

Enjoying Hop with the family now! ENjoyed lamb for dinner. Only water the rest of the day!

Hello Everyone! Sorry, I have been MIA since Wednesday. I have pretty much been living at the hospital with my mom while she was recovery from knee surgery. She came home yesterday, so now I'm pretty much living at her house. Luckily, my sister and I are taking turns and I am here mostly during the day and DSis is spending the night. My mom is recovery well and starts physical therapy at the doctor's tomorrow. I go back to work on Tuesday, so hopefully I can help when I can after school.

I am so far behind on this thread that I didn't even read to catch up. I hope everyone is doing well and having a good Easter. My eating has been off plan the last couple days, since I have been eating on the go a lot. Tomorrow is a new day and I am getting back on track. I weighed myself today and I am up a pound since my weigh in on Friday! :scared1: I still have been going to the gym, though, so I do feel good about that. Who knows when I will be back on to chat, but I am hoping to fit my BL friends in daily again now that my mom is settled at home. Poor DH has been neglected as well as my house! I'm hoping to catch up on housework tonight and tomorrow.

Sorry I only have a minute to catch up and no time to read through the 6 pages I am behind. I feel like I'm out of touch with everyone :lmao:

Have a great night and hopefully I can check in tomorrow.

Jill
